Thankfully I am getting to a place where I can at least think...almost immediately... that I won't be associating eating with my goal. I want to do/wear/buy various things... highlights of which are as follows, but in no particular order:

1. I will go to Disneyland and ride Space Mountain, Matterhorn, Splash Mountain etc. with my 7 yo niece. It's only 45 minutes away and I've never been with her. This goal was highlighted most recently for me when she and her mom went to Monterrey, MX with me for my surgery. We went to Plaza Sesamo and I was only able to ride the carousel with her.
2. I am so looking forward to wearing clothes off the rack. I cannot wait for the day that my choices are not limited to plus size stores. I'm currently a poster child for "What Not to Wear" in my long shorts, flip flops, and polo shirts.
3. I will vacation in Europe. I have a close friend I've known since high school who is from Spain. She asked me to go this summer and I was so uncomfortable with my weight that I said no...
4. I will learn to scuba dive.
5. I will travel more...
6. I want to learn to enjoy exercise.
7. I want to learn to cope with stress without food.
8. Most of all, I want to be healthier and more comfortable in my own skin.

I am a pre-bandster. I am still in the process of all my pre-op tests. I had everything all done and then the surgeon's office called and said I needed cardiac clearance because something was off with my echo. I tried not to freak, things like that freak me out a bit. I had an appointment with a cardiologist yesterday and all seems fine, but to be sure he wants me to do a nuclear stress test next week. I had the stupid sleep study this past Monday night, it was aweful! Worst night of sleep I ever had. (Other then the day I came home from the hospital with my daughter and my 21 month old son threw up ALL NIGHT LONG with his first stomach virus). Other than that, nothing really. I want to lose 110 pounds and hope that the band is the tool that will enable me to do just that. It is very inspirational to read about success stories on here and see what others are going through. It's nice to not be alone in this. This is an awesome site! I will be visiting a lot to get me through. I will post when I get my surgery date. I can't wait!! Take care all.

Hello all! I am brand new... I've skimmed and stalked around the website before... but now that I have a surgery date, I officially became a member yesterday! So, we have not worked up the nerve to get another pet yet. And Vinny (gorgeous boyfriend mentioned above) is allergic to cats - even thought I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to get a little kitty... I cannot! :(

do: Feel happiness and pride when I look in the mirror (clothed OR not!) ;)

you're not too far from me! i live and work (teach) in AA-county. nice to have someone so close! maybe we can meet and walk over in quiet waters or downtown sometime! :) or maybe we can get a little group together to do lunches the way some of the other locals do! it's so fun to meet people you've gotten to know online who are experiencing the same things you are!!!

i considered st.agnes (as well as restin hospital in VA) before finally going with dr.VR at GBMC. i weighed the numbers of surgeries completed with the fewest number of complications, etc. and then distance to get there and GBMC won. although, i've had my fair share of issues since then and find myself doubting whether i made the right choice or not. but too little, too late now, huh?

Hi! I am going to have surgery on June 18th, 2007. I am nervous, as I don't know what kind of recovery pain is involved. I had my tubes tied a couple of years ago, and it was pretty painful right after I got out of surgery, but it was okay by the next day. Can anyone give me an idea of the discomfort level I might experience? I am 41 years old, married, one son (My Angel) his name is Jakob, and he will be nine in July. I live in Des Moines, Iowa. My sister is also going to have the surgery. It is nice to have my family supporting my decision to do this. Can anyone tell me when I should start seeing some weight loss, after I have surgery? Hi Monica and welcome to B2G :) Congrats on your upcoming surgery. People vary with there pain threshholds. I had never had surgery before, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but I was in some discomfort, but not a lot of pain. I went back to work on my 4th day post op. Loosing weight before the first fill varies also, you won't loose much with the band by itself because you won't have much restriction until you are properly filled. I lost, but I struck to a very strict diet and restricted my intake, even though I was often hungry before my fills. Hope that helps and again, welcome! :)

I want to wear a pretty peasant top, with tight jeans- or if it is winter, a Swedish style sweater- with a REAL bra. I am going to shop at Macy's, Old Navy, Sears for clothes for a change instead of ordering from "big girl" catalogs.

I'm 5'11" and would love to be a size 8 or 10, but I'd be thrilled with 12 or 14 too. Is any female here that tall and that small? I'd love to see a pic.

50 years old (Doc wanted me to have a colonoscopy prior to this procedure! I'm actually only 35 in my brain so I was able to postpone this unglamourous event.)

I'm married just over 2 years to the most wonderful husband. He's been thin all his life and now he's got maybe 20 pounds he could lose. You know, one of those people who don't really understand 'fat'. But he understands me and is so supportive: to the point of paying for this procedure. AMAZING.

I have one child grown (32). This essentially ended my not very happy childhood (17 when pregnant). I'm so blessed to have him. NOW I am having my childhood...young adulthood: fun, free to be me and to go where I want. I guess I rather like the way it turned out because now I have all that life experience behind me and I have the money to enjoy my free-time. With a new sexy husband!! :love4:

We have 4 cats. They seem to come in 2's. 2 of them are sisters and are 20+ years old. Have had them since kittens.

My absolute favorite thing to wear would be 501 Levi's (button fly cuz they make the butt look so fabulous), a semi-tight white t-shirt braless!! Because of my breast size (at goal weight I'm 36 c) it's never been a possibility so I would be fine with a very sexy bra.

The one thing you want to do/wear/eat/buy when you reach your goal?
I want to get off all medication, be healthy enough to play with and enjoy my kids, and be able to wear anything I want in a single digit (doesn't matter if it's an 8 or a 2 as long as it's one digit!!!)
