Hey all, just wondering if anyone has tried out the new Wii Fit? I had heard mixed reviews and wanted to see if anyone has used.

I just got mine today and have played around with it a little. The little I've tried was fun. I did the hula hoop, jogging, down hill ski and steps. It was fun - I think I liked the jogging the best.

I love my WII fit!! Even my husband likes it and he is one of those types who eats anything he wants and loses weight.

I love the jogging, the snowboarding, the exercises, hula hoop, I think I like everything but Yoga.

I would love it if I could find the damn thing! NOBODY around here can keep it in stock! I call and they have one or two, but by the time I can get there they're gone. Nobody will hold one for me, either. It's so frustrating!

I've heard positive and negative reviews. Some have said, it would be better to just do the excercises. I'm of the mind of it will help you get excercise in arerobic and strength, then why not do it if you can affoard.

The console was 250 bucks. The WII fit was 80 bucks!! It was worth it for me! I do my Bowflex and Treadmill, the WII fit makes the exercises FUN!! I almost don't think of it as exercise because it's fun!

I already have the console. I LOVE my Wii, but of course I am a video game freak! I have been a boxing fool lately, impatiently waiting to find Wii Fit somewhere, anywhere, that isn't chargeing like double the price for it! Every day at lunch, I drive around to different stores looking for this darn thing. It's so frustrating! I want it because I like the fact that it tracks your progress and it has the step aerobics. I know it's not supposed to be the only form of exercise you get, but it's better than what I'm doing right now which is absolutely nothing! Well, nothing other than Wii boxing I guess.

Tonya you can get it on Amazon.
My favorite is Hula Hoop while balancing Starbucks. Lol.
Just the Hula Hoop is challenging enough. DB

Yeah, you can get it on Amazon for double or more what it's retail costs are, plus shipping! I was born at night, but it sure wasn't last night! I refuse to pay more than retail for any product, regardless of what it is!

Dustbunny
06-10-2008, 09:04 PM
I paid $89, no shipping. is that more than they are selling elsewhere? I didn't know. DB

ladytonya
06-10-2008, 09:06 PM
No, $89 is what they're supposed to be selling for. Go to Amazon and search for Wii Fit. Amazon doesn't have any in stock themselves so they just have the partners, and they're like $150 and $200. Crazy! It's the same on eBay. Ridiculous.

I finally found one! Got it tonight at K-Mart! Yeah! It was weird because there were none out, but I asked the guy working behind the counter and he said yeah, we have some in the back. He went back and gone me one, but didn't bring any others out. So, anyone out there looking for one, ask! Maybe they're not out. I thought it was very strange, but regardless I was happy! I worked for over an hour with it but got credit for 45 minutes. It is so fun!

I got on my Wii Fit last night but it was after midnight and it chastised me for skipping a day. I love it! It was funny because the little animated balance board is just so cute, then it started fussing and I was laughing and my husband thought I was crazy! LOL! Anyway, I really do like this little toy. It is a toy, but it is also a tool. The advanced step aerobics and the running in place thing kicks my butt! I LOVE the yoga, except I have no balance when it comes to standing on one leg so I absolutely cannot do the tree pose! Anyway, I am rambling but I just had to come on and talk about this little animated balance board. I love it!

Ok I think I may be cursed! I finally got one, my hubby _had_ to try it first LOVED it. So when my turn came I was all excited. I did the a couple then went to the ski jump, on my third try just as you have to straighten your legs I heard and felt a pop in my (bad) knee. Grrr!!! Wii Fit is currently on hold until it feels better.
My husband really really likes it and from what I have done it has been great also.
The only things that I don't like is the start / stop on some of the games, but other than that Love it!

I used my Wii Fit last night for 1 hour and it was a good work out! I was going to join a fitness center but I believe this will suffice for now. I like it more than I anticipated I would and it is so much fun that the time flys! By the end I was soaked and felt it in my muscles. I have some tightness today but no soreness. I'm still using the beginner's exercises since I've only had it a short while. I just hope it will be useful at higher levels as I advance. It will work out all parts of the body and is great for getting your balance back. As of now I would highly recommed it.

I just got my wii fit for Christmas. I used it christmas day and am using it the second day. Like any thing if I do not use it often it will not help me much. I love what i have played on it so far. My 16 yo son had joined in it is nice to compete against him. I do not like when my fit tells me i am not balanced or doing well. (can you say insecure vanity??) The thing is it is true. So I will keep working on it. I plan on unlocking EVERYTHING I can. I will do all the different parts even the one's I stink at. I have found out that if i ever got stopped for DWI I would fail standing on one foot even when totaly sober. lol. I am looking forward to knowing it my balance will improve over time. Soo who is with me and wants to keep posting on how things are going??

