I am curious, for those of you who are having / have had BandBabies, was your band unfilled?
How did you cope with it? Do you think the outcome could have been improved / changed if your fill were different? So far, my band's been half unfilled - but I am still throwing up at nearly 20 weeks. I'm thinking of asking for a complete unfill at my next appointment. |

Hey I haven't been on in forever but I saw this post when I popped on today. My baby is 14 months old and I was competely unfilled and would never ever do that again. I gained every pount of the 60 pounds I had lost back, plus 10 more. Now i've lost the 60 again and am back down to 160, but still need to lose the 10 extra. If I decide to have one more baby, I won't get unfilled. Anyways, thats just me and it's probably too late to be in any help, but just though I would let you know!
good luck!

That question came up at B2G conference and the docs said an unfill is recommended. But that's the beauty of an adjustible band, isn't it? Congratulations! You need to feed that baby healthy, wholesome foods!

I was thinking about this yesterday, I think my last unfill lets me eat well, altho I still have some episodes, I know if I choose my foods better I will have no problem with nutrition and pregnancy, and I won't get all my weight back. So we shall see how the first few months go.

I was banded a few days before a pregnancy could be detected. I got a fill during the second trimester and went in every month during the pregnancy to determine if I needed an unfill.
I didn't gain a single pound the first 20 weeks, and in the next 17 I gained 28 pounds, but lost all 28 pounds within 10 days of delivery. Everyone's body is different, in my case, I was able to gain baby and water weight only during the pregnancy. I have struggled however with my port moving and not being able to lose more than 4 pounds in over 7 weeks. The port will be fixed in 2 weeks. Good luck - the key is to work with your OB and your surgeon on your weight and the baby's health. |

Update: Well, I am still here, 31 weeks pregnant and still half unfilled. I am starting to feel a bit full of baby, and am finding I am not able to eat as much. Also, mu Ob told me I had low iron, and have started on iron tablets.
I am due to see the surgeon in about 4 weeks, so will ask for an unfill to get me through the delivery. Once bubs arrives, I'll have it replaced, then see how it goes during br/feeding. |

Another update: Almost 37 weeks!!!!!
![]() Today I just had the rest of my fill removed (at my request) in preparation of the birth. Having already had a slipped band, and also being quite sick during my son's labour and delivery, I was nervous about slipping this band. However, my doc was happy to leave the 5ml I had in, but understood my reasons why I requested it. He said that if my band had contained much more fill, he would have recommended not to take it all out - as that can create loose space around the band, and be prone to slipping in itself. ...and to get me back on track, I already have an appointment for a refill three weeks after baby's due date... |
