I have been so "ready" for this for so long. So excited, so supported, everything has been wonderful. No worries, no stresses, no reluctance. Then comes today. I am here this morning by myself and I can't seem to concentrate on ANYTHING. I am getting a little nervous, take that back, Very nervous. I am so overwhelmed with emotion I want to do nothing but cry. I know that this is all due to knowing that my life is going to totally change in a few days. I am glad to finally have this done but I am so emotional today. I am all packed and prepared so that is not a problem. I have all the necessary paperwork for leaving the country and for the docs when I get there... what the heck is all of this flood of emotion? Did you guys all go through this before you had surgery?

Yep....cried my eyes out the night before. My poor DH was beside himself! I think it's just a "chick" thing. But you're right...your life is going to change, but I pomise it's for the better. At least it has been for me. Just trust yourself. You've wanted this for so long and now it's happening! You know you'll have so many well wishes and prayers going with you so just hang on to that. Just look forward to this new and exciting time in your life. I know for me it's been like my life is starting over! Gees....I've lost 53 lbs., changed my eating habits (which I thought was hopeless) and got a tattoo!! LOL....it only gets better.
I'll be thinking of you and praying!
Big hugs to you.

Thanks all. I am glad to know that I have support here. I am expecting to be emotional for a few days now. I guess I will feel better when I am all done and back home. I feel sorry for my DH tonight when he gets home. He is such a saint though he will be my source of comfort.

Whose your doctor?

Whose your Big Daddy?

Sorry couldn't resist, ignore me.

I didn't get emotional, I got very anxious (I don't like being unconcious) and I got very cranky (I don't like doctors, the thought of surgery, pain, catheters or being tied up with electrode leads). Mostly I got excited... I looked forward to a better life.

Thank you all so much! I was up at 3:30am in anticipation. I hope this means I will sleep on the plane. (yeah right). I am feeling better this morning about the whole thing. I have my confidence back. Now I am more worried about the driver being there to pick me up from the airport.

P'Nut, thank you so much for all that you have done for me. I can't tell you what a wonderful person you are. And the black bra is the best for me! It is harder to get on but it is the most comfortable.

I will see you all on the other side!

I just spoke with Susan (IdahoBeauty) on the phone. Dr. Zapata's driver had picked her up and was driving her to meet with Dr. Zapata for the final pre-op stuff. She said her surgery will either be at 8am or 10am tomorrow morning. She seemed confident and in great spirits, although she was a bit shaken up by the driver's skills. I could hear her saying, "Mario! You aren't even in your own lane!" followed by a thick accent which chuckled, "Si si" LOL!

She's going to call me back tonight and give me more info. I'll update y'all after we talk. :)

I spoke with Susan last night after her meeting with Dr. Zapata. She really really liked him. He got her started on antibiotics, gave her something to help her sleep so she's be well rested for today, and gave her pain meds for afterwards. She also got sick on the flight down, so she's prepared with chewable Dramamine for the trip home.

Her hotel accomodations are first class. Beautiful views from her window, 50 inch tv, pillow top king size bed with down comforter, marble tile floors. She was really feeling spoiled.

There are two sisters there from Oaklahoma, one was getting banded this morning by Dr. Zapata and the other had been banded several years ago by Dr. Sanchez and was there for a refill after going through a very successful pregnancy. The three ladies spent the day shopping in Monterrey, with Dr. Zapata's driver there to personally chauffeur them around town. I had to laugh when Susan said, "The three of us shared Mario's services all day long." hehe

Anyway, she was to be at the hospital at 7am this morning, so she is most likely already banded or being banded as I type. She promised to call me as soon as she was out of recovery and settled in her hospital room. I'll update after I hear from her!

*calls out to Mexico* Welcome to bandland IdahoBeauty!!!

Got a quick call from Susan tonight. She came through the surgery with flying colors and a brand new lap band fully installed! She's feeling some pressure around the diaphram from the gas, but other than that she says she hasnt had any pain. w00t!

IdahoBeauty is on her way home. I spoke to her earlier today from San Antonio, Texas where she was hanging out for a 5 hour layover. She sounded great and had to many good reports about her banding experience. I'm sure she'll be anxious to share them all with everyone. So..

Welcome home, Susan! And grats on joing us on the banded side of life :)

PNut, Thanks for keeping everyone posted. I am so happy to be home and I am feeling better every day. I will post the full details as soon as I can get enough sleep to focus. I can say that surgery in Monterrey with Dr. Miguel Angel Zapata is top notch for sure. I will try to post full details tonight. Thanks all for the great support system.
