    Default New...need help

so....I guess I have a long story....in may of 2010 I had a lap band placed and went from 280lbs to 180lbs....I was so much happier but of course still wanted to better me. In July of 2011 I found out I was having a baby! Yay...but subsequently got sick with all the yucky vomiting etc. in November I became really ill, I was unable to eat or even swallow water. So after a week of starvation (with an empty band), the surgeon went in to remove my band because it had slipped and being that I was pregnant didn't want to risk the baby. So I had my band removed :-(....I have since had a very healthy baby boy...but I think it has finally sunk in that my weight is steady going up and I feel out of control. My new insurance does not cover the lap band....I can't afford it. I went from 180 to 230 where I am now. I was told I could have the band replaced after I had the baby....and I wish I could. I guess I just need someone to talk about this bcuz no one understands what I am going thru.....my husband keeps telling me that I don't need the band and just do p90x...and I do work out, a lot...if it would have worked out in the beginning I wouldn't have ever needed the band right? I am so scared...

hi and welcome, first of all. I'm so sorry about the band but congrats on a healthy baby!

I don't know what it is like to lose a lap band, but know that we are here for you. You're right, your husband is not like many people who have the attitude that a band is cheating or the easy way out. You lost the weight once, you CAN do it again but it is going to take even more support, not less. Find yourself someone you can talk to - whether it is a therapist, someone at a gym, or make it a point to come here DAILY. We all need support - you need extra support. You just tell us what you need and we will help you as much as we can. Hugs and give that baby a big kiss!

If you want some one-on-one I know I'm not alone in saying to please PM us - I'm available.

WOW!! a new baby. That is wonderful. I'm sure these years will be very fullfilling for you and your family. Your band is gone. You learned a lot from your time with the band so try to continue with what you know. I would be lost without my band but I would like to think that these past two years were a great learning experience and I was sure a lot happier with myself. I agree with the others, talk with someone it will sure help with your issues. Like Mo said we are here to help.

    Congratulations on your baby !

I know that you must be upset about losing your band. I know how expensive it is, because I had to pay out of pocket for my band too. But remember, you are still 50 lbs lighter than when you started this whole journey, which is great.

Keep coming here, we will do what we can to help. I have found that the nutritionist that I had when I first started this journey was SO helpful. DO you think you could financially swing a couple of meetings with a nutritionist ?
