I got a fill at 930 this morning. I have been having esophogeal spasms since 730 pm. I dont know if I can take much more. Should I go to the ER and have some fluid removed. OHHH I hope someome is awake to read this. I am so miserable right now!!

Thanks. I think it may be easing up a bit so I am going to try to go to sleep. Hope it goes away. I may have to take myself to the ER cause I dont want to wake up the family. Sometimes I wish I had a needle so I could take the fluid out myself. LOL

Finally got some sleep. This morning is so painful trying to take a sip of liquids. Do I wait or do I go back and get some removed? Helps to talk out loud. Wow he only put in .4cc yesterday making my total around 6 something. OUCH!

Tisha, Call you doctor. He should have an answering service. You should be able to get ahold of him 24/7. Never be afraid to call him. You are too tight. That is an emergency. I think that had you gone to the ER, they would have had to call him in to remove some. They won't do it on their own.
Feel better!

Thank you. I am going to see him at noon. I am hoping it is instant relief. Hopefully I am not setting myself up for disappointment

Goodness! I'm sorry I didn't see this last night. Kristi is absolutely right. Any time there is pain, or spasms, or inability to swallow or drink, call your doctor! Band surgeons know that these kinds of things can occur and they are usually more than happy to meet you at their office or at the ER for an adjustment. Prolonging the issue can cause serious issues. Never hesitate to get an overfill corrected.
Let us know how you're feeling when you get home today. I'm sure you'll get the instant relief you're hoping for when he pulls some of that fill back out.

Just got back from the doctor. He took out .3 of the .4 ccs he put in yesterday. Some discomfort is still there but I expected that. So thirsty but so scared.

Aww *hugs* You're going to be fine. No more spasms, right? The discomfort is probably due to all of the irritation. Did your doc recommend you go on liquids and/or very soft for 24-48 hours? If not, it would be a very good idea. Give the swelling and irritation time to subside before trying to put solids in there again.

All he said was from now on only 0.1 cc at a time for the rest of my fills. How disheartening. Last fill I had was 1 cc with no problems.

It shouldn't be disheartening if you have good restriction! Remember, you're not after a number, you're after the proper (and above all, healthy) amount of control over how much you can eat. More fill does not always equal better weight loss. Quite the opposite in many cases. How many cc's you have isn't as important as having your band "feel" right. You should be able to eat 4oz of lean meat and 1/2 cup of veggies without pain or other negative issues.
I really would suggest going with liquids or soft foods for a time, though. With the swelling and irritation you've got in there, you're at an increased risk of getting something stuck and that will be worse!
Hang in there, and remember, its not about the numbers! Its about finding what works best for your body.

Tisha,
I agree with all the information about being too tight needing immediate attention. However, I've gotten through some bad nights of esophogeal spasms and can tell you that a hot shower really helps followed by a heating pad on your chest/stomach area. Sometimes this will get you through the night or part of a day (until you can get it resolved) with less discomfort.
Don't be worried about only getting .1 from now on...it must mean you're near that nearly perfect restriction that we all call "the sweet spot". Please keep us posted!
