WLS exclusion

Kim or anyone else who might know, DH has insurance with BCBS of Illinois, he works for State Farm. Effective Jan. 1, 2007, his employer put a specific exclusion on his policy for WLS. Is there a way to get around this? I saw in a previous post for someone with Aetna where the employer might make an exception. Any experience with this with BCBS Il. or State Farm? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry just seeing this....When there is an exclusion there is nothing you can do to get around except going to his employer and seeing if they will cover his surgery. It has happened before so if his company is willing to help they can go to the insurance company and tell them they want it covered for him. I will tell you that BCBS IL does require a 6 month supervised diet......Do you have coverage? If so add him to your policy for a year and get the surgery and then change back. Just another thought!
