Okay, I have heard you all speak of the 'elephant' on your chest when you get stuck. I can sort of understand...pregnancy reflux made me feel like my prenatal vitamin was stuck in my throat.

I am still on liquids. Protein drinks, water, tea. I do have a small coffee in the morning.

I have pressure...sternum area. Gas-X helps me produce a few burps, but not much. It's a 'full' feeling...almost like something working it's way back up my esophagus? Not painful when I take a deep breath, though. Just annoying.

Ideas? Feedback? This is the second afternoon I've felt this way. Not in the morning...just later in the day around the time I am leaving school.

hmmm - I can only guess - esp since you're on liquids....possibly "allergy" build up? Do you drink enough water throughout the day? Teaching can make that challenging -- or it could still be just plain ole gas -- it hasn't been that long since you had surgery, so that is a very real possiblity. If it continues I say call your doctor - better safe than sorry, why make an uncomfortable feeling worse. Hugs!

I had that for awhile. It might be part of the healing process. I agree with MO, keep drinking a lot of fluids and take it easy. One thing that I did that really helped me was lying down for about 10 minutes now and then.

I remember those first couple of weeks after surgery adn had a similar feeling. In fact i could not even burp adn thought that was weird but given some time things will heal and return to "normal"

I had it for a couple of days but now that I have been out and about it seems to be gone. I still can't take a good deep breath without feeling the pressure. I know the Doc put a couple of stiches in my diaphram as well since he saw I had a small hernia. Since he was there, I have not seen the bill yet but I am sure I could be charged for a couple of extra stiches

Thanks all! I so appreciate you!

I did put in a call before DR closed for the day. Nurse said...well, pretty much the same thing you all are saying :)

I need to remember I am still very much healing and each step will impact my body in a different way!

I had this feeling, GasX helped a lot. Keep an open line of communication with your doctor :)
