Anyone going to have a TT anytime soon? I am abourt 25 lbs from where I want to be before I get this TT done. I'd say another month and a half and I can get there but ...weight loss is slowing.
I took these after seeing Emileekayes pics tonight. She has nice curves and her belly is not as flabby as mine. I cannot wait to have this procedure done and have lipo around the waistline. I'd say another 1.5 months and I can knock out more fat around my belly.
See Emilee...I have the stretchmarks too :)

I'm gonna post my pics, too Telly. Although, I promise, my tummy doesn't look near as nice as yours. And, I DON'T think you need to lose another 25 pounds, are you nutso?! You can't shave 25 pounds from that bod! No way! You look FAB. Go get that TT for Christmas!

LOL, NICE 503! Yay me, I have another stalker...
Kathy, (shakes her head) I soooo wish I believed you regarding the 25lbs to go thingy. I still have a bit to lose. Hips, belly, arms..etc.
I would love for people to post their belly's here....and over time we can continue to post until we are were we need to be, pre-ops for TT.
Post away folks!

You know, my belly looks IDENTICAL to your's:). Unfortunately, I don't see a tummy tuck in my near future. I just have to deal with what I've got. But I DO hate all of the extra skin. Hey, at this point I'm just greatful for the weightloss. Good luck on your tummy tuck:). I would post my belly pics, but I have to build up a little more courage.

Hehehe, Belly pics!!!
I can't wait to see your journey of going through the TT. I know you will take lots of pics!
My tummy looks just like urs! I should have taken one of it straight on. We've both got nice curves.

Ok this will sound weird but do you guys pull at your flap? Hold it up and turn sideways in the mirror ..to see how it would look without the skin? I think I do this everytime I pass by my sliding glass doors.

LOL, YEP!!! I pull on my flap all the time, my sister made fun of me yesterday for lifting my shirt up when I looked into her bedroom mirrior and moving my flap around. I kept doing it, she was like, "Do you always do that when you look in the mirrior?" Yep.

I currently don't have this "flap issue" to worry about, I realized a long time ago that if it was filled it would be all round and firm. For some strange reason I am now trying to develop a flap. What is wrong with the world we live in.

Before my TT I obsessively would move my apron to see what it would look like without it. I was 17 when I had my daughter and have had a big flap since then. I really cant remember it any other way.
I got to the stage when I had lost half of my weight that having such a big flap really was affecting how I could do things and what I could do. That is why I went ahead and got it done before goal. As a result I* didnt get perfect results like you guys will with such little flaps. I am hoping as I lose more weight and kick in the exercise that it will improve my results.
Telly - I can see you having awesome results with your TT, your belly is going to be flat as and your waist will be tiny. With the MR that pulls your waist in plus you are being lipoed there, you are going to have spectacular results.

Ladies...
From a guy perspective...
You two do NOT look as bad as you think... as a matter of fact I think you both look teriffic.
Be patient with your bodies, but obviously, your tummies are doing well with your weight loss!
Now if you want to see excess stomach skin... I'll get out MY camera.

Okay Telly, HERE is someone who needs to lose another 25 pounds (at least!) before getting a TT. If this pic comes out too big I'm taking it off for resizing because it is just gross. I have lots left to lose, this has been quite a reality check for me.
Telly
09-28-2006, 08:08 PM
This will sound horrible but, I'm soo glad I am not the only one with a flap, lol. I'm so glad you posted. I want your butt. I need a butt. It's not gross. Actually we are just not supermodels, we are real women with real curves with real mommy bodies. We rock!

Kathy and Telly my stomach looks alot worse than both of you guys. I know i still have plenty of weight to lose. I have a serious flap...like somebody could camp overnight under it...it is gross.....I dont think i am brave enuf to show the world my flap with its own personal road map on it....i gross my own self out with it...i avoid mirrors......but i do thank you Kathy and Telly for sharing your pics and to know that i am not alone....and that we dont all have to be perfect.....i agree with what telly said up above about having mommy bodies.

In a way I envy your belly flaps, lol. Although NONE of you are gross by any means, you have a reason to do something about them. I'll take some belly pics later, got no batteries for the camera. But my belly is pudgy, soft and doughy without the flap bit - its perfectly flat and nothing hangs. So it looks terrific in clothes, but I'd never wear a bikini. When I lean over, it hangs loose, in a way it never did prior to 3 pregnancies. There's a little bit of crepey skin. I still have 10kg to lose so it will flatten out more. But because its just not the best belly, yet not in any way a candidate for a tummy tuck, I'd never get it covered, it would cost me an arm and a leg to do anything about it. And who wants a great belly if they are missing an arm and a leg, lol?

