I am soooo happy to say Sushi goes down great for me.http://www.lapbandtalk.com/images/smilies/silly.gif I was afraid to try it, especially at a restaurant but we went out tonight and I ordered the Sashimi (just fish...no rice!!) and took small bites and was able to eat three pieces.http://www.lapbandtalk.com/images/smilies/hungry.gif

I can eat it fine, rice, seaweed and all. Its definitely a go slow food for me though, eat it too fast and I get into trouble. But because of the rice its very filling. One handroll will do me for lunch.

I don't think I could've handled the rice. I was full from 3 pieces of Sashimi. I think it was a great high protein dinner.

I haven't had sushi since before my surgery. I miss it bunches. I love the yellowtail and unagi (eel) sushi. I almost forgot about it.
I've had a few bites of rice since my surgery and it went down just fine. I don't eat it anymore but I'm sure one day I will again. I miss sushi!
There's this restaurant in Orlando called "Crazy Buffet" and it comprises of about 1,000 types or differently prepared sushi and chinese/japanese foods. I stay away from buffets now as I am just a waste of money and the temptation drives me insane.

We have this awesome sushi place right near my house...and the food is to die for.
I have gone of few times since being banded and I stick to what they call Naruto rolls, which is cucumber instead of rice and seaweed, and I also really enjoy their Spicy Crunchy Tuna bowl....Toro (the finer cuts of belly tuna) or O-Toro (our sushi chef makes this for me because he thinks we are wonderful...it's the finest cut of belly tuna) ground and served with japanese mayo or chili sauce.
If I could actually eat a entire Naruto roll and a tuna bowl I would be stunned, meanwhile when we first found this place, I would eat a tuna bowl and 4 rolls. My wife still feels bad since she has 3 rolls when we go (she can never finish the third roll...cracks me up every time...she gives me these big eyes and then will look down at the last two pieces of eel or california roll and smile) and she thinks i'm barely eating. This seems to be a common occurence right now. She is having her TOM and craves salty snacks...but will go inside and sit at the computer and eat a small pack of pretzels and then come back thinking its torture for me to see her eat. I keep trying to explain that i'm not hungry so it doesn't bother me. (Isn't that a breakthrough, last fill no more in between meal starvation feelings.)
