:ohwell: I can't seem to do anything without getting tired still, I'm tired of feeling tired, is this normal, how long does it take to get up and around again, I can't stay in bed all the time. I do get up and walk, do a little laundry, and dishes, but after that I'm so tired, and I just want to cry all the time, what's wrong with me. Hugs Bobbie

Bobbie your body has gone from getting lots and lots of calories every day, to getting very few. Besides, your body is sitll healing from surgery. Around your time I started to feel like I had more energy, but I was wiped at the end of every day. It lasted a while for me, but it does get better. I think the wanting to cry all the time could be the emotional part of this journey coming through, or hormones - those little buggers. The change in your body could cause those to a little wacky too. Hang in there, it does get better! I always had read the stories about how people felt great after 2 days. Not me! I needed the two weeks I took off from work. Just remember that every day will get better than the last. :)

hey bobbie,
I agree with crispy , you need to give your body time to heal, We are all different. I had my surgery weds and i can definitely nap throughout the day. I also read once that the weepy part can come due to the anestisia ( cant spell that word for the life of me ) Just go with it if you need to rest then rest if you want to cry then go ahead you have nothing but better days ahead.. this is the beginning of a fabulous journey for you..your going to be just fine.

Hi Bobby, It sounds to me as though what you're experiencing is pretty "normal" - I certainly felt tired and weepy for 2-3 weeks after surgery; not to mention sore and ache-y! It *does* get better. I can only recommend reminding yourself why you got the band - and know that you've done a good thing for your health and well-being.
In just 3 short months, I've lost weight and - most importantly - much of my pre-surgery problems (high blood pressure, arthritis, joint aches, tiredness, difficulty walking) have all GONE AWAY! I'm still about 100 pounds overweight, but the 40+ pounds that I've lost have greatly improved my quality of life.
The band is SO worth the first few weeks of discomfort...
Please let us know when you start to feel better - and how it's going for you!

Bobbie.. I was a crier, and moody soul just after my surgery, up until about 4 weeks out. (I know that sounds like a long time). My Dr told me it was normal, and not to worry about it. He said I just went thru major surgery, and my body needs time to heal. It DOES get better, just know that ok? There were times I couldn't stand myself, and that's pretty bad. It's a good thing my hubby loves me.. lol
If you feel the need to cry.. cry.. let it out.. it's really ok to do that. Just rest, and heal.. remember it takes a body usually about 6 weeks to fully heal from surgery, even if it's done lapriscopically. (dang I did spell that right, the little spellchecker didn't show up.. lol)..
Take care k?

You already have some great advice here. But here are my 2 cents worth. hehehehe I agree with Donna the band my be laproscopicly but it is still major surgery and ultimately takes 6 weeks to heal as all others do. I was glad to be taking care of myself during the day while hubby was at work at 2 weeks. After the two weeks it seemed things got to feeling better every day. DON"T overdo or you will payfor it forever! The emotional rollercoaster is normal too. I still have them when my band feels tight ie during stress and after a fill. Kinda freaks me out to think about this little alien in me. Walk, walk, walk. Not sure you should be doing laundry unless someone's carrying it for you. You don't need to stand cooking and cleaning in my opinion either-no wonder you are so tired. Is there someone to help you? Trying to heal and resume everyday chores is enough to make a basket case out of many of us. So, please, ask for help for a little while.Walking is important but rest is just as important. Best wishes on your journey and let me know how you're doing ok?

I think a lot of us are so tired because of the drastic drop in daily caloric intake.
Strive to eat (or drink, depending on what stage of your post-op diet your are on) a minimum of 1,000-1,200 calories per day which includes 60 grams of protein.
Hope youre feeling tip top very soon!

Anesthesia makes you cry up to even a month after, dont worry your not loosing your mind, your body is detoxing. No one person is the same as another so what ever is going on is normal. Do as everyone says and talk to your Dr for reasurrance. You will get thru this part and wonder what the hell did I do, but later on you will find this will be worth it all.
Follow the rules though, be strict now on yourself remember this is just a tool the fat does not fall off by majic!!!
When your able start exercising, and drink alot and do your protein it aids in weight loss, if you cant do animal protein do the shakes!!! Drink your water and take your vitamens. And most importantly take good care of yourself, be kind to yourself.
It will be ok, I promise you no matter how long or short it takes to loose this weight you will I promise as long as you follow the rules.
You are not alone,
thinking best wishes and prayer

Ditto on all of the above! Very important... make sure you get your protein in,,, it will give you more energy and help you heal faster. If you can juice up vegggies like spinach in with fruit so you can get enough iron. You can also make yummy veggie and chicken soup and blend it all together and get lots of protein and other essential nutrients. Make sure you get enough water... dehydration can make us sluggish. Take care... and get fresh air... the more you stay in bed or indoors all the time the more tired you will feel.
Keep us posted...

I hope you are feeling better. I had my surgery on October 9th and I feel like crap too. I am so tired and I think it is just because of the liquid diet. I also had the surgery on Thursday and went back to work on Monday to a bunch of 2nd graders. This probably wasn't the best idea I have ever had but I am making it one day at a time. I am definitely still sore and have horrible indigestion and heartburn.
I did eat two bites of food today because I just couldn't stand being sluggish anymore and it really helped believe it or not. I am still trying my best to do the entire 10 days of clear liquids though.
Hang in there and I hope you are doing better.
Amy