Sorry for not responding earlier, but I've had a HECTIC week. Anyways, I was all set to post mine, took the pictures and everything, pulled up this thread, and the pictures are too big. Tried to post them in the gallery, too, and no luck. I suck at loading pictures. So, now I have my belly pics and no knowledge of how to get them on the screen.
But for those who have been able to load them, you all look great. My tummy looks similar, but with A LOT of stretchmarks and scars. I have stretch marks on top of stretchmarks...

Alright guys, I'm getting nervous as the hours pass by but I am ok. Myiv4life told me that Dr. Romero is an awesome doc. I know he is but it's the whole idea of being cut open and ...hahaha, my meat chopped off. It's so gruesome but at the same time, hilarious and scary. Know what I mean?

10-05-2006, 06:57 PM
I definately know what you mean. I would think about the after everytime I started to worry leading up to my TT. Thinking about your FLAT TUMMY. Think about your tiny waist. Think about the perfect hourglass. Think about bikinis. Think about low riders and hipsters. Think about midriff tops.
Hahaha need I go on. Seriously everytime you start to panic or worry, stop and visualise yourself doing/wearing/accomplishing these things. You wont be so worried.
I cant tell you because I know I didnt listen either but the TT really is more uncomfortable than pain - you will be ok. Everything will be great!

Hello friends. I am just writing in as I lay in the hospital bed that so far so good. I had surgery 4 or 5 hours ago with the awesome doc.'s. I am on my mobile..bored to death in recovery. Myself and another chick..snoring..lol. They will move me to my orivate room soon. Now for the gross, shock and awe... they removed 9lcs of skin!!!! When they told me @ said GTFOOH!!!! He said a lot more b/c they hadn't weighed the fat from the lipo. My DH has been unbelieveable and my DD too. I have on this very tight compression garment on the abs and leg garments. Sorry for the scatterbrainedness. oh hehehe the doc took pics of me ore op. he referred to my belly as a FLAP which made me burst into laughter. he said..go ahead shoe that flap now b/c in a moment it will be gone forever, he says with proper diet I won't see the belly again.. p.s. I saw the entire surgery as I had a block anesthetic. @t was amazing.

thr doc says he was very happy eith my surgery however I may need to come back for more lipo for body contouring and if I lost more weight he thinks I will need a butt lift..lol. He's so right. I agree with all of it. For now, I'm happy. Doc just told me he sucked about 3lbs of fat out..more on my right side bc there was more there. So 12ish pounds. Dang!

Telly I cannot believe that you are this coherent in recovery. Both times I have had surgery I wanted to do nothing but sleep in recovery. When I had my breast reduction, there was some old guy screaming for his teeth the whole time. "Where's my teeth!, Where's my teeth!" I wanted to kill him, but definitely saw the humor in it.

Housecatgurl....Dr Romero was awesome and he went through an entire 1+ hour long face to face consultation. He asked me a lot of questions about my weightloss and my goals..ensured me that no surgery guarantees that a person will never gain weight again and to make the best out of this surgery and keep gettning fit.. He has experience with port repositioning with tt and ensured mine was repositioned safely. There's so much to share but I may sleep now. I can't say enough great things about him. Oh yeah he blew into the office with his helmet..took it off an I swear he looked like a mexican version mix of sean connery and antonio banderas. I think the requirement to do p.s. is to be gorgeous. The front office staff all had work done and you can see it. He says he does 150 tt's per year and rising. He does a lot of face, eye, breasts, necks and lipo. I've seen his entire before's and afters album and I'm in awe!b The facility is no san jose but its nice.

Hey Telly, just checking in to see how are you feeling today. Hopefully you're doing as good as yesterday!
I have a friend who had a tummy tuck, and she no longer has a belly button. Did your doc have to make one for you? Also, I want to remember that you got a tatoo at one point to cover one of your scars from the band surgery. How is that doing? Is it longer now? lol
Telly
10-10-2006, 09:19 AM
wow I can't imagine not having a belly button. The doc did give me one and I got to see it just now. It's cute! You are very obervant ..yes my tattoo is much lower than it was before..about 2 inches above my belly button. TMI here but I have no more fupa. My pubic area was pulled really tight. Aaamon, awwww you're sweet.
I saw the entire procedure which was pretty cool but very gross. The abs hurt when I move yes. The lipo stings but I'm not doing too bad. I am not bruised yet, kinda waiting for it b/c it is something most people have. It feels like I've done 2,000 crunches in 1 hour. It's very uncomfortable but withstandable. You'll do fine.

Diane, I just called Marcy at the office and she said that the prices are not on the page but that they remain the same. There was no procedure over 3800 in fact, the only 2 othe procedures at that price were breast augmentation and mini tummy tuck.

II am now trying to develop a flap. What is wrong with the world we live in.
It's just not fair.

