Ok...this happened to me a few weeks ago, but I want to ask if it has happened to you and what you think might have caused it. I was at the bar working one night, helping out the owner of the club we go to all the time. I had no food, and had been drinking water all night. I was fairly active running around and doing normal bartender "get the people drunk" type things. All of a suen i got the wave of naseau come over me and I ran to the bathroom. My last sip from my water had been about 20 minutes earlier. (here comes the TMI) I got to the bathroom and the nausea passe before i could get to the sink. I was happy cause the stalls were full an i hate puking in front of people. I turned around and started walking back tothe bar when it hit again. I ran back to the sinks and went into the "grab and pray" stance. My stomach convulsed, I retched, and one very loud, very large burp came from my body. No spit, no bile, no stomach acid, no water, no food. Just a huge belch. It almost hurt it was so much air. My stomach instantly felt better. I went back out and continued the evening.
Um...what the heck happened there??
On a sie note, I am one of those people where I cannot stand to do anything unlaylike around people. that includes burping and farting. When I came out of the bathroom my male friends were cheering for me...saying that it was award winning. I wanted to die of embarassment. Just stick me in the beer cooler and thaw me out when the night is over!!

It's not just you. I get air trapped all the time. It makes me feel like I am especially tight. (lovin' the missing 'd') I can usually get it up in little burps with liquid, or if it gets too bad I get a case of the hiccups.

My DH looks at me like I have been possessed.
I figure the burping is saving me from gas pains and equally loud flatulence, but it is still weird/gross.
Sorry you were embarassed, but it was a funny story.

Me too, I can burp for literally 2 minutes, there's no "pressure" behind it, it just rumbles out. The kids are VERY impressed.

I've had a couple of impressive buuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrpppppppppppssssssss myself.
I'm with you Funny uddies, I'd rather explode than have my husband (or anyone!) hear me pass gas. Since being banded we've kind of learned to live with it/ignore it.
We were married for almost six years before my husband heard me pass gas. lol It was in the hotel the day after my surgery. It felt so good to offload some of that gas that I just didn't care!

LOL the first time my husband ever hear me fart was while i was in labor with out first child. hehehehe there were other things for me to worry about, like the immense pain i had with my contractions, than whether i was lay like or not. needless to say, i still apologized profusely after she was born, and was so embarassed.
He honestly thinks it is hilarious.
I never was a burper. But you are right, I can feel them with a slight pressure and then I need to burp right away. So far I have been able to keep them private but who knows when the little devils will sneak up on me? It sure is weird.

I did something similar Funny! I felt a terrible feeling in my chest & knew I was going PB or something. It would come & go. Strange, strange!! After about 15 min. I went into the bathroom with my head over the throne totally prepared for something to come out. But, instead a loud burp came out & I could feel it way down inside. It scared me!!!! The only person home was my 2 yr. old who immediately came into the bathroom and said - "Mommy, wat u did?!?!?!?!"
I think the band traps a lot of air sometimes & it can be painful. When I was telling my husband about it, I explained it as an air PB. It didn't feel like a normal burp. It felt like a PB that was all air. STRANGE!!
So glad I'm not the only one! :) :)

that is exactly like mine diane. it was not like a normal burp. it almost felt like it came from deeper inside. and it was most certainly not a little air bubble but one gigantic balloon of air.
the 2 yo comment cracks me up! LOL One of my kids could have said that so easily.

I had the same thing happen to me often, the reason for mine was I had gastritis. I would get nauseaus run to the bathroom and then burp and feel great instantly. I had no idea I had gastritis until I was told by my Dr when I had an endoscopy. No reflux or heartburn no other symptoms associated with gastritis all I had was lots of burping. I took prilosec for 2 months and it all cleared up.
