Hey All,
Did anyone watch the new show Baby Borrowers. It was filmed here in Eagle and one of Judah's friends is in the "pre-teen" portion of the show.
I can take or leave most reality tv but I actually enjoyed the show. It follows 5 teenage couples who are given a really nice condo, minivan, a job, and a child. In tonight's episode the couples had to take care of an infant for 3 days. The parents could watch tv monitors and intervene whenever they felt necessary. There was also a professional nanny present to make sure the children were not put in any dangerous situations.
Two of the couples did really well, two struggled and one couple was horrible. The girl got so defensive when the babys mom came over to give her some advice about how to feed and calm the child down that she refused to have anything to do with the baby for the next day and a half. Her poor boyfriend had to do everything including two night shifts with a fussy and teething baby. She elected to go to work (one of the teens had to earn a living). She was just as bad at the job. She had a terrible attitude and was, quite bitchy! I would have fired her. By the next morning, after her bf handled the baby all night, she decided he should go to work. They didn't show her interacting with the baby much after that--I'm guessing it's because the baby's parents wouldn't allow it. She was mean and uncaring toward the child throughout the show.
I think the experience really brought home to some of the couples (who all thought they were ready to become young parents) that it's not as easy as it seems.
In the next episode they will get toddlers for 3 days followed by pre-teens. I think they will also get an opportunity to care for the elderly (to simulate caring for elderly parents).
It was fun to see them filming around Eagle. Even Judah enjoyed it because he recognized all of the familiar places including the Eagle Skate Park, one of his favorite hang-outs.