A mini tummy tuck is the same tuck except it's performed on a patient weighing less than 120lbs. It's a mini tuck b/c it is under the assumption that they don't have alot of excess skin to remove. The cut is very tiny and the skin is pulled the same way, the muscle is repaired as well.
I had a full abdominoplasty. I had pretty much ..seems like half my belly cut off. My scar runs over to my hips, whereas he normally cuts to the inner pelvic bone but mine goes past that. He said that my flap was very large and I had alot of redundant excess skin that he had to cut alot off to get it looking good so I definately did not have a mini. Also with a mini, you don't have a new belly button as there is no need for one.

Telly,Glad to hear you are feeling better. Take pics daily, thats how often you will notice a change. Most people have swelling up to 6 mths and sometimes 12mths and in the beginning each day you seem to change more. Also take pics as soon as you get out of bed compared to right before you go to bed and check out the difference.

10-11-2006, 03:34 AM
Kelliebelly you are right. I noticed a difference. I look smaller everytime I wake up and also, weird too I see alot of fat draining into my Drenovac. I have to empty it 5 times a day now but it's less bloody more pink and yellow now. I'll take pictures everyday starting today. Good advice.

Cant wai to see youre results and you rockin body after some time has passed to heal.
Telly
10-11-2006, 07:04 AM
Haha Emilee, I wouldn't say it's rockin but it will eventually get there once I hit up the gym and tighten all of this skin and muscle up. I have 1 month off and I think it will kill me. Knowing me I'll lightly walk at week 3 to just try to get going again. Don't worry, I won't go insane with the workouts, at least for 1 month or as my body allows.
I'll show pictures of everything, progressively once I'm healed and the swelling goes down so you can see the differences. But for now, I'm gonna chillax.

So glad to hear everything went well for you. Take it slow and try to get some rest cause that's how you'll heal faster. So next year I should be complete with all surgeries. Iwish I knoew that you were in San Diego because I was there all last week and I would of loved to meet you. But someday and somewhere. If you are ever in Boston let me know

For some people, all it takes is a sudden awakening to get moving. Yes everyone knows what they must do to lose the weight and they all know exercise is a major key to overall physical fitness.
Yes yes we all know that life catches up to us. Some say, "How do you find 2 -3 hours to workout? I don't have that kind of time." Admirable are those that have the gumption and the drive to push themselves to the gym or on the bike and really "just do it". It's about drive. Excuses excuses..such an easy way out. As I said before, if you have 2 - 4 hours of t.v. viewing time at night to watch reality shows or MTV, then you certainly have the time for the gym and can easily put in 2 hours.
Gunn4ya, I appreciate that you are not an excuse monger. I've noticed that you get up and get going and you do your workouts, complaining or not, you still do it.
"Suit up, show up and good things will happen."

I'm proud of you and how well you are doing.
So much so...
Well...
I have a consult on the 23rd to look into the possibility of some body-contouring myself.
Quit inspiring me, dammit, now I might have to spend a lot of money!:heh:
Telly
10-11-2006, 11:15 AM
Paul, I've seen your body in your recent posts in the gallery and I really have to be honest and tell you that you look in shape. I don't know where the contouring would be but you look great!
"Just" Paul
10-11-2006, 11:46 AM
Thanks...
But I've gotta tell ya, the tight spandex helps a lot.
I have a pretty big amount of loose skin in the front of my tummy... making my belly button look like a sad clown face. it bothers me a lot, and really restricts how well I fit in clothes. I wear to conceal, and since you couldn't see it, that menas I am hiding it well.
Other than that... I'd like a little lipo in my flanks... I work them like crazy, but can't seem to get rid of the love handles. The muscles in my abdominal region are hard, and tight... but the skin... eh... again, tight spandex helps, a bit.
who knows, the doc may agree with you, but I want to see what my options are. The skin really bothers me.
Funny thing is, 155 lbs lost, and it is my ONLY problem area. I was really prepared for it to be an all-over issue. Thank God it isn't.
Thanks for the kudos on my bod!:heh:

May be a repeat question, Did your ins pay any or all for this TT? if not can I ask how much it cost? I went to Dr about one but he said he would not cut me just lipo....I still have about 45 pounds to go so we will see after that lol
Also I talked to MY Dr about it a he thinks I should get it done in Victoria TX next to him so he can be there to make port adjustments and stuff. Thats sounds good to me :)
Looking for pictures soon!
Nana~
Congrats on the TT!
Telly
10-11-2006, 08:18 PM
My insurance probably would have covered it but I would have had to go through approval, documentation for rashes, bleeding and pain for over a year to even qualify. My husband paid for it, $3,800.00 for a tummy tuck with lipo around the waistline. The doctor has performed many tummy tucks on lapbanded patients and has made adjustments to the port if necessary, he said mine was stable and in tact and required no movement, he said it was solidly in place and it remained unharmed.

