Thread: Carbonation

  1. Default Carbonation

I have been reading all the posts and it seems clear that carbonation in sodas, beer, etc doesn't work well with the band. What happens? Does it hurt? I ask because I have a serious diet coke addiction I am going to have to kick before being banded. Last time I tried to kick it I was a raving BI**H! (LOL, you can ask my hubby and sons!)

    Thanks,
    Jane

Hi Jane! Carbonation can hurt, and also stretch ur pouch. I drank diet caffeine free pepsi every single day for as long as i can remember. i haven't had one in 5 months, and i don't miss it at all. no worries! you will be fine!

    and if i haven't said so already...welcome to B2G!!!

Took a swig of Ginger ale this morning to take some meds. OMG! Big mistake. But as kristina has said, you will not miss it...much.

I miss my Fresca. I took a tiny sip of my husband's....I can tell its a bad idea. I seem to be happy substituting Crystal light tangerine/strawberry for Fresca though....I think it might be good with rum. ahem...not that I would EVER drink any rum or anything though!

I'm with Kris (I usually am!) on this: I was a serious diet coke addict who was very concerned about having to give them up post-band. It was NOT a big deal at all... for one thing, I was on pain killers for several days after the surgery - so any addiction side effects were taken care of by the meds About 3 months post-surgery I took a sip of my daughter's diet coke (I was thirsty!) - Yuck!! Really, it didn't taste good at all.

Crystal Light Iced Tea is my replacement...

    Good luck!

I am usually with Lyn too!
so i found a drink...christie i think mentioned it. we are both in colorado so i dont know if anywhere else has it...its the best water beverage i have had since i got banded. its called FUZE slenderize. it has 20 calories in the whole thing...and vitamin C, chromium, citrimax an carnitine. its sooooo good! it only has 5mg of sodium which is awesome in the flavored water world...and only 1 sugar gram. and the taste is wonderful. i have blueberry. yummy.

I was a diet Coke junky also smoked. Kicked both the habits, smoking 6 months before surgery. Diet coke after surgery, it caused my stomach to hurt, and made me belch. If I really want a coke, I pour it in a glass and stir it until all the carbonation is gone let it sit and enjoy.
