Others can tell you about Mx docs. But, be aware that many (read most here) US docs won't take care of you if you were banded in Mexico. No fills or unfills. You may be pretty much on your own. If you do decide on Mexico, arrange for your aftercare before going.

I had a friend who used Dr Kuri, out of Tijuana. He works with his associates who also do P.S. She said he was nice and had a positive experience.

I think its just there are alot of doctors that dont take patients they have not worked on. I dont think it has anything to do with mexico. That being said I went to Monterrey mexico with Dr. Rumbaut and didnt have any trouble finding several doctors in the Dallas Ft. Worth area that would take me. I guess it depends on what part of the country you live on or something is my guess. I dont know maby stitchy is right but I never had any problems. I would find a doctor before you go---thats what I did.

Greg,
I interviewed 7 doctors before my surgery to see if they would provide aftercare if I was banded in Mexico. I emailed or phoned perhaps a dozen others. Only ONE was willing then and he no longer does now... I live in the midwest...perhaps it's more acceptable in Texas. It IS a problem!

hmm how weird---I called about 10 to 12 doctors here and 1 would not do it. Now did you talk with the doctor specifically? A bunch that I called had policies of not taking some other doctors patient but when I spoke with them in person and explained that I was going to mexico because of insurance not paying and that I was a self pay ---they usually said they would take me---except for that one doctor and he acted like he was God or something anyway so I didnt really care. Anyway you said you live in the midwest? Dont they have those fill center USA's there? I know those guys will fill anyone. There all over the place here also. But I honestly wanted a regular doctor to take me on.. So if your in the Ft. Worth area and need a good fill doctor I highly recomend Dr. David Kim. I hear he is even a good Dr. do do the surgery by the way ---but cant tell you from experience.

Fill Center's USA is primarily west of the Mississippi. At the time of my surgery there were none within a 8 hour drive of my home. The aftercare doctor I started with was a 5 hour drive each way. Thankfully after a year, I found a doctor that was 30 minutes from me that was willing to work on patients banded in Mexico (mainly because he used to go to Mexico on the weekends and do several back to back surgeries...he paid his student loans off that way).
Best to be sure the aftercare doctor is going to be willing BEFORE you do the surgery out of the country.

I had surgery with Dr. Kuri, and it went well. the facility was nicer than the hospital I gave birth in, and the service was very good. The only bad thing was the van driver was a little bit of a slob (yes I am picky).
I feel very well 3 weeks out.
I did a lot of research and found a local doc to give follow up.
Dr. Kuri offers fills under fluro for $95, but with the plane ticket, the cost is no better than having it done here.
Fill Centers USA has grown! There are 2 in NC and several in SC. There is one in Nashville and Atlanta too!

LOVE LOVE LOVE Dr Kuri. Find a local doc before you go if you can't go back. Good advice.