Here are some pics I took today, and I found some pics Leo took right before the lapband surger where I was 240lbs, wowzers.
The 2nd set is of me about 1 hour ago. I am wearing a compression garment that I can't take off. I have to wear it 24/7 for 2 months, wow right?? I apologize for the blurriness. The quality is not great. Leo took the first one and I took the 2nd one then after we took the pics I screamed bloody murder. I stood too long. In some pain today. I am still very swollen and according to the doc 60% will go down in 4 -6 weeks and 40% of my swelling 3-12 months depending on my body and my activeness.

And now today's post tummy tuck pics (very swollen still)

OMG...Telly you never cease to amaze me...try and get some rest, the healing you get now will bring you days of extra exercise time later. Think of it as banking up energy for those gym days in the future. You earned some R&R, take it so you can heal.
oh..btw...We're gonna need much better clearer less blurry pictures for the creepy stalker altar, and from the number of pic requests I get the feeling i'm not the only one. So, get rest and read up on your phone's camera settings so we can get a more pro photo shoot feel...LOL.

I remember when Telly first arrived at LBT. She was a ball of fire. So determined, so resolute, and so focused. She spoke her mind, she stated her goals, and then she went and put her plan into action. Right in front of our eyes she has continued to put one foot in front of the other as she worked her ass off (literally! do you see Telly back? Telly don't got back!). And now look at her. Already at the end of this journey and ready to step out and take life by storm. Oh, wait.. she's always done that, hasn't she? :)
Telly, honey, you're a rare bird. It's not often that we come across people who say what they mean and do what they say. I'm in complete awe of your drive and determination! It's been a blast watching you plow thru the obstacles and leap over hurdles. Even thru emotionally difficult times you have remained focused and you are reaping the rewards girlfriend!
I'm very very proud of you, and extremely happy for you.
Much love and respect,

Thank you ladies! I had the best airport, flight experience on the way home. I couldn't believe how truly kind and nice people and staff can be when you are hunched over in pain, walking 1 mile every 3 hours. LOL. They were awesome.
I was boarded first, had wheelchairs ready for me upon exiting my flights. It was a good and pleasant experience.
My husband is the shizznit! Words cannot explain how wonderful he was and is. He was just soo good to me and my daughter on this entire trip. Didn't complain about anything, completely catered to me the entire trip and put me in bed last night with all the pillows my body could stand and tucked in nicely. God love him.
As far as my port, he cut right below the port incision and pulled my skin down but the port is stable and according to him did not require repositioning. My restriction is the same, prior to surgery and of course I cannot feel my port but I feel good about it. I didn't care for a low profile port. I was fine with what I have.

Oh Paula, the surgeon cut a few millimeters below my old c-section scar. He removed it, found no need to have 2 scars. He did great. I saw myself naked today and I have a long bikini line scar from hip to hip (pelvic area). Most to all of my belly stretchmarks are gone. He practically cut that part of my belly off.

Mo, God love you babygirl. You are such a good friend, praying for me and checking up on me and all. I admire your dedication to education. I would like to go back to school myself.
You always have the kindest words to say.
Ok friends, please, I beg of you, do not take what I am about to say the wrong way or out of text.
I don't know if I motivate EVERYONE but I'm happy to be of some help to the banded online community. I know that alot of times, my success as well as others can make other banded members frustrated about their own weight loss. Some lose slowly, others very fast, some moderately. I just want people to remember that we are all different. Just b/c you had surgery before me and maybe I lost more, faster than some, does not make me any better. I have a flaw. IMPATIENCE. I am one of the most impatient people or online personalities you will ever meet. I set out a goal and I need to get there quickly to move onto the next chapter in my life whether that be WLS,TT, Breast Lift, Personal Trainer, Nurse, whatever, I do things in increments and they are set as short term goals. I don't like to waste too much time. If I take too long I lose interest. I am a capricorn, lol. Ok enough about me..
I love you Mo and you are a good friend. Keep in touch please.....
P.S.,
I'm proud of you too

I get all freaked out looking at surgical pics (good thing I never went into medicine!), thanks for not showing all the scars and such.
The belly button pics really show the diff... WOW!
I'm so glad you had this done... you wanted it, you went for it, and you did it!
Yep. You are impatient... but I think it is one of your better traits. We should all be so impatient, to go for what we want, and make it happen.
Not to stroke your ego, or make you feel uncomfortabel... but you are a role model... for the "potential" that all bandsters have... if you take it 110%, go forward, and don't look back. That is what you inspire in the rest of us. If someone looks at what you've accomplished, and feels bad about themselves, then they have to evaluate if they have attacked it in the same gusto-laden vein as you, if not, then they shouldn't compare. That's why so many admire you... not your weight loss, but your fortitude, and positive can-do way of thinking. You never say "I can't", you say "I will"! A most admirable trait.
Trish, Mo, et. al... you are the best group of friend someone like Telly can have on here. I have NEVER seen such great support and help for ANYONE in this type of group before. You are all the best, and you all deserve the best from each other. Keep it up. If anything, I think the rest of us strive to have such bonding and support as you give each other!
Gotta disagree with 503 though... your family is so gorgeous, they MUST all be in the pictures. Besides, I can always photoshop your hubby's face out and put in mine... geeze, I mean, how hard is that?:heh:

