Man oh man is this uncomfortable. I've been feeling tighter and tighter the past few days - have had several PBs even on mostly mushies and liquids. Today I can't even keep liquids down - maybe 50% gets through and the rest comes back up eventually. I just talked to the nurse and she said it's probably from all the drainage from this cold and reommended I try 1tsp meat tenderizer in 2 ounces of warm water. I sure hope it will help quickly... it was only annoying before - now it is painful and uncomfortable even sitting up. I wonder if something is actually stuck in there or if it is almost completely swollen shut. I do NOT want to have to get an unfill - I don't think I could lie down for one right now anyway! Send up some prayers that I'll open up tonight. Thanks!

Gina -I am sorry to hear how miserable you are. The meat tenderizer will help, also do you have any chewable papaya enzyme? Those are also supposed to assist in breaking everything down also. Also I think that your Kathy swears by aloe juice??? Hey she comes up with this hippie remedies not me, me I'd be suggesting boysenberry syrup! Anyway I will be thinking of you, I hope you feel better soon. Don't worry, I'll pick up the slack on your starbucks consumption!!

Gina...I'm so sorry to hear you are suffering so much! It's definitely something I've had some concerns about - I usually get pretty bad with upper respiratory infections during the winter months which then kick asthma into gear too -- hopefully the meat tenderizer helps -- let us know if it gets better! HUGS!

OK this is officially the pits. I drank the meat tenderizer and managed to keep it down for about 15 minutes followed by rather violent wretching. If anything was stuck, I don't think it could have survived that but I could be wrong. I did feel a slight bit of relief for a while but not much. I'm now trying again to sip the meat tenderizer and I feel painfully full after an ounce. Has anyone else had this happen?

Gina,
Sorry you are having problems. I hope things get better soon!!
I was really tight a few weeks after my last fill. It seemed to get worse as time went on. So, I went in and had the nurse pull out .2 cc's it was such a small amount but it really helped. I did it before I got too bad. So I wasn't swollen and they didn't have to empty my band.

Gina...I hate that you're having these troubles. If you need Aloe juice it is at Walmart over where the antacid stuff is in the pharmacy area. I can't drink the stuff, but it is supposed to be soothing. If it doesn't get better, call the nurse again tomorrow and maybe they can take a smidge out? It doesn't have to be much to make a big difference.

So sorry to hear you are not well - that's no fun. It kind of sounds like you might have a stomach bug also? I had never ever heard of meat tenderizer and water - what is the purpose of it? Soothes or makes things come up easier?
Best wishes and take care...

The meat tenderizer is supposed to act as an anti-inflammatory and shrink the stomach tissue a bit. Didn't work for me.. I've now thrown up the rest of it and have given up. I think I'll have to prop myself up to sleep tonight, if I can sleep at all. I'll be calling in the morning for sure... it has gotten so much worse in 12 hours. I literally can't even get water to go through - it's a little scary.

Gina - you need to call your doctor ASAP and/or go to the emergency room - if you can't keep anything down or sleep laying down (even with pillows propped) there is definitely something wrong! Please take care of YOU

OK - feeling MUCH better now. I used a Phenergan suppository last night and was able to sleep. I sipped warm chamomile tea slowly through the morning but only got about 4oz down so I went in for a slight unfill/ They took out .2 and I'm supposed to stick with room temp or warm liquids for 48 hours and progress very slowly to mushies, take my time so the irritation and swelling can go down. I've been able to drink about 16 ounces over the past couple of hours now and the fluids are making me feel much better. Thanks so much for everyone's thoughts, suggestions and prayers!!

Phew! I know I'm not the only one here who is relieved to hear you got a slight unfill and can get liquids in! I was a bit worried for you girl - take it slow and easy (like those first days banded) and hope you get to feeling better soon HUGS!

Thanks Donna!! I just love that we can give and receive so much genuine care on this board! I'm feeling soooo much better. The soreness from all the throwing up has gone and I've had some mushies successfully and I'm rehydrated. DH and I had a fun day out at Latta Plantation... they were having a "Carolina Back Country" Day and had a lot of historical exhibits from the 1800s... blacksmiths, weavers, etc. My favorite part was petting the SWEEEETEST 8 week old little lamb... it licked my hand!!! It was so adorable! We're about to have a late dinner and watch a movie

Gina:
I'm so glad things are better, I'm just seeing this now. i know how miserable too tight can be.

I had a slight unfil on Friday, and it's so good to be able to eat and never see it again. I held on for about two months of hurting every time I ate solids and pb ing nearly every dinner. I put on 4 pounds and couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. I talked to Susan /P'nut and she told me again that I need an unfil, so I listened this time and went in to the doc. He took out half a mililiter and it made all the difference. I was feeling a pulling feeling all the time in my chest and didn't pay attention to it until it went away. I feel so relieved. Thanks Susan!(for nagging me:0) DB
