Go Nana, Go Nana, swing those sexy hips! As always, it's great to hear from you! You look beautiful and so happy!
Wanna share with us a bit more about how the revision to bypass changed things for you? How does it differ from the band? I'm sure we have a lot of folks who have considered the revision, perhaps you could share more about the differences between the two from your own perspective.

Good for you Nana! I'd love to hear about the revision too. I have another friend who is having surgery to repair her band and I'm curious to see if she ends up having the same issue as our Jess here. I'd love to hear how bypass is different and what the issues with it have been for you.

Nana, glad to see you posting! You look amazing, although I always thought you looked amazing! I've been wondering how you were doing after the revision. Like P'Nut said, give us some idea about how things have been since your revision. Of course I know about bypass issues, but with both you have completely different issues to deal with. You know the best and worst of both worlds, so to speak! Anyway, congrats on the loss and glad to see you posting again!

Heya!
Things that are different for me since the revision:
Sugars: I have only dumped once and that was right after surgery when they gave me a protein shake to take home no fun!
With Thanksgiving just past you know there was pie in the house- I had like 3 bites of pie total. I have found that if I do have something to eat or drink and it had sugar it makes me sleepy like zonk for 2 hours.
I do not crave sugar and my starbucks addiction is a thing of the past. I don’t think I’ve even had coffee in 6 months. Actually the thought of sweet things turns my tummy, which takes me to the next thing…
Salt: Omg my body is craving salt like crazy!…and pickles lol
I have no idea why. Not like potato chips or junk food but real salt. I put it on sliced tomatoes, apples, and warmed tortilla chips.
Fats: They don’t make me dump but they make me feel weak, and gross kind of that “man why did I eat so much” gross feeling.
Alcohol: I don’t do bubbles so I can’t answer any beer questions, but I am a Rita drinker.
One normal sized Rita is like 2 for anyone else. I hold a whoo buzz for about 20 min. then I’m okay. I don’t drink everyday and it’s a good thing too because the next day I have an upset tummy for a little bit. Nothing major though.
Food intake and foods:
I eat between 4 and 7 oz of food at a meal depending on the meal.
I can eat 4 hot wings, or 3 bites of steak, or almost ½ a hamburger patty (no bread)
I got so use to not eating bread for 4 years that I still don’t. I’m sure I could but when I want bread I roll up a warm tortilla.
I can eat Broccoli again! BUT now I cant eat EGGS or too much milk. That is all that I have found to give me issues. Eggs make me ill and milk I can tell by the way I feel if I had too much I would dump and I buy 2% milk. Milk- this includes ranch, sour cream, ice cream, eggnog, and other heavy items like that. I can eat a FF pudding cup though but I don’t want one.
In general:
I was revised in May so it’s been just at 7months (Dec 5th)
I was so scared when I found out my band had to come out and even more scared about getting the bypass. In fact I was crying so hard right before surgery the nurse came to let me know I could cancel my surgery if I was that nervous- I said NO! I’m scared about being put to sleep, you have to get this band outta me it’s hurting me!
I didn’t want to lose my band you can read more about here
http://www.band2gether.net/showthread.php?t=4699&highlight=nana%7E
I was really afraid that all the issues I was having with the band was going to become a lifetime thing with the bypass.
I was wrong. I am glad I went for the revision and not just a removal.
In the last 7 months ya I lost 60 pounds and dropped to a size 10/12 which is great (well not on our bank account cause I been having to buy new winter clothes!) but more than that I actually feel “normal” I don’t dread the next meal but I don’t linger over when the next meal time is either. What does that mean? Well pre band I was always thinking what the next meal would be, what to cook or where we would go. Then at the end of my band time I dreaded meals because I knew no matter what I ate it was coming back up followed by a night of coughing and puking tummy acid and blood.
NOW I spend all that wasted time doing things I enjoy like belly dance and hula hoopin’
We bought a new house it has a big yard and a pool, I enjoy working out in the yard now.
I have a lot more energy then before and I don’t take the B-12 shots
Dancing o my goodness I’m most excited about that! I love to dance I try to go out dancing once a week at least. I don’t have to worry about acid reflux ruining my evening.
Another change I have noticed and mentioned above is my food choices my body wants veggies I mostly crave carrots, tomato, avocado, and apples. Weird hu… my smell is different too not MY smell lol my sniffer hehe some of the moms out there will relate I’m sure.. When I was prego the smell of grease would make me ill, well the smell of grease will make me lose all interest in food. Once I had to leave a place cause the smell was making me ill :(
One last thing!
My 14 yr old daughter and I now share clothing! I wear a 10/12 which apparently is the same size as a 13 juniors! So the roles have changed! Instead of her raiding my closet I’m raiding hers! ESP. since money is tight and I don’t have and winter clothes LOL!
Sorry my post is so scattered I write the way I think ( a scatter brain!)
In short once I had the revision and felt normal again I hit the ground running and haven’t looked back! There’s no time to worry about the past just time for making a better future.

(Email from my Dr.)
Would you consider doing a TV commercial?
We’re still looking at a commercial of a mom who’s had WLS and is willing to be filmed with her kids in a swimsuit.

Oh my, Nana. What a journey. I'm glad things are going well for you now.
Here's a tip about clothes. Find a good consignment shop (one that is picky about the clothing they will accept. You can sometimes get really quality clothing (Think Ann Taylor) for a small amount.

Donna- If you are going to hula I can send you links to make your own! Don't buy a kids hoop at wal mart or t r us they wont work well for adults. A proper hoop sits between you navel and your heart. The bigger the hoop the easier and when you make your own you can add sand to weight it etc.
Kathy- good idea. I own 2 pairs of jeans but wear my daughters as well. What I did is ask my mum for clothing this Holiday :)
