View Full Version : Stupid Question: Can you heat your protein powder?

This morning I wanted a hot drink.

It was time for my morning protein drink, so I heated water and poured it over the powder. What resulted was messy. Though as I stir, some of the powder dissolved into the water, it looked like most of it became swollen and cover the top. I stirred some more, than decided to scoop the swollen stuff out. The drink was fine, but I'm wondering if I scooped the important stuff out.

What do y'all do when it gets cold outside? Do you stick to your normal hot tea or coffee and just blend the protein powder in cold water as normal?

Hey Joyce~

From what I understand if the protein powder is heated above a certain point it breaks down the protein. That's what the woman at Bariatric Eating told me when I ordered their protein sampler pack.

HTH!

I've read that it clumps. I've added protein powder to warm (not hot) soup, and it mixed in well.

Thanks, I was worried that the protein might break down. AND it was clumping like EVERYTHING!!

I'll never try that again.