I just bought my Grand nephew wii with wii play and wii sports for Christmas, and my sister and I are waiting for the day when noone is around so we can try it. My family is a very competitive group and personally I don't have any desire for them to see me look foolish. If I enjoy it, I think I will be getting one for myself that will include the wii fit.

Dustbunny, I like the hula hoop along with the dance step one. I was able to unlock the boxing one... WOW oh WOW I was sweating by the end and breathing hard. i would have never thought that would happen.
New Life, i totaly understand not wanting to look foolish. I feel the same way. I would guess that after you play for a while you will find you either like WII or not there does not seem to be a middle ground. Good luck either way as you say one step at a time.

I have to tell y'all a funny Christmas/Wii story. My 12 year old has barely played a video game once or twice while visiting friends. My husband gets the idea that Wii/Wii fit will be good for her and he proceeds to buy it for her for Christmas. Keep in mind he purchased the thing back in October and throws it in a drawer, all puffed up and proud that he's Done with shopping for the season.....silly, silly man. Course, I'm working and in school (both full time, mind you) and I decide to 'trust the process'.

Fast forward to Christmas Eve.....at midnight....we're wrapping the princess' gifts. Everything gets wrapped and I ask him to bring out the Wii/Wii Fit. He dutifully drags out a bag, opens the bag and hads me the Wii Fit and another game. So, I says to the goofy man, 'where's the console?'. It's there, he assures me. I turn the bag upside down and nearly put my head in it....'no console here', I say.

The long and short of the story is.....he purchased the console but it never occurred to him to look in the bag Before he left the store. He'd been distracted....he says it was the looking for the xtra game that distracted him....last time I was there, really cute, really young girls were working there!

Anyway, we had to quasi spill the beans about Santa, drag our sorry selves to Toys R Us and beg for understanding and compassion and our previously purchased but never possessed Wii. I think the kid just took pitty on two old farts who were obviously rambling on and on. We'll get the console when the next shipment comes in.. no charge.

Moral to the story.....trust in God...but...tie your camel. (hope the husband doesn't read this and think he's God....dear me....)

Needles to say, we're all excited about trying out the Wii....when it gets here!

I love my Wii and Wii Fit. I asked for Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum 2009 (http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?sku=230344) for Christamas and got it (I am a HUGE Biggest Loser fan). The game is lots of fun and a real workout. You don't have to have the balance board but it wouldn't be as good of a workout without it.

Jezzie,
You guys are so fortunate that they were understanding and willing to work with you. In a day and time when retail companies get all the bad press of only looking for profits here is a company that listened and took the right action. A letter to the store manager and Toy's R us president would be well recieved. Anyway.... Congrats on the WII/WII fit and good workout using it.
Jess,
keep me informed on the Jillian fitness I would love to know how you feel after using it for a while. Now a days with things being so expensive it is so valauable to have a trusted view on how good things are.

Kristina,
I love my WII fit. I did have to go out to buy a mat so when I was on the floor it did not hurt so much.. I am cheep when it comes to $$ so here is what i did for the mat. Wii fit mat is around $30 ish Walmart had a yoga mat for $10.00 but it was so thin I may as well just got a beach towell. I then saw a nice one thick enough with all the weights in walmart around $19.00 I was going to get that one and then I saw a camping sleeping bag ground egg mat only $13.00 as thick as the $19.00 one and i can use it to sleep on when i am in the dog house with wife, killing 2 birds with one stone. so i got the egg mat one and it was a pretty blue one to boot.
Ok back to WII fit. I do not like that it yells "ow" when I step on it. It also says "thats obese" when it figures my BMI.. The last thing i dislike is if I miss a day it is sarcastic and says " what to busy to work out yesterday Rich" Boy it nags me. LOL but hey at least it cares enough to be honest. ROFL.
I do like that the time goes fast and I am getting a pretty good workout I know in the last 14 days i have done more with the WII the i have with a treadmill or at Snap fitness center so it is doing what I need it to do.

LMAO. i always call her a biotch when she sighs as i step on! hehehehe. it gets me pumped and ready to work out. i have found that if i stick to the hard core areobics..like the advanced step--and the hoolahoop..or running...for at least 30 min. u get more of a workout. after that i do the yoga and strength training, and of course the balance games...lol!
i am a huge gym rat..so i have to make it work for me-- u know?
and after 30 minutes of advanced hoolahooping..i am sweating like i ran 2 miles! i find it hard to believe but its true!

How ever.. I love my hula hoop waaay more! Cause I can dance around with it and its GREAT core work out I'm using 2 pound weighted hoops now.