Paul,
My god Paul!!! Stop that!
Well look whose talking, Mr. Lose 100's of pounds in 5 - 6 months, completely transforming yourself in such a short time, while balancing career and going after your dream. You're the man! You are still doing it and you are an incredible force all in yourself. I see it! We all do. You are admired and loved, mutually.
You are very kind and wow I love the way you write, most importantly what you just said. Words cannot express how it feels to read how much of a positive impact one can be. More importantly the counter motivation we give one another. We are not ciphers, we are important to one another. When we compliment, encourage and praise one another, we create a positive atmosphere. I always say there is much power in words.
On another note, the internet is a crazy thing. To type words displaying feeling, emotion, attitude, intelligence, ignorance, vulnerability, kindness, rudeness ...it shows our personalities through our own words. Over time, I was priviledged to get to know several people over the course of a half a year and I thank god everyday that we found one another. I do have close bonds to certain people on this forum and I love them, truly.
I am grateful for B2G, as I feel I have a safe environment to continue to develop my friendships and to continue to help others and to seek help from others.

Telly you have run circles around me when it comes to weight loss, and I'm jealous is a GOOD way. Still so proud of you and happy for you. Our personalities are, for sure, very different. I'm a stubborn Taurus, and I gotta do it MY way. My drive is of the slow and steady variety. It's reflected in my weight loss, right?! but you don't discourage or frustrate me at all! I'm as proud of you as I could be! You just keep truckin', okay? I'll happily eat your dust, and you move forward with no regrets or worries. And please keep posting pics. I love seeing them. Your family is just beautiful!

I LOVE seeing the new pics Telly. Your belly looks amazing!!! Makes me so excited for my next couple of months and wanting to get to goal even more.
You came into my life when I was low and unmotivated. You sparked something in me and for that I will always be thankful. You are such an amazing woman. Thank you for all you've done for me and know I'm thinking of you and hoping for a speedy recovery for you.

Ok, I've just seen the latest pictures and I'm literally in tears. Why? Several reasons..
1. Telly you are so blessed to be so unbelievably beautiful (inside and out) and to have such a beautiful family. You tell that man of yours that he must be very special to have the love of a woman like you.
2. I was beginning to get discouraged and lose my focus. But girl.. looking at those before and after belly button pictures just shook me up. This really really IS possible, isnt it.
3. I just realized.. I am going to have to exercize.. damnit. *grins*
Thanks for sharing so much of yourself with us Telly. We are all so lucky to have you as part of our family.
Oh, and if I had that vac thing hanging on me.. I'd be coaxing it on every minute of every day saying, "That's it baby. Keep on sucking out that fat. Suck, suck, suck that fat. Good vac! Good Vac!!" hehe

Telly your tummy looks everything like i thought it would. I love it....such a cute little belly button...oh how i await that day. I can imagine how you feel about yourself now because i know exactly how my sis feels and how her face lights up when she tucks that shirt in her jeans or when she sits down and doesnt have an automatic arm rest hanging over her jeans......I am so glad that you went ahead and had the TT.....and i am glad that my sisters pics encouraged you a little bit more. I will say just like everyone else on here...YOU are my inspiration and give me that extra push i need without saying a word to me. I also know about being impatient ...i want to weigh 140 yesterday!! Anyways, girl you look awesome and i just cant wait to see your pics 8 weeks from now when you are just about all healed up. I am so glad you are doing well...keep resting !!! (Don't be impatient about that) You need your rest to recovery fully.

Diva, that is a beautiful flower. Thank you for the compliment and thank you for praying for me. I'm not in the clear yet girl! I would really be grateful if you continued to pray for me. *hugs*
EmileeKaye, I love you.
P'Nut, haha! You better not dare EVER lose focus. Lordy what will a girl have to do besides get a new belly button to motivate someone? *Hugs you hard*
P'Nut, yes it's possible. You saw me in pictures at 240lbs and those were recent (in this thread I think). I am 4lbs away from losing 100lbs and yes..new belly, perky girls and a slimmer body is all waiting for everyone. P'Nut, they cut most of all of my belly from right above my old belly button, *hint hint*.
Cindy - Thanks to you and your sister's pictures and just you answering alot of my questions, I went ahead and scheduled that TT. Speaking with you made me feel better about it and gave me a sense of anticipation and excitement. Thank you soo much. You helped me out there.

