View Full Version : Getting Stronger!

Ok...somebody cue the Rocky theme music....I really do feel like I am in training with this band! I had my first fill on Wenesday the 17th(yesterday) and thanks to many of you, I went in with realistic expectations. I just wish I had known about this group before I got banded in the first place. I think that would have cut down on the shock and disappointment that I was feeling (notice I said "was"). So here's the good news....while I don't really feel any different after my fill, I am NOT discouraged. As a matter of fact, I really do feel like I won this round. I feel like I am in a fight against my head and I refuse to let it win! I am (as the title says) GETTING STRONGER!
Oh...and not sure if this counts as more good news or not, but....I figured out how to add my own pic as my avatar. That's me and my two youngest.

Congrats on your first fill! I know what you mean though about fighting with your head. But my "bright ideas" are what got me to this point, so I'm not listening to my head any more. We'll get there, it just takes time. Patience is a virtue that I do not possess.
I hope things go really well for you from here on out!

Steph,
Isn't it crazy how you can fool yourself into thinking that it can happen overnight? You are so right about saying that it "just takes time". Thanks for your comments.
BTW - Your little Josie is adorable...what kind of pup is she?

Thank you Kris. Of course, I think my kids are adorable, but it's always nice to hear it from others. And Pattie....you are soooooo right. Everyone has their own cross in one way or another.

I need some tips on what ya'll do when you aren't really hungry, but are wanting to eat. I'm a little hungry, but I've been trying to really stick with the "diet" today. I already exercised and I've been doing some housework and laundry...basically trying to keep busy. I even went and took a shower and totally fixed my hair and make-up even though I'm not going anywhere! Just trying not to eat. HELP! I need more ideas. I'm stuck in the house today cuz one of the kiddos is sick.

I chew sugar free pepermint flavored gum. The mint helps you not feel hungry.

Thank you, Josie is a maltese/poodle mix. She's 3 years old and has me wrapped around her little paws.

Mindwing,
That sounds wonderful, but my doc actually told me that he doesn't want me to chew gum now. That and no more drinking from straws. Has something to do with swallowing air. Maybe peppermint flavored sugar free mints would work. I do have to say though...I miss gum. That was something I did in the past to give my mouth something to do.

I know if I brush my teeth it takes some of the cravings away, plus you don't want to eat when your mouth feels all clean..

I can just imagine that! Hopefully I'm not alone on this, but since surgery I've been a bit more...ummm...gassy. Unfortunately it pops up at unexpected times and sometimes I have trouble holding it back and try to let it eak out quietly. I guess I'd better not start chewing gum. Bubbles coming out of my butt would be a bit harder to hide than a little toot...LOL

Hey all! Kristina mentioned the Wii Fit on her thread and so I thought maybe I'd come back to mine and ask for opinions. Anybody else have one? I'd love some feedback.
What else do ya'll do for exercise....keep in mind I'm just starting out and don't have a gym membership (nor can I afford one).
Thanks for any advice you have!

Thanks Kris! I read the whole thread and now I am even more excited to get mine! It's on it's way...hopefully will be here by Christmas. I actually have been keeping busy and have managed to lose a little more. I'm trying to be really good before I head up to my parents for Christmas because I know it will be harder to be good while I am there. Mom called last night and was telling me about the goodies she has been making. So, I can relate with you receiving the package of goodies from your mom. And ohhhhhhhh how I love fudge! Fudge and brownies have to be my favorites and the hardest for me to resist. My kids have been wanting to make stuff, so last night I let them make homemade playdough for ornaments. That way they still got to make something/bake something and we didn't end up with any edibles.

I usually drink a glass of water when this happens. Knowing I can't eat for 30 minutes after wards, it takes my mind off of wanting to eat. Its more physiological than anything for me.