I know this is about WiiFit BUT If you have Wiifit then you must have a Wii So I wanna ask if any of ya have animal Xing? I'd love to visit your towns!

Don't buy one make one. The ones you buy are too small kid sized and under weighted. They will only frustrate you. An Adult hoop should stand between your navel and your heart. I don't wanna thread steal so I'll make a hoop thread with links to good sites and how to's! My goal is to get good enough to poi hoop oooooo me likes Fire!
P.s the est cal. burned for 1 hour hooping is 325 but when you move into weighted hoops it bumps to 800 per hour.
I normally hoop about 1 to 5 hours a day. No Joke. I get my kids and friends over and we put the DJ on shuffle and hoop hoop hoop. It's a lot of fun and learning new tricks is cool too.

Hi all! I haven't posted for awhile - as usual life gets in the way of "me time". Anyway, bought the Wii Fit 2 weeks ago and I'm LOVING it! Started with the simple balance games and yesterday I ventured into the yoga games - while they are still way out of my league - just doing the "halfmoom" has ab muscles calling out that I have not heard from in decades!! I highly recommend the game board - it keeps it fun and for those of us who are "private" about our numbers - you can use a password and "lock" your personal info - weight - only you have access to it - so it is great for the whole family!
2 weeks ago my Wii fit age was 69 (I'm 52) - ugh! This morning my Wii fit age is 59 - wow I trimmed off 10 years in 2 weeks!! I haven't seen a huge drop in weight yet - but surely it will come - it has to - I have so much more energy now! :elephant:

Hi Cindy - very long time no see! I'm so glad you're back.....I know about life getting in the way lol..........

I bought a WII for a family present last Christmas - and it's worth every dime. I immediately purchased Wii Fit and the board -- I agree - it's an excellent workout. I've moved on and now I'm hooked on Wii Sports -- I play tennis, baseball and bowling on my own for a good workout for 30+ minutes straight, and definitely sweat - or with my younger son who keeps me on my toes lol.

I did the Wii Sports workout or something like that - it's on the same screen as the sport games are listed -- it only lets you do it once a day - and I've been as young as 27 some days, and as old as 53 others (I'm 51) lol....it just depends what they test me on - but it's a lot of fun! I forget my Wii age on Wii Fit but definitely younger than my true age.

Hey Jess-when you unlock free step you can switch over to regular tv as the free step counts down through the remote. So you walk up and down the bench and watch tv. The remote will tell you when you have one minute left at which time you can switch back to the Wii screen and see how many steps you did. I average 3800 in 30 minutes. My personal best is 4430. I was really moving to get that many. I do notice that if I go to fast the step count isnt that accurate. A steady pace seems to count better. Let me know if you still cant figure it out.

Just saw a commercial for a new Wii Fit game. It's called Active from EAS sports. I saw this thingy that wraps around your thigh. I assume it measures or counts for some of the activities in the game. I will wait for it to come out and then read a few reviews (on Amazon) and then decide to buy or not. I did that for the Jillian Michaels and was glad I didn't waste my money.

Update: I just read some additional info-the cost is $55-70. It;s being touted as your own personal trainer. It shows calories burned and is suppossed to push you to your limit.

Did you know-that there is a riser for the fit board to make it higher so you can get more of a cardio workout? It's $30 on Amazon.com

Did you know that there is a game coming called Wii Resort? It's an interactive beach activity game. You can play frisbee, and beach volleyball to name a few. Comes out mid June. $50.

hey Monte! I saw the same commercial - it looks like a good game! A bit more advanced than Wii Sports - I break a sweat with that after an hour of doing sports alone and straight through the hour - but the new game will step it up I think! I can't wait until it comes out!

Hi I got the Wii fit for Mother's Day this year. I really enjoy it!
The one concern I have (and is it just me?) is that my daughter who is 7 keeps weighing herself and saying I lost a lb or I gained a lb One time it said she was at risk being overweight and you could see she was a little freaked out. I try not to talk weight around her and I think this is putting it at the forefront of her mind. I wish it didnt offer the weighing option every single day.
Like I said it might just be me, but its concerning.
What do you guys think?

BrendaC

Kat can you fix hers where it will not weigh daily? I haven't looked so am not sure. And we all know the board is not always very accurate on its weight but I'm not sure a 7 year old would understand that bc it bothers me when it is off several pounds!!

I think you're absolutely right - a 7 year old definitely should not be focusing on weight -- do you have Wii Sports? I'd switch her to that - she can play different sports and still get a great workout without focusing on weight. My 11 year old got the "you're almost overweight" too - and it definitely didn't make him feel very good - he is at the 95% but is at 75% for his height (just had a physical last night for school) and his BMI is fine. I think it's dangerous for our young kids to focus on weight, rather than just being active.