T - Have been verrrry busy with work...that said you look awesome!! Your surgery looks like a great success - your new tummy looks so freaking flat! I love where the tattoo has "moved" to. I don't see any stretch marks - do you know how lucky you are, one of my friends went to the extreme and had a body lift w/lipo, she had lost over 100 lbs. But even with the lift she still had stretch marks. Your tummy looks soo sexy....congrats!!
If you keep your pace up you will look like my old pix before me!! I am in Key West on business and have been walking and really watching what I eat. Today I find a gym that I can join to use when I am down here - you are truly an inspiration. Any time you need a break you can come to Key West and you can knock the tourists socks off!!

A question was asked to me in another weight loss forum that I thought I would share. I am posting the question as well as my response.
"Telly: Thanks for answering all my questions. I guess I need to copy and paste this to a word document, so I can remember everything when I get closer to needing a TT. My doctor said to wait 2 years before you have plastic surgery to give your skin a chance to make adjustments. That seems like a long time when you have lost so much and come so far. I noticed that you had yours a lot sooner. Did you get any medical advise about when to have the TT?"
My response:
______ Yes. I was told that depending on my mindset, situation on child bearing (if I was done) then I should consider waiting 6 months from reaching goal weight or 20lbs above goal weight to have plastic surgery. Would make no sense to have a tt when you haven't given your skin time to bounce back, however....for me... I have always had a small flap, even before my son. I was ..oh gosh 120lbs - 140lbs and still had a pouch. I knew I'd get it right away because I knew the flap would never go away. The doctors that I consulted with did not disagree with me when I told them about my history with my pouch. They seemed to not be against the surgery.
My surgeon was the only one to question every aspect of my weight loss and my plastic surgery goals and expectations. He factored in the weight I was before the sudden weight gain. My weight gain was due to pregnancy in 2001. I was 145lbs before my pregnancy with my daughter, then shot up to 240lbs. He asked me how active I was before the gain..which I was always very active. I swam alot, took aerobics classes 4 times per week and some light weight training. He then asked me how long ago I was banded and how much have i lost with the band. Asked me about my new eating habits, etc. Alot of probing and finally ...an "OK, I think you're ready".

If you want tightened muscles and not prematurely stretch them as they heal...you should walk slouched over for a few weeks. Your doc will tell you. Call them now and ask questions. They may even fax you post op instructions.

Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck) Post-Operative
Instructions
Have someone drive you home after surgery and help you at home for 1-2 days.
Get plenty of rest.
Follow balanced diet.
Decreased activity may promote constipation, so you may want to add more raw fruit to your diet, and be sure to increase fluid intake.
Take pain medication as prescribed. Do not take aspirin or any products containing aspirin.
Do not drink alcohol when taking pain medications.
Even when not taking pain medications, no alcohol for 3 weeks as it causes fluid retention.
If you are taking vitamins with iron, resume these as tolerated.
Do not smoke, as smoking delays healing and increases the risk of complications.
Activities
Start walking as soon as possible, as this helps to reduce swelling and lowers the chance of blood clots.
Do not drive until you are no longer taking any pain medications (narcotics).
Do not drive until you have full range of motion with your arms.
No lifting greater than 5 lbs. for 6 weeks.
Resume sexual activity as comfort permits, usually 2-3 weeks postoperatively.
Avoid straining of abdominal muscles. Strenuous exercise and activities are restricted for 6 weeks.
Return to work in 2-4 weeks.
Incision Care
You may shower 48 hours after removal of the drainage tubes.
Avoid exposing scars to sun for at least 12 months.
Always use a strong sunblock, if sun exposure is unavoidable (SPF 30 or greater).
Keep steri-strips on; replace if they come off.
Keep incisions clean and inspect daily for signs of infection.
No tub soaking while sutures or drains are in place.
May wear soft support underpants for comfort; may pad incision with dressings for comfort.
Sleep with pillow under knees and head elevated on 2 pillows.
What to Expect
You may experience temporary pain, soreness, numbness of abdominal skin, incision discomfort.
Maximum discomfort will occur the first few days.
You will have bruising and swelling of the abdomen. The majority of bruising and swelling will subside in 6-8 weeks.
You may feel tired for several weeks or months.
Appearance
Flatter, firmer abdomen with narrower waistline.
You will walk slightly bent forward and gradually return to normal posture over next 3 weeks.
Scars will be reddened for 6 months. After that, they will fade and soften.
The scar will extend from near one hipbone to the other, low on the abdomen.
Follow-Up Care
Abdominal drains removed when less than 30 ml for 24 hours.
Surface stitches removed in 7-10 days.
A support garment may replace dressing on incision.
When To Call
If you have increased swelling or bruising.
If swelling and redness persist after a few days.
If you have increased redness along the incision.
If you have severe or increased pain not relieved by medication.
If you have any side effects to medications; such as, rash, nausea, headache, vomiting.
If you have an oral temperature over 100.4 degrees.
If you have any yellowish or greenish drainage from the incisions or notice a foul odor.
If you have bleeding from the incisions that is difficult to control with light pressure.
If you have loss of feeling or motion.
kelliebelly

