I know we all are motivated by different things. What is motivating you to lose weight?! What keeps you eating healthy & exercising every day?
Besides the obvious of wanting to have a healthy body & look hot, I gave myself a reward for when I reach my goal weight. I am going to treat myself to a full day at the Spa. I am only 16 lbs. away & I am so excited!!!! I have a picture of the Spa & all the things I will be having done that day hanging in my office to see every day to remind me. Here is what it includes:
Egyptian Secret Exclusive Pyramid Retreat Package includes:
Hydro Rose Petal Bath with jasmine oil
Parafango Body Treatment
Hot Rock Massage
Milk and Honey Facial
Catered Spa Lunch
Cleopatra Manicure
Spa Pedicure
Aromatherapy Treatment
Shampoo and Style
Make-up Application
One Dozen Red Roses
What have you chosen to reward yourself with?

Nothing really, we're really really needing to move and that's going to be expensive, so spa days and the like are ought for me, but I"m not really very interested in that sort of thing anyhow. Its just not me. Everytime I buy clothes though, it feels like a reward, its just so darn good buying normal sizes and gettign what I actually want and not just what fits.

Diane - What a great reward - and you are only 16 lbs away!! You will soon be being pampered before you know it! Egyptian Secrets also offers the "Suddenly Slender Body Wrap", I did these 3 years ago before a trip to Hawaii and they were the finishing touches on my body. They are pricey, you feel ridiculous - but I can honestly say that they worked. My first wrap - the most intense, I lost a total of 18" (they measure all your body parts). Let me know if you want any additional info.
We have a trip planned to Jamaica, Christmas - New Years. I was using that as my goal, but as it is still 3 months away I find myself not committing seriously because I know that I still have 3+ months. I am only 20+ pounds from goal, but lately the scale has been moving up - not down, and I'm full of excuses.
Red Mountain Spa (near St. George Utah) is on my "just for me" list for next spring as a treat - but I need something right now!! Thanks for starting this thread - it has made me rethink my motivation - or actually the lack of motivation.

It's funny because I am more motivated by fear, than anything. I just never want to get back to where I was. That's all my motivation. I have gained 8 pounds in less than 2 weeks. Let me tell you, that is what motivated me to go into boot camp mode. I have lost 3 of those pounds already. Need 5 more to go.

Death, death and a piano box sized coffin. I'm not just scared to die, i'm scared to die and have to be buried in a piano box.
Currently, I don't have life threatening issues, just joint and pain issues. I know that it won't last long though, eventually being this size will be the death of me.
My second inspiration is children, I want my own, but i'm not having kids if I can't keep up with them. I definitely don't want my kids to see me have a heart attack trying to show them how to ride a bike.

Every time I am out in public I have someone telling me I look amazing...that really helps keep me motivated.
Being on a "break" from my boyfriend right now....I really love sweating and seeing the scale go down everyday. If we get back together...which would be a couple of months, I will be at my goal and looking super hot. And if we don't get back together, I will be 21, single, and SUPER HOT and at goal weight.
I am starting to think about getting some PS once I am at goal also...so that motivates me. I want perky boobs :-)

My 40th birthday and seeing my brother! My family in the UK (except my mum) don't know I have done this. Next March, a year after banding it's my 40th and I'm having a big party in the UK. I am working it hard now so that when I go there everyone will be surprised at how much I have changed. This will then be my motivation to keep on going.
My brother doesn't think I can ever achieve anything...he thinks Im lazy and never get up off my couch (OK 6mths ago he had a point!!!). I want to see the expression on his face when he sees me 100something pounds down and looking and feeling better than I have in decades!

Well, I always told DH when I got under 200 lbs I would be buying a Mustang, but that isn't going to happen right now. I think my motivation is my little girl. Knowing that I can do anything that she will want me to without worrying about the way I look really inspires me.

