I have my blood test results coming to me on thursday when I discuss them over with my doctor. I was wondering, if all tests come back negative, and my BMI is 38, do you suppose I still have a good chance of being banded?
I wanted to know what everyone's BMI was before being banded, and if they had co morbidities or not.
my bmi is 38, i am 215lbs and 5'3...anyone close to this that got approved?

I am 50 years old and had a BMI of 36.6 with 2 co-morbidities (high cholestrol and HBP) that had been controlled by medication for over 2 years. I was banded on 7/8/08. It can be done with the help of a great office staff and decent documentation from your PCP.

I'm 5'2" started at 220, BMI of 39. I had high blood pressure, asthma and insulin resistance for my co-morbidities and I was approved with no problem. Try to get as much documentation as you can!!

yay, so happy for all of you guys who have lost so much weight, i am pretty nervous about tomorrow, but i KNOW something will turn up positive. i hope it does because i need all of the answers i can get. if i have co morbidities, i should be approved without a problem. i have TONS of documents to prove how many attempts i have made to lose weight and i have documents from my doctors office stating the numerous times i went there concering my weight..i REALLY think this is meant to be, i just have to put my nerves aside, one more day!

started at 37, 6'3" and 503lbs,
I am now 39, 6'3" (I thought I would grow) and 330lbs,
Starting BMI (drum roll please) 62.5
Current BMI 41
No co-morbidities, which seemed to annoy some of the docs.
I have RA and Gout, have a history of knee injuries (terrible triad once on the right knee, twice on the left....several ligament and tendon tears and one patellar tendon tear with dislocation....several herniated discs between t3-t12)
I still have all of them, but I have no problems walking, no issues with stairs (no more one stair at a time), no problems getting in and out of the couch, more inspired to move then I can remember in a ton of time.

i was 28 years old on the day i had surgery. i am 5'5'' tall.
my surgery day weight was 310.5
my surgery day BMI was 51.7
that seems SO long ago now. i am currently 30 years old, still 5'5'', weigh in the 2-teens, and have a BMI of 36!
i agree with tami! some of you are so small to start. i wish i learned about the lapband before i ballooned up to where i did --- then maybe goal would be in sight... rather than very far off in the distance...
best of luck to you, melissa! :)

My BMI the day of surgery was 53.9, with the surgeon's cutoff at a BMI of 55. I am 5'7" and was 331lbs. the day of surgery. Two weeks earlier, I weighed 344 lbs. My current weight is listed below, but I have a LONG way to go. My pictures are posted in my album on here, if you or anyone would like to see them.
