Hey Bama friends,
I just wanted to encourage you to post here. It takes a community of support to be successful banders and I know that there has to be more lapbanders in Bama than 2. I'm coming home for Christmas to visit my Mother in B'ham and then down to Auburn and Eufaula. I can't wait. I do hope it's cold cause those hot Bama Christmas' are always strange . . . don't you think?

Bye now

Oh, Judy! Don't count on cold! We're at 80 degrees today!! It is positively scorching!

Maybe it is better up in North Alabama but down here in Mobile it is almost a summer day. It will be a bit odd if it doesn't cool down before Christmas. It is hot, even for Mobile standards this week! I haven't looked at the 7 day outlook this week, so I guess we still have a chance to cool off some. We've been known to run the heater and the airconditioner all in the same day you know! LOL

Hi Hope,
Here in NC it is 53-57 degrees today and just saw that it's going to be 50 on Christmas . . . I'm packing shorts!!! :cheer2: I pray you ARE GOING TO HAVE A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS. Look out for your band and you'll have a happy new year!
Merry Christmas Always,
Judy

Thanks, Judy. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas also!

Maybe you should bring an umbrella too... LOL. It is looking like LIQUID SNOW in this neck of the woods. LOL. Maybe the rain will cool things off some. I see our highs are predicted to drop back down into the mid-60's by weekend. That will be a welcomed change from this summer-like weather we are having.

Is the weather pretty mild there? Do you guys get snow? My company is opening an office there and I've been thinking of transferring. How far are you from Raleigh?

Oh how amazing is that. Come on cause the NC lapband support group here is world-class. I just meet most of the group down in charlotte this past Saterday. I live about 1.5 hours form Raleigh. The weather here year round is very close to that in B'ham but never the humitity of Alabama. You might miss Gulfshores; I know I sure miss those beautiful wite sandly beaches. There is none like them anywhere in the world.

Well, got to go just now.Talk to you soon.

Alabama weather without the humidity?!? My hair will go into shock! :scared: LOL. I have to say, though, that I couldn't stay away from Gulf Shores long. My kids love the beach almost as much as I do. But, I have lots of family here and would be here visiting all the time if I did decide to make the move.

I was right. Rain is moving in and the temp has certainly cooled off! We had to walk to a meeting downtown at the site Owner's office and it was a bit nippy. Maybe you should pack a few long sleeve shirts in with those shorts. LOL. At least a windbreaker or something. LOL

Thank-you Hope I will. I loved the hair comment cause I had already thought about how my hair and skin are going to fell s-o-o-o good by also being home. By the way did I read somewhere here that you are waiting to have WLS? I hope it is going well with you and pray you will also have a very Merry Christmas. I'll talk to you more in the New Year.

Judy . . .Bama Bound, Oh yea!!, Bama Bound:rapture:
(Although I am an Auburn Grad)
PS: I borrowed your drama queen and added it also to my signature. It's adoriable and fits my current step in my lap-band journey. . . Thank-you!

Judy,
Hope your Bama vacation went great! The rain held off for us on Christmas Day but we did get cold weather again, which was nice. Let me know how your trip was! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas Holiday!

Unfortunately, you read correctly. I haven't been able to have surgery yet. BCBS of AL doesn't cover the band and I just can't talk myself into having the bypass. So, I'm going to try to save up some money so I won't have to take out such a huge loan to pay for it. I'm on the prescription diet pill Adipex right now and it seems to be helping. I've lost about 13 lbs. and am into my second month of taking them. But, I know it is a temporary thing so I am still aiming for surgery this year.

If you ever make it down here to Mobile on one of your Alabama trips, let me know. I'd love to meet you! (That goes for anyone else out there that may be reading this, too. )

Oh, and we drama queens don't mind sharing. LOL. What's drama without friends to share it with? :D

I life in Falkville Alabama. I just got banded 11/13/09 so I am very new to everything. I am looking forward to this journey. I have been overweight all my adult life and I am 65 so this is my last chance. I wish they had this 40 years ago. After I recover from the surgery I will be very happy.

Hi Everyone. I also live in Alabama. I live in the little town of Falkville in North Alabama. I was banded on 11/13/09. I am looking forward to beginning this journey. I went to the doctor today and I have lost 6 1/2 lbs already in less than a week. I was thrilled. This was definitely the best decision. I graduated to full liquids today and just love it. I was getting a little tired of jello.
