OK, when I first researched the lap band and met with my surgeon I was told that the weight loss should be 1-2 lbs a week. Well, I went in for my 5th fill and talked breifly with one of the other surgeons and the NP and they told me that the 1-2 lbs a week is expected with the bipass and with the lap band it is 1-2 lbs a month. What are your thoughts, has anyone else heard this?
Thanks!

It doesnt surprise me. I couldnt keep up 2lb a week now after I've lost so much of the weight I had to lose. My doc has not been at all worried by the fact that some months I've only lose 2 or 3lb. In fact he's been pleased with me.

I never was one to lose 2 lbs a week. I am a slow loser and thats the way I am liking it. Actually because of several different reasons, most of them my own silly fault I have lost nothing in 6 mths and I am not that worried.

I was told 1-3 pounds a week for my lapband, but thats based on having the right fill amount and a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise per day.
Wierd.

I was told 10lbs per month, that's 2-3lbs per week.

It comes off in spurts too I find. I've lost a kilo since yesterday, and 2 kilos in the 2 weeks before that. Havent had that kind of loss in a l-o-n-g time and I didnt do anything special. I'll probably stabilise for a while now.

I was told 1-2 pounds a week, with proper eating, good restriction, and exercise.
Some weeks I have lost 5, some none... I guess that is just some statistic they go by?

I was told it would average 1-3 pounds a week, but that it would be in bursts. And that is properly restricted and 30 minutes of workout everyday. My surgeon pushes the excersize. If you do not workout, he gets mad. LOL

I was told you should lose an AVERAGE of 1 - 2 pounds per week if you have proper restriction and you exercise. 1 - 2 pounds per month would mean you only lose 12 -24 pounds in a year! Nope - the "other" surgeons on the NP are wrong.
I haven't really exercised consistently (read practically at all - I keep promising to do better) and I've lost an average of 1.49 pounds per week, just as my surgeon told me I would. If I would just get up off my duff an exercise I'm sure I could be a lap-band rabbit! What's wrong with me?

Oh, for sure if you average it out - I've lost 62 lb but I lost a good half of that in the first couple of months. Since then its been more like 1lb a week. But averaged out I've lost about 6-7lb per month.

my average loss is .785 lbs per week. of course, i have never lost .785 lbs in a week. i will lose 5-6 lbs in a week, then go forever without a single ounce leaving. then i lose a few more in a couple of days, then forever with nothing again, etc.
i have NOT exercised as i keep promising myself i will, and i don't count calories/proteins/fats/carbs like i am supposed to, i do it when it is convenient. i know that one of these days, i will really buckle down and do what it takes to lose all of my excess cargo...and boy when i do, you better watch out!! i am gonna be as fine as Telly!!! In the meantime, i am pleased. i have moments of self doubt, usually around pms time, but when i am sane, i feel successful.
my doc told me 1.5-2lbs per week is normal for lapband. but he emphasized the importance of the bandster rules concerning diet and exercise.

oh meme...i now see that your fill was just earlier this month. your body may be adjusting, and when it does, it will start to lose. maybe bump your workout routing up to an hour each time. those extra 15 minutes each time will not hurt, and overall it is an extra 30 minutes for the day. also try to up the resistance. what sort of workout are you doing? if it is treadmill, try raising the incline, but not the speed. and make sure that you are in your target heartrate zone.

Like the others, I was told 1-2 lbs a week. But that assumed you were doing everything correctly. I'm not so correct. I expect it would be better if I counted calories and exercised more.
I was told 1 to 2 lbs a week (like Weight Watchers)---for 4 years!!! (yay!)
I am 4 days out and have lost 12 since. (6 during my pre-op--totaling 18)
..I hope it doesn't keep going at this rate...I want to be able to exercise to keep up with the skin shrinking...no way I am doing TT...not covered and I don't have the money. (plus one surgery a year is all I can handle...LOL)
