Default Hello from St. Pete

Hello. I had my lap band surgery on January 19th after I had already had gastric bypass in 2003. I lost 100 lbs and did a good job of keeping it off for six years. When I started to gain about 40 pounds, I decided to have the lap band. So far so good. I was on optifast for two weeks prior to surgery and have been on liquids since surgery. I have lost 30 lbs. since January 5th. I am looking forward to this journey. I think I won't have my first fill for another few weeks but I am really not very hungry. I think having the gastric bypass helped me there but we will see!

Apparently, my doctor does quite a few lap band surgeris on gastric bypass patients. I see him on Wednesday so I will know more!

Welcome! Just wondering...is there a particular reason why a person with gastric bypass would need a band? Does the pouch constructed during the GB just stretch out too much? Regardless, I wish you the very best of luck! You will find such great resources on this site - I know I have.

The stoma that dumps into the small intestine stretches out. I still have volume control but i am starving all the time cuz my tummy is always empty...I can't eat much but i eat often!! like having quickies all day...never quit satisfied and always wanting more.
