Just starting a thread to document hubby's surgery and journey... I am not sure he will join up, but I know you are all interested in his progress.
I'll post before pics on Thursday when I return to work if he is ok with it.
Surgery is tomorrow at 9:00AM! I will try and log on from my phone after he comes out of it...
Keep him in your prayers guys... I think he may be getting nervous! :wink2:

He is doing a lot better this morning. Gas pains have really gotten better... he said there were still some, but I told him to sip and walk today and it will get better. He gets SO excited when he burps (and he did mention that even feels different)
He was pretty drugged up last night and so mushy and loving, it was funny. He kept telling me and Madison how much he loved us and how hot I was and just ALL kinds of stuff. I should have recorded it. He is always very loving, but he was taking it to an extreme yesterday:):)

I haven't asked his permission for pictures yet... I think he wants to wait until there is a massive change.
He is feeling a LOT better... he is pretty much back to normal! :) On Saturday he was being a smart ass about something and I slapped his port incision without thinking :) IT wasn't THAT hard, but he cried about it all day. :):):) I barely tapped him, that's why I am laughing about it. I know it hurt, but it WAS an accident.
He is doing great... craving protein... he is wanting to eat fish almost everyday, which is great!
He got on the scale this morning... 306!!!! He was 324 on the morning of surgery!!! YAYYYYY BEAU!!!! :)

So how is my arch nemesis doing?
I figured it out while I was AWOL, he's trying to look as good as I do to keep me away from his girl. I can't say I blame him, but I don't have to root for him do I?
Alright I am secretly rooting for him...

He's doing good... we can both tell he needs a fill. :) His appetite is back and he wants to eat everything.
Last night he was at 301... so I guess we might get to see 299 this week :) I'll keep y'all updated on when his fill is.
He is just feeling SO much better already.

I just found your thread today Heather and spent a good part of the afternoon reading it...what an inspiration you are! I am happy that your husband has decided to join you and am sure with you on his side that he will do well. Congrats to you both! I am just starting on my own journey (banded on the 24th of Nov.) and can only hope to one day be where you are! Send some good vibes my way...I'm in Texas too!

Sounds like he is going great.
Doug has lost a bit more too - since I took responsibility for his fills, lol. I've booked him in again for the tenth!
Wahoo!! He's doing so well! :)

OK.... drum roll please!!!!!!!!!! HE was 297 this morning!!!
I slept in this morning and while I was getting ready I heard a really loud WTF is going on??? It scared me... so I run out into the hall where the scale is and he is grinning from ear to ear. :) He's getting excited.
He can get a fill next week, I guess it is going to be my responsibility to make his appt. though like you Jachut! :) He is ready for one, and I think it will just keep his appetite in check.
He also was able to put on a size 40 jeans this morning instead of his 42's. :)

What is it with men though? I mean, we have some super duper successful ones on this board, but Doug baffles me. He cant make his own fill appointments, he can wonder why he isnt losing much weight, but it doesnt occur to him to actually fill his band. He just says "oh, but then I wont be able to eat such and such" d'oh!
He doesnt know the calorie count of ANYTHING. He has never ever informed himself. Its up to me to tell him what to eat. He thinks about exercising but its completely contingent on me coming with him. Like he couldnt possibly do it alone, he cant reserach, think about what he might like to do, work himself out a program and just do it, its all up to ME to sort out for him, and if I've run that day and dont want to go for a long walk, then he simply wont go. And accuses me of not being supportive. I got mad last night actually, because I hadnt run in order to be available to walk with him and wanted to do our longer walk to compensate and I wanted to do it fast. But poor baby was tired. I pointed out that I had taught myself to run, had worked through it and done it on my own and where the heck was HE when I could have used support?
Its just bizarre. It truly is like he thought the band would be magic.
I mean, this guy is the CFO of a huge company. He's a genius at what he does. He's not stupid. Why is he such a baby when it comes to taking care of his own health?
Sorry to hijack Beau's thread Heather, just wondered if you'd observed any similar male behaviour patterns in your household.

Sorry I'm just reading Beau's thread but I am so glad he is doing so good and now he's in twooterville!! Toot, toot! I hope he has taken pictures-for his eyes only- if nothing else. You know that without pictures you tend to forget where you came from and although he doesn't want them now they are a blessing down the road and he will get in more and more pictures as time goes on. I'm almost like a kid now wanting in all the pictures. lol Tell him to keep up the good work, and get the fill!

Congrats, Beau! Heather, that is so awesome that Beau had surgery, too. I am totally jealous. I so wish Tim could get surgery so he could get some weight off, I worry about him so much. Jachut, I think what you are experiencing is man syndrome. My hubby does the same thing. Sometimes I think I need to tell him to go to the bathroom. LOL!

OMG~ I think it is a MAN thing. Sounds like Beau and Doug would get along great. Beau is a genius also at his job and he can handle EVERYTHING he needs to for his work...but once he walks in the house, he's done. It's like taking care of a toddler!!! I think they do that because WE LET them though:)
I'll be posting some pics of him soon. I am going to take some on the 12th for his one month and I'll post them.

Yes, I keep on telling him to get on here-but I don't know if that will happen. He was 296 last night. I wish he would weigh like normal people in the morning after he goes potty!!! :)

Beau had his very first fill today... no problems at all. He got 3cc's which makes me choke to even think about, since I only have 1cc. I know everyone's different. Dr. Spivak let me "consult" on the fill:) I got to see everything and he asked what I thought. I think he just likes talking to me. What a great Dr.!!! When Beau was getting weighed, I saw a new bulletin board in the office and low and behold... there was my picture. :) I was like, OMG Beau, LOOK that's me. He was embarrassed. It was just a black and white photo that I emailed them after year one.
Anyways... here I am talking about ME in Beau's thread. He needed a fill, and he got one.
Honestly he had gotten pretty brave about what he was eating and how much of it, so I told him he is really going to have to watch it now. I told him "No more chugging all that beer" in front of the Dr. :) Beau was so embarrassed.
I am going to take his one month pictures tonight and download them when I get into work in the morning.

Yay, here's to his continuing weight loss. He must feel the pressure to keep up with his super sexy wife.
Doug had a fill this morning, and i got back my other .1cc too. They were running so late I was still there when Doug arrived. Its really taken him this long to get his head round the fact that he has to limit his food intake and to accept that not being able to guzzle a pie and a beer doesnt not indicate overtightness! He's also coming off his blood pressure medication (he's THRILLED) as his BP has dropped. he's lost 10kg (25lb) since surgery in June but closer to 20 since his all time high when he went onto the medication.
I keep getting a shock when I see him - he suddenly looks so narrow!

It is amazing to see what a difference that 20-30 lbs can make Jachut. Yay for Doug too! It is funny for me to see Beau eating such small portions, even though I know it's "ok", it's still strange to see. I have to wrap my head around him eating like me now! :)
