Need some advice!!!
http://www.lapbandtalk.com/images/smilies/help.gif Hey there! Today went in for my post op appt I am 1 week banded and my insicions are healing well but I still feel very weak and even dizzy sometimes and the surgeon cleared me for work tomorrow!!! I am so pissed about that right now because I feel I'm not ready. She fed me some story about how Dr's use to be the one's who dictate when patients can rtrn to work and now she claims that every procedure has a certain time frame. How is that right? Everyone heals differently etc... I had female surgery last year that I was supposedly only to be out of work for a few days and that turned into a couple of weeks 'cause I went back to work prematurely! I'm sorry I'm venting but I don't know what to do and I feel somewhat disrespectful if I say to her that I disagree with her decision. Should I go back in spite of feeling I'm really not ready? http://www.lapbandtalk.com/images/smilies/depressed.gif OR should I stand up for myself and instead of seeing it as disrespect call her tomorrow and just tell her that I don't agree because I don't feel even safe enough to drive myself to work let alone work????

Please someone offer some suggestions, advice, in need of guidance!

Most Drs are very open about talking to patients when regards to returning to work. They (because of insurance companies and HR at work places sometimes) are made to say only a certain amount of time off depending on what the surgery is. However, If the surgeon feels that you are not ready then they can insist that you have off a certain amount of extra time. Then the insurance companies and HR normally will agree with what the dr has stated. Make sure that you tell the Dr. exactly what you have told us. That you feel too drained to even drive let alone to function. Some people take longer to heal then others and all people do not gain the same functioning status as each and everyother person. If you have a good Dr. then they should listen to what you are saying. It is your safety that is of the upmost importance. Fight for your rights. If all else fails you have your family Dr to go to and see if they can be an advocate for you with your surgeon or your company.

Glad that I could give you some sort of insite. Unfortunately most people don't know that they have the right to insist and if the dr is an advocate for the patient then they will do what is best for the patients and then there are those who could care less one way or the other cuz they have gotten their money and done their job.