Telly,
My Dr used glue on the TT scar and just one stitch at either end of the incision. He took those ones out and my BB ones on Day 5.
As for standing up straight, I was really hunched for about 2 weeks and it gradually got better, but swell hell got worse before it got better. At 4 weeks by late afternoon I was hunched over again until about 7 or 8 weeks...not as hunched as in the beginning but still hunched.
I remember my back was really sore and I was so sick of it, but there was such a BIG light at the end of the tunnel.....NO FLAP!!!
It was so worth it, and I know I keep saying it, but each day is going to bring things that are so great. I had a flap since my first child at 17. I really couldnt remember not having it.
I am honestly feeling the excitement for you :)

Hey folks, I'm sorry I've been M.I.A. I have been resting (per my doctors instructions). I spoke with him a few days ago and he got really upset with me. I confessed I was on the treadmill at the gym and he flipped on me. He told me to walk only every few hours and to stay in bed to let my body heal. I've been really down and kinda depressed. I miss working out. I miss my exercise. Though I'm losing some weight by simply not having an appetite, I feel my arms are getting soft. I don't like knowing that all this hard work is going down the toilet. I want to run damnit! I want to lift.
:( I'll get out of this funk. In the interim I have been delving in some much needed-to-be-finished work (paperwork) whilst laying in my bed with like 100 pillows. Baaaahhhh!
TriciaK sorry babe. I've not wanted to talk to anyone. I'm a little down. Please don't take that personal.
Mucho besos and all that jazz as I recover. I'm starting to collect dust on me.
"Just" Paul
10-26-2006, 08:17 AM
Nothing is going down the toilet... you are healing, and when you are better, you will be able to attack those exercises with a renewed vigor that will surprise even you!
You will be even bettre for this, but need to follow the orders. You have put in a lot of work on your body, and the reward will be better and faster healing. Besides, months of work will NOT disappear in a couple weeks.
Smiles, girly girl... smiles. We're all just glad to hear from you!
OK, now a bad joke to cheer you up...

Telly - your doctor is right!! My uncle had surgery & was told to not lift anything or do any type of exercise for 6 weeks. He thought he was fine at 3 weeks. He went running & split open his incisions. He had a lot of problems after that & still hasn't completely healed.
Take care of yourself!!! Don't get depressed. I'm sure it's hard, but by sitting on your butt, you really are taking care of yourself. :) :)

I'm glad the doc yelled at you...you need to be more careful too much gung ho and you can get yourself into serious trouble. I have no doubt in my mind that you will spring back faster then ever because of your personality. Don't sweat some small downtime to heal, pamper yourself girl you deserve it.
Did you know that you can have someone come to your house to do your nails?
How about a massage?
Hell, strippers will show right up too!
For the right price I will do your nails, give you a massage and strip.
And since the bad jokes are being shared in here....
Two hunters are out in the woods when one of them collapses. He doesn't seem to be breathing and his eyes are glazed. The other guy takes out his phone and calls the emergency services.
He gasps: "My friend is dead! What can I do?"
The operator says: "Calm down, I can help. First, let's make sure he's dead."
There is a silence, then a gunshot is heard.
Back on the phone, the guy says: "OK, now what?"

Hello there, Telly No-Belly! I'm happy to hear from ya, babe! Listen, I think that being depressed after such surgery is very normal. Especially surgery that leaves you unable to be as active as you are used to being.
So.. here's the thing. Keep in mind that this is all temporary. Every day is going to get better. And you're not throwing away all your hard work! This is WHY you did the hard work, so you'd be able to recover from this and come out looking fabulous. Imagine how hard it would have been on you had you not been in such great shape.
You know that our son is a personal trainer, yes? Well, he said that "muscle memory" is awesome. Once you build those muscles, they snap back into shape very quickly after a time of no excercise. He hadn't been working out in a while and was looking soft, and within a week or two he was right back where he was a few months prior. It doesnt take as long to get them back once they are there. Make sense? So relax. Stop beating yourself up over it. Focus on healing. Enjoy the break and slowly work up to it again. You'll be out kicking butt before ya know it. WITH a flat belly! :)
*hugs*

Tellster...
We love ya, babe.
Heal up, and come back stronger.
You are a mountain of strength and stamina, in a tiny little body!
Sleep now, work tomorrow.
Post when you can, let the family serve YOU for a change, and don't argue about it.
Remember, exercise releases endorphins. Since you can't exercise right now, those endorphins (that your body has gotten used to) aren't there, and that is causing a CHEMICAL reaction that is making you a little depressed, you'll get past it, promise.
Do some things you normally don't get to do... watch movies you've been wanting to watch, read that book that has been sitting there on the nightstand, do a puzzle, draw or paint, write a poem or a story, play some video games, build a model, play with Legos... keep busy, but keep rested.
We're all here for ya.

