I went in for banding on Monday morning. Seven incisions later the doc could not get the band behind my stomach...end of story. Bummer....on to plan B. Low carb and exercise.

I only found this site last week so that's why I haven't posted much.

PS, This was a long 4 month journey for me and I can't say I haven't walked away with something. I learned that I am very healthy except for the weight. I followed pre-op instructions and lost 20 pounds. I started an exercise routine a couple of months ago, it's not perfect and I don't always stick to it but it's more than I had before.
Thanks for all of the support.

Warren

Oh how terrible.
What was his answer for why it didnt go around?
Did he feel that if you lost more, it would "fit?
Feel free to stick around for support, with or with out a band.
((hugs))

Woah.. hang on! End of story? Does that mean you can't try again? Was it the liver that was in the way? Will your Dr let you lose some more and try again?

I can only imagine your frustration and disappointment. My biggest fear when I went in for surgery was that I would wake up without my band for this very reaons. I really feel bad for you and hope that you have some hope left for getting banded.

In the meantime, stay plugged in here at b2g!! We have a lot of folks who aren't banded for one reason or another, and they find a lot of support and motivation from everyone here and are losing weight on their own. We here for ya! Really!

*hugs*

Stick around, Warren! Plenty of good support here. I'm sorry you had surgery but didn't get a band! Ouch!

Thanks all.
Life is returning to normal except for the bad eating habits. Going through the lapband experience has taught me that I'm more commited than I thought. The weight loss struggle has now become a personal challenge for me. I have never felt this way before. I hope these feelings last long enough to become a new way of life.
A week or so before my surgery was scheduled I started thinking about my new life and now I'm not willing to give that life back.

Thanks again.

I'd want to know why they couldn't the bandaround, would losing a bit more weght help or was it another issue. End of story seems abit tough. IF you don't get the answers, get another opinion, I 'm sure people here could point you to another surgeon near you.
But stick around here no matter what the outcome re surgery, You've got a great attitude

Warren, I am so sorry about your surgery not working out. Like P"Nut and some of the other people said...there are alot of us not banded, myself included, here. It is a very wonderful place to be. Everyone is very helpful specially when you hit a rut and need that kick in the pants to get back up on the right track, Welcome to you and please stick around. You will like it if you just give it a chance!
