I just got back from my appointment. I have gained 2 pounds from my last appointment and I heard the heartbeat. It was 150 bpm. Everything I've read indicates it's a girl, which would be awesome.
Because I'm over 35, I will see a perinatologist on April 14th to discuss genetic testing - blood test vs. amniocentesis. It's possible I may find out what I'm having at that visit, but I'm not holding my breath. That will only put me at 15 weeks.

Glad everything went well! I think the heart rate thing is more accurate the further along you are but this baby's over the past few months has been in the 150-160 range and she is a girl! I think hers started out in the 140 range. I'm so excited for you!

Thanks, Alicia. I'm hoping for a girl, but would be just as happy with a boy. We'll see what happens on May 1st when I go for my next appointment.

Glad to hear everything went well! I can't wait to hear what you're having. I'll be crossing my fingers for a girl. :)

Hi Tricia,
I haven't been reading the board for a couple months now but I was wanting some pregnancy support too. I am 12 weeks along myself and my OB is a little concerned because I am still losing weight. 8 lbs in two weeks and another 3 at the last 2 week appt. I have actually lost more weight since I discovered I was pregnant and got my band un-filled than I had the 2 months prior. Weird! I am eating. Still have issues with a few foods due to the small restriction even from the empty band. Are you having any similar issues?

I was losing weight a little bit at first but now it has tapered off. My OB didn't see any cause for concern because many women lose weight during their first trimester. If your OB still has concerns, maybe you should have regular blood work, etc. done to rule out any potential problems. I think your weight loss will probably taper off like mine did though.
Keep me posted.

1lb -- I can attest to the weight "loss" during pregnancy. I was 'sick' for weeks on end that never really let up the entire pregnancy (either of the 2 times) and so by the time I gave birth I actually weighed LESS than before I became pregnant. Just one of those things I guess. My DIL just had her first baby in January and she, too, lost weight throughout her pregnancy. I guess some of us are just like that. But I agree with Tricia - if your doctor is 'concerned' he will/should order some tests. Please let us know how things are going along the way.
And how is our Tricia mommy doing? Feeling ok? Out of that blah initial phase? HUGS!!!!

I'm doing well, hun. I haven't been queasy for well over 3 weeks, which is great. I have a good appetite but it doesn't seem to affect my waistline...ha ha.
HUGS right back at ya!

Glad you are progressing well. I just found out that I am having a boy and his heartrate is 150-152 bpm. You never know because my daughter was around the same! It will be so much fun to find out!