I love reading about your motivations!! And all of yours are so cost affective!! Mine is so dang expensive. BUT, it's sure got me excited!!! :) :)
A1ikou - I loved reading your motivation. Your brother is truly going to be so surprised!! What a WONDERFUL motivation. I hope he still recognizes you!! HA!!
Heather - your little girl is very lucky to have you for her Mommy. :)
Emilee - Whether you get back with your boyfriend or not, you are going to be one "hot" chick because you already look great. I can't imagine you improving more then you already have!!!
503 - Your motivation of wanting kids is so wonderful!! I hope it all works out for you.
dascjp1 - Gosh, all I have to do is look at your avatar & I AM MOTIVATED!! That stomach is so hot. :)
Jachut - I hear ya. Buying clothes is so fun. Unfortunately, I would be buying them anyway. I love to imagine what I would like in a new size. My goal is a size 10. (I'm 5'8!) What's yours?

My motivation is my cruise in 46 days, I am so excited and just can't wait till that time comes. I am doing everything in my power to stay focus and continue to maintain my goal weight of 175lbs.
Last year on a cruise at this same time, I was around 240-250lbs and not really loving life even though I was banded. This time will be a different story, the plane ride will be comfortable, putting on a bathing suite will not be an issue this year and wearing shorts all week will be a blast, I just can't wait.
What a difference my band has made.

My personal motivation is going to the club every saturday and feeling sexier and more confident. I get out on the dance floor more often, and my feeling of being watched and judged is quickly dissapearing.
My physical motivation is a close friend of mine coming to my house every morning and dragging my fat butt to the gym for at least 2 hours of hard sweating. It really makes me feel good, knowing that someone cares enough to take such a forward approach to helping me with my goals.

I'm motivated by leg pain from a pinched nerve. I had spinal injections one week before and after my lap-band. I was told my weight loss should permanently correct the problem. The shots have worn off, and the pain is back. I see my pain management specialist next week, and plan to schedule another series of injections. If I can lose as much in the next 4 months as I have in the last, one more series of shots may do it. If I don't get the weight off, I'm afraid I'm facing back surgery.
All the other motivators are icing on the cake.

Karen- You'll do it! Your doing so great!
My motivation right now is another trip. I'm going with my sister to Cancun for 4 days in December. Then my motivation is Christmas. I will be seeing relatives I haven't seen in over a year.
Baby steps for me. One day at a time. Overall motivation is to be as healthy ans happy as my 97 year old grandmother. Who BTW is flying to see us in Nov and celebrate her

Amen!!! I feel exactly the same way and for me it is more difficult since I have been bandless for a year now! The other thing that motivates me is al lthe compliments I get on a daily basis on how great I look and being able to shop in "Normal" sizes for clothing.

My motivation is my grandkids. If I get this weight off now, well within a reasonable length of time, then my grandchildren will never remember me as a fat Grandma....just their normal Granny...ok, as normal as I can be!!!

Right now, I can squeeze myself into most standard store size 16's (Australian 16's, which are smaller than US, more like a 12-14). That's what size I always was as a teen.
However, its suddenly dawned on me that with some weight training and another 10kg, a 14 is right there waiting for me. That would be the achievement of a lifetime to me. And I now have faith I can do it. So I'm really focussing on that.
But you know, I've really started to realise that there is no need to settle for the average old age either. I'm about to hit 40 in 9 months, so I've been thinking about this lots. I WILL still be running at 70. I am going to keep muscle on my body. I am not going to just accept getting "old". Retirement is going to be a BLAST for Doug and I, we are going to travel and see the world. We've been so focussed and disciplined in saving and investing for it, but I've now realised that keeping my body in tune is a part of it. The more work I do and the more consistently I do it the better - I will be climbing Ayers Rock at 65, and I will be able to do it an enjoy it!

Pure fear motivated me! I was scared stiff that weght would destroy my independance- I have lived with severe chronic pain for 15 yrs, I have MS, I'm an amputee and I'm wheelchair bound. I had a falre of my MS late last year that made me lose feeling and strength in my remaining leg- I struggled to transfer from wheelchair to chair etc. The thought of having to rely on carers and lifters etc to do basic tasks scared me- I can't change the MS etc but I can cahge the excess weight.
Good luck with the pain managment, chronic pain sucks big time ( really big time), its amazing the difference a good pain managemtn clinic can make- for me it was quite literally a lfe saver
