JDru, I don't live that close, but I do come to Sandy once a month for my fills. Dr. Hansen also did my surgery.

Hi Utah-ites! I'm new to this site but live in Provo, UT and will be banded on Monday by Dr. Hansen. I'm excited (and nervous). Can't wait to enter bandland!
i decided a few days ago to tell my ten children--i had previously decided only to have DH (39 years of marriage tomorrow!) know but then realized how sad my kids would be when they found out and realized I hadn't told them. Mixed responses from all of them (of course) but ALL of them are supportive of my decision (again, of course!). They were wonderful and I'm thrilled by their support and encouragement.
One problem: last night by 80-year-old father was taken to the hospital with what they thought was pneumonia but looks like some other things are going on. There is no way in heck that i will ever tell my mother about my surgery so I've been doing the honesty dance ("well, Mom, I can stay with Dad Saturday night but not Sunday night and I'll be involved with other things on Monday...etc."). Argh. I'm also worried about catching hospital germs and/or getting sick from lack of sleep if I stay there through the night sleeping in a chair. I sound really selfish, I know. But his condition does not seem to be life threatening by any means and I've waited a long time for Monday to come. Well, I'm whining now. Thanks for listening.
Karla, your loss is amazing. I'm SO impressed! May we all do as well as you have.
Thanks for this thread. Do you ever get together or meet each other at support groups, etc. I'd love to be included if so. Good luck to all! Karen
Hi Karen! Good to see you here. :) We haven't ever met in person because it was really just Karla and me. But I know there is at least one more Utah bandster here (Designer Deb) so maybe we should plan something!

That would be great. Do you go to Dr. Hansen's support groups still? I know I'll go to the first three specialized groups but need to find the times out for the others and coordinate with my work schedule. Looks like you are doing great--hope I'm as successful as you!
I have been going to the support groups, but I was out of town for the March. I like to go there to meet new people in person, but I definitely get more support and info here. Once you graduate to the general support group there's also a dinner night once a month. I haven't been to one yet...but Vivienne will send you an e-mail about it. I'm so excited for your surgery on Monday!!

We should have a mini - B2G meetup :)
We should!! I know there are a couple of other people from Utah on here...but they don't post much. Let's plan something. :)

That would be GREAT! I'd love to do that. Realistically, I probably can't do it until after August 20 but I'd love to then. Let me know!
I think there is already a monthly dinner group in Utah that gets together. Vivenne at Dr. Hansen's office mentioned it and sent me some info last month but I couldn't go. Does anyone know about that? I got the impression it was for anyone who wants to come--not just Dr. Hansen's and Dr. Aldredge's patients. I'll keep my ears open.
I think the dinner group is open to everyone...but I've never gone to one yet. I'll let you all know when I hear about the next one.
