Ok I just read 9 posts about the new Wii game on Amazon and I am sold. I am picking mine up tonight (I have a pre-order) and will be using it. The reviews got me super excited about the workout potential. It is totally different than the Wii Fit. Check out the reviews on Amazon. It has a 30 day challenge, creates unique workouts and if you use the Fit board there are no weight limitations (like the Fit does as 330 # is the limit)

Man I wish I had a Wii. Maybe by Christmas I can get one for the "kids".

Brandy-no need to wait. They are everywhere (unless it's a money thing). You will love it. I already told my DW if we ever divorce, I get the Wii. She laughed so hard.

It is a lot of fun. I must confess though I haven't been I. Wii fit for months! I was on it everyday I. The begining. I'm using my stationary bike and going to curves these days. But I will check out the new game.

Here is my review-
The game will take some getting used to. There are a lot of activities and each one requires different items to use. For the bicep curls you use the remote in one hand, the nanchuck in the other while holding the straps of the stretchy bands in each hands. Seems cumbersome at the beginning, but something to get used to . No big deal. The strap that goes around the thigh is generous in size and has a small extension if needed. (fits fine on me). I like that it has a 30 day challenge. The trainer does push you. I like that you control the routine. You can pick the exercises that you want in the routine. It's nice that it counts the calories for you. The downer-the most you can enter is 300 lbs. You can still use it if you weigh more, but I would assume that the calorie counter won't be as accurate. Not that it can be 100 % accurate anyway as each body burns at different rates. Better to use a Polar personal trainer type watch (but $159 ain't cheap). Enjoy.

How come you have to wait until next week to start?

Donna the game comes with the leg strap. U only need to buy an extra one if u plan on using it with someone else, as in a two person workout.

Dance Dance Revolutionn 2 Mo.. it has a pad that comes with it and a game too.. it's geared more for younger people.. ofcourse I probably (no probably about it) don't know what I'm doing.. maybe when you come over this summer I'll break it out and you can give it a test drive.. lol Susan and Sarah played it .. I think on Playstation.. Susan said it was fun, so I figured I'd get it.. I didn't care for it.. but it could be just me.

Okie doke Pattie.. I've only used it a few times, trying to figure it out.. maybe I'm just too old for it, it does move fast and I'm not a fast mover anymore.. lol I'll look up when I got it, but I'm sure it was just this past Winter.. I think I paid about $70 for it.. but like I said I've used it a couple times, but not for long.

My kids love their DDR...my mom got it for them for their Wii for Christmas. I thought it would be a fun workout, but I don't really enjoy it either Donna. I'm anxious to hear what you think about the Active though.

I got it yesterday but haven't had the chance to use it yet.. so many things like yard work and running errands for Max has gotten in the way. But I've been getting a pretty good workout in the yard tho.. and really enjoying it for the first time ever. I have my band to thank for this. Hopefully I'll get to use it soon.
I'm glad you like it Shelly.. it does look like it would give you a good workout from the information I've read that comes with it. I like the idea that it has a resistance workout, and also that it has a 30 day challenge. Lots of settings to use, but doesn't sound too complicated for me to do. (which is a plus).
I could have gotten it at Sam's Club cheaper than I paid for it on Amazon, but not by a lot. Oh well.. live and learn.
Can't wait to try it tho.

Ok.. I just finished using the Wii Active and I gota say.. I like it a lot.. it's more like a workout.. what am I saying.. it IS a workout.. lol It tells how many calories you burn in the minutes you workout.. I worked out a total of 32 mins and a few seconds and burned almost 200 calories.. now I have to say I started doing this at midnight and by the time I got everything all set up on it.. I had a good hour into it.. but it's really a good thing.. I'm very impressed with it (but it doesn't take much to impress me.. lol). All I know is I like this one more than the DDR.
I highly recommend getting this one.. it has a 30 day challenge and it does different exercises so you don't use the same muscles.. it really is like having your own personal trainer. I did a regular workout tonight and I can really tell it worked me out.. it tells you if you do the exercises wrong and gives you the correct way to do them. I'm glad I got it. :)

My kids have the Wii, but they don't care for it as much as their PS 3... so maybe I'll hijack their Wii, put it on my bedroom TV, and get the Active.... thanks, guys... you got me at least thinking about starting to work out... lol.

Actually, the figures for the calories are low (well depending on your intensity level). They are calculated on a standard chart that says if you weigh this much, and exercise this long, this is how many calories are burned. It actually depends on heart rate as well, which Active doesn't monitor. But luckily I have a heart rate monitor that straps around my chest and sends the info to my wrist watch. I did some cardio boxing using the Active and it said I burned 152 calories in the 17 minute routine that I created. But my heart monitor said I burned 277 in the same time period. I go by the monitor as it knows what intensity I was at. But the Active is a great exercise tool for sure.

Ya know Monte.. I have one of those thingys too.. but for some reason I couldn't get it to work right.. maybe I should take it back where I got it and have them help me get it set up.. I got it at a sporting goods store. I felt like I burned more calories than I did.. I was wore out big time.. I turned my mattress pad on last night hoping the heat would help my muscles.. lol It was chilly here so I figured turning that one would kill 2 birds with one stone.. lol

WOW that is a huge number of calories burned in such a short time! I'll definitely buy one of these down the road ...but first I have to save my pennies for Idaho in October lol -- thanks for the update Monte -- it's great hearing about how it works!

Last night my DW wanted to exercise so we used the Active in tandem. We did 20 minutes of the cardio boxing. It was a fun way to spend time together and burn some calories (I am sure some of you are thinking about other ways to burn calories in tandem, shame on you-LMAO). All without having to leave the house. There are a few of the exercises that require you to purchase an extra leg band, but there are many activities that don't require it. It was fun and is definitely on the menu again.

I would be lost without my heart rate/calorie burn counter/ watch. It has become an essential tool for my weight loss journey.
Anyway that's just my two cents worth.
