It's been almost 11 months since my surgery and my doctor likes to do one of these yearly, if not every 1 1/2 years. I had mine done this morning.

It is NOT a comfortable procedure, and I felt so silly gagging like crazy. I honestly think some of the numbing solution had worn off by the time the doctor had come in to see me--and that tube was much bigger than I thought it was going to be! Goodness! It went down through my nose, down my throat (this is such an odd feeling) and the urge to swallow is very overwhelming. They had me swallow a few sips of water..and then I realized that I just needed to NOT SWALLOW as much as possible and just try to relax... so much more bearable when you don't swallow because then you don't feel the tube.

I'm happy to report that everything looks absolutely fine, I have no esophageal dilatation or anything like that, there are no signs of erosion at all and he said everything looks good in my stomach.

He complimented me on my excellent weight loss, and reminded me that I'm getting to the point where it takes a lot more commitment from me to get to where I'm wanting to go. I didn't say anything but I've felt like this ENTIRE PROCESS has taken a HECK OF A LOT OF COMMITTMENT from me from be beginning...it's not just starting NOW! LOL!

I'm very glad to know that at my one year point, I've not yet experienced any complications from the band. No slips, no PB's, and the ability to still eat the foods I normally ate, just in smaller portions.

I told him this was just absolutely life changing for me and thanked him. It was the first time I'd actually seen my actual surgeon since surgery, I always see his Nurse. I have to say, it's honestly a little overwhelming, how thankful I feel for what he did for me.

Just wanted to update on the procedure-- definitely not a fun one and I'm not looking forward to doing that again for awhile!!!
