Hi All, so I've been excercising consitently for over a year. Today my husband (who hasn't run a step since bootcamp 20+ years ago started the first day in our brand new running shoes.

First thing I noticed as I was told, that a very good pair of running shoes does make a huge difference. I didn't feel the pounding at all. We were both psyched that we were able to run the 60 second intervals without problem.

It felt great to run again as I loved to when I was younger. I played sports in high school and always loved that physical activity. We are training to run the Waterbury VT LeafPeepers 5K and Half Marathon...the 5K part. Here is a link to the race.

awesome Andrea!!! I'm thrilled for you - and hubby is joining in - how great is that! I'm really proud of you girl - life is sometimes a struggle and you've definitely turned things around. Exercise is really empowering and I'm happy to report I've lived to start week 3 today lol - although I do it inside with A/C on a treadmill and want to die when I'm done each workout lol. Keep us updated as you travel through the workouts each week!

Mo-thanks for the support. What have you noticed in the three weeks you've been training? Do you have an idea of what race you want to run?

Andrea

Thanks Andrea! nope - NO race -- I'm just doing this to firm up -- I loved to RUN with the wind when I was in jr high - then once I hurt my back I couldn't anymore...so here I am doing it again at the age of 50! I have noticed that I can "easily" jog -- I don't push it as far as speed -- I want distance lol....

I look ahead to the next week's phase and I think - hmm maybe I won't be able to do that....but it IS a great preparation week to week -- and I didn't even feel "overly" challenged when I did my first 3 week today. I just warm up on the treadmill (I don't run outside - asthma/allergies) for 5 minutes at 2.6, then 3.0 for jogging and down to 2.7 for each walking portion. I do about a 20-22 minute mile....fast enough for me - and the scale is showing the results AND my clothes! those are 2 payoffs I'll celebrate any day :elephant:
