I'm thinking about puchasing an excercise bike for excercise. I was just wondering what everybody does for their excercise.

I must be honest and say that I don't exercise. I get bored very easily with exercise but on a rare occasion when I do, I either get on the treadmill or walk around the park. I hate the bike and the stair master.

I run.
I'm really passionate about exercise and I have a huge interest in physiology and exercise science and all of that. I know the ins and outs of a ducks bum when it comes to what you *should* do.
But to be honest, I mainly do what I like. And what I think my body responds to best. Which is running - steady state cardio. I do interval training too because I find it has made me a better, faster runner and I get a thrill from that. But as for strength training, I do the bare minimum I can to maintain muscle mass and strong bones. I find any serious weight training and I bloat out and dont look as lean. My body really LIKES running. And it gives me the sort of body I want to have, so that's what I do.
I have a treadmill, which is fabulous - it makes the interval training sessions easier and it covers bad weather and late nights. But I love to get outside. Today it was cold, crisp and completely clear, a gorgeous morning. Eliza rode her bike and I ran her to school, then ran home.
I like the elliptical enough to say I would probably use one if I had it, but I find a treadmill best because you can take the same exercise outside, and make it different. I dont think i'd really use a rower or a bike.

I do a variety of stuff, but it's all at the gym. I have a really hard time making myself do exercise at home. Although...I do have a recumbent bike at home and will use that if I know I might not make it to the gym that day. At the gym I like the eliptical and use the treadmill occasionally. I have really gotten into classes lately though and especially like the higher energy ones that make you sweat and the Yoga ones. Love to do one right after the other (preferably Yoga last).

I use my treadmill when my back isn't acting up....or walk outside. I love doing the Wii - either Wii Fit or Wii Sports (my favorite games) and I get a great workout and really sweat - especially when I do the age test on Wii Sports. I'm looking forward to a new game coming out soon for the Wii - another sport/workout game. AE Action I think it's called?

I love my treadmill. It cured my high blood pressure even before I lost weight. I like to put a movie in my PC and pound the "pavement!"

We have a nice park called the Bicentennial Mall close to where I work and on pretty days, I walk for 30-40 minutes at lunch. At home, I have a treadmill, exercise bike, and bowflex...but my favorite is getting the the pool. It's almost time....

I do Curves 3-5 times a week. The other days I do a fast walk outside, tredmill or eliptical. I try to do some type of exercise at least 30 min everyday.

I walk and jog on a treadmill and outside, I also do wt training, you should at the least do 30min of cardio everyday or 3 x's a week, you will see a good result in yourself. I'm kind of a over do'er with exercise, I work out 2hrs everyday, last Fri I worked out for 3 1/2 hrs, I love it. Good luck.

I have a bike right next to my bed. At least 3 days a week I roll out of bed turn on the tv and ride anywhere from 40-60 minutes. I don't have to get out the door I don't even have to was my face. I have no excuse. If I'm running late then I just do 10 or 15 minutes. I have no excuse.
I also go to curves I'm not as good with curves as I am with my bike. I think I hurt my knee there yesterday! The socializing is great there.
I do have the wii fit used it everyday when I first got it now it's been months. Ab roller also. Great to if if I'd use it.
I just look at my bike and tell myself I have no excuse. Even when my knee hurts I just move it until it doesn't. A big key factor I think is I refuse to put anything on my bike but my butt. It is not a place for clothes or towels to hang on.

I also use the Wii Fit. I like to do free step for 30-60 mins. a day and catch up on the items that I DVR. Mo mentioned above a new game for the Wii-It's from EA Sports and is called Active. It comes out today. I pre-ordered, but will wait to open until I read the reviews on Amazon.

I love swimming! I am hoping to get back to walking and the elliptical as soon as I am a little lighter, and also start lifting weights at least one day a week. I find the weights a little boring but I know it is important.

Normally I walk on a treadmill two separate 15min sessions with a 30min circuit workout in the middle.

LOL T.
I started out swimming cause at 300 pounds, i wasn't in the best shape. when i could swim 2 miles, i got on the treadmill for 30 minutes..going slow..but still....then i went faster and faster, then i inclined..then i ran. then i started the elliptical...then the stair-master, then weights...now i don't even break a sweat on the elliptical..and yes i could run and burn calories that way but i don't have the endurance to go long distances...so i do a walk run interval..now i am taking classes...bootcamp, spinning, zumba...those are actually kicking my butt. and it feels oh so good to have my butt kicked again!
today- i hiked on sand dunes in the pouring rain with my 60 pound daughter on my back for over a mile. my shoulders are killing me right now!
my husband could not believe how strong i was...how much i could do...he just didnt know..and that felt so good!

Amen to that Teresa....go for the massage Kristina.
Lovemylapband...I love what you said about the bike not being for anything else and I need to adopt that attitude. I am BAD about setting stuff on mine.

I do eliptical for 45-50 minutes and alternate that with weight training & 20 minutes of eliptical then skip a day and start all over. I also bought myself a really cool new bicycle, a hybrid comfort bike that is easy on the back and hands/wrists. I try to do that at least once a week or more often for about 60 minutes at a time. It's amazing how bicycle technology has changed in 20 years--I used to do a lot of biking in my past. I found it was really good for weight control. The one invaluble exercise tool I have is my polar heart rate monitor/calorie burn-counter; it's a really good tool to keep track of caloric expenditure. Hope this helps you.
