I've looked around the boards here and couldn't find this topic...Anyway, what were your experiences? I have Aetna btw.

Thanks!:medium-smiley-116:

I have Harvard Pilgrim HMO here in Mass; fill visits cost my usual $10 office co-pay.

You're welcome, and thanks, too! I think we nurses ought to start a support thread...what do you think?

Yes Kate, good idea but where???

I'm hoping that my ins. covers fills that way too. I forgot to ask them that question. Good to know what's covered for the long haul. I'm so preoccupied with all the pre-surgery stuff right now!

My insurance is Aetna and they pay for fills.

I have Cigna and fills are covered. Suggestion-go your your Ins. Company site and review their policy. Cigna's is on-line and is very specific as to what they do and do not cover for Bariatric stuff. I made a copy for my records in case Cigna tries to deny a claim.

Can I add a question with this post? Ok so I see that fills can be covered by insurance. Well I am to be banded on oct 1st and I am a self pay for the surgery. I know I could have had my insurance pay for the lap band but I just didnt want to go through all the hastle it was going to take to get them to do so. Well my question--With fills---What about someone like myself who had the surgery and paid for it on his own. Can I now go and have my insurance pay for the future fills. Is this possible and has anyone here done this? just curious!

Hey Greg-just from what I have read, I think you will have a very dificult time getting insurance to pay because you are having your surgery done in Mexico. I have seen many people who had it done in Mexico and are very upset that the Dr.'s here won't do a fill. It has a lot to do with liability. Anyways-I know that Fill Center USA will do your fills but they are not on every corner. I think they have packages like you pay $1000 for the year which includes a set amount of fills plus the actual consult. Maybe start a thread about this and ask how people deal with this having had surgery in Mexico.
