View Full Version : I think my restriction has gone bye bye!

I have 3.5 cc's in my 4cc band and I had good restriction for at least 3 weeks. I noticed last week that I had been hungry more and able to eat more food than I had been able to after my last fill. I told my NP that I feel like I could eat a horse, LOL. She told me that we didn't want that. I am going in tomorrow for another fill but I am only going to ask for 3 cc's. Does that sound like a safe amount? I don't want it to be too little and I don't want it to be too much. Based on the fact that I know so much about my band, and I was their first to be done and I am a nurse, they pretty much let me run the show with my fills and stuff. Wich is cool because I can feel it and they can't, LOL. I am just a little nervous because everything has been going well and I don't want to start with problems, LOL. Thanks in advance for your input.

No real advice here. I'm feeling just the same way, I'm at 2.5 but I've noticed I can eat more again lately and the good restriction I had seemed to only last 3 weeks. I havent lost anything in a few weeks and I'm sooooo close to goal, I keep thinking "just have another fill". But its all gone so well so far, I've been able to eat everything and I've never PB'd and do I really want to start all that crap now?
Am I not using my band properly and just being a big chicken or am I being sensible? Who knows?
I guess though, and this is easy for me to say without actually doing it - you can always take some out if its too much.
I need a fill desperately, but I'll be traveling next week, so it'll have to wait. Most days, I'm wide open and can eat pretty much whatever lately :(

I fell into the same boat. I was at 3.5 and had really good restriction but noticed recently that I could eat more and more. I went in for a fill this past Tuesday and they gave me .50cc which took me up to 4.0. Please make sure you post and tell me how your fill went and what you are at now. I'd like to compare notes if your dont mind. I am super tight now and once again am learning to eat all over again. Have PBd twice now and I think I have learned my threshold. Take care.

Before anyone gets hung up on numbers, or band size, or CCs in the band, remember that this is all a personal issue. My band and your band are different, our stomachs are different, the amount of fat padding that stomach...different.
So, the band is not based on anything else other then the physical shape and size of your stomach itself, not body shape or size, male or female etc...The CCs it takes for proper restriction also not based on any common factor except what you personal can tolerate. Some people find that after losing weight they have more restriction (I can assume here that the fat padding has gone away and the band is now clamped at the same pressure, but on the stomach alone) some people find that they have less. Some people find that after having the band unfilled it takes less of a fill to get back to restriction.
Nothing is science with band size, fills or CCs...P'Nut posted a great fill resource somewhere, I will try to find and it link it.

503 has a point, but sometimes experiences can be similar. I am at 3.8 cc's now and I am feeling restriction. Dry things don't go down well they get stuck and take a painfull minute or so to go down. I was starving this morning and all I really have for breakfast food is doghnuts left over from my halloween party and I could only eat 1/2 of it and yesterday I could only eat 3/4 of it. I also woke up this morning with a great SV.

The other thing you need to relaize that there are certain foods that give better restriction then others. The hard proteins will give you good restriction where as scarmbled eggs will not..so it is not just always on the fill ammount in your band but the food choices you make. When I was filled at my tightest at 2.5 I could eat scrambled eggs all day long but give me a piece of chicken breast and that would be all I ate for hours. Give me tuna VS sliced lunchmeats and the same thing would apply...Being filled almost to capacity when you have so much more to lose is a scary thing, what happens when you are filled to capacity and you still have no restriction but yet still have weight to lose? Writing down what you eat really helps with this, to see if you are eating the hard proteins or if you are eating softer foods which make you hungry quicker. If you feel you are in a rut and are able to eat more then maybe try writing down what you eat, there is something to be said when you see it on paper. It worked great for me!
Some people find that after losing weight they have more restriction
This happened to me, I was at 2.5 and had to have an unfill for a surgery at that time I had lost 100 lbs. When I went to get re-filled after 2 months of NO fill I was only able to go to 2ccs .2.5 I was alsmost completely closed off.

Right on, everybody! There is no point (other than curiosity) in comparing fills. Some might be overfilled at 2cc's while others have no restriction at all with 2cc's. We are all shaped differently ON THE INSIDE and that's where the differences really come in to play with restriction. Listen to your own band, don't try to match someone else's fill in an attempt to find your sweet spot. Be sure you are eating good solid proteins and that you are eating your proteins FIRST. If you are eating soft foods, or crunchy crumbly type foods that can easily get through your band, OR if you are drinking with meals, chances are you aren't giving yourself a true idea of just how restricted you are.
Here's the link that 503-250 was talking about, and I'm also including a link to a checklist for determining whether or not you need a fill. It's important reading, so get busy! :)