Take care Telly....I know how you feel about the exercise though...I get depressed if I miss one day of exercise. But, you have to listen to your doctor and think about how awesome you are going to look when you can get back to the gym with your new little tummy. Look to the future.

OK Telly...I hope for your sake you are in bed, because as you have read i'm sure in the adult section...I'm shopping for riding crops.
Meantime...here is an old joke that for some reason everyonce in a blue moon I will think of and just start to giggle. I don't think the whole thing is neccessarily funny...but parts of it just come back to me randomly.
The pet store was selling monkeys for five cents a piece.
I thought this was odd since they are normally a couple thousand a piece. I decided not to look a gift horse in the mouth, so I bought 200 of them. I like monkeys. I took my 200 monkeys home.
I have a big car. I let one of them drive. His name was Sigmund. He was retarded. In fact, none of them were really bright. They kept punching themselves in the genitals. I laughed. They punched me in the genitals. I stopped laughing.
When I got home, I herded them into my room. They didn't adapt very well to their new environment. They would screech and hurl themselves off the couch at high speeds and slam into the wall. Although humorous at first, the spectacle lost its novelty halfway into its third hour. Two hours later I found out why all the monkeys were so inexpensive, they all died. No apparent reason. They all just sort of dropped dead. Kind of like when you buy a goldfish and it dies five hours later. God damn cheap monkeys.
I didn’t know what to do. There were 200 dead monkeys lying all over my room; on the bed, in the dresser, hanging from my bookcase. It looked like I had 200 throw rugs.
I tried to flush one down the toilet. It didn't work. It got stuck. Then I had one dead, wet monkey and one hundred ninety-nine dead, dry monkeys.
I tried to pretend that they were just stuffed animals. That worked for a while, that is, until they began to decompose. It started to smell real bad.
I had to pee but there was a dead monkey in my toilet and I didn't want to call a plumber. I was embarrassed.
I tried to slow down the decomposition by freezing them. Unfortunately there was only enough room for two at a time, so I had to change them every 30 seconds. I also had to eat all the food in the freezer so it didn't go bad.
I tried to burn them, but little did I know that my bed was flammable. I had to extinguish the fire. Then I had one dead, wet monkey in my toilet, two dead frozen monkeys in my freezer, and one hundred ninety-seven dead charred monkeys in a pile on my bed, and the odor wasn't improving.
I became agitated at my inability to dispose of the dead monkeys and I really had to use the bathroom. So I went and severely beat one of the monkeys. I felt better. I tried throwing them away, but the garbage man said that the city was not allowed to dispose of charred primates. I told him I had a wet one. He couldn't take it either. I didn't bother asking about the frozen ones.
I finally arrived at a solution; I gave them out as Christmas gifts. My friends didn't quite know what to say. They pretended to like them, but I could tell they were lying. Ingrates. So I punched them in the genitals. God, I like monkeys!

The sad part is....I just re-read the joke again to clean it up, and it really isn't funny. I still laughed at the very unfunny joke. I really have issues.
BTW, the part that got to me....The 200 throw rugs line and the discussion with the garbage man.

Telly,
I know nobody could tell me at the time, but it is a well known fact that we hit the surgery blues about 2 to 3 weeks after surgery. Go visit the TT boards, you will see every single person going through the same thing.
I know it doesnt help you hearing that now, but do know its normal and does not last. 1 or 2 weeks and you will be back on that high of the flat belly and new life.
Try to concentrate on a months time from now. Think about how exciting and fun its going to be. Think about all the things you are going to do. All the sexy hipsters etc your going to wear. Think of whatever it takes to get you through it...but please remember. This WILL NOT last. It will be over very soon and old Telly will be back. Please remember that, its the only things that got me through my depression after surgery and you will get through it too.
Big Hugs
Telly

Thank you guys for your love, concern and support. This is the best hangout on the internet.
503, your humor is fantastic. While I was in the conference today, I laughed soo hard, everyone turned back to look at me. One woman got upset I think, but "W". I loved the monkey joke.
Ok here are some updates to my tummy tuck. I have taken these at the end of the day today (so that you can see the swollen me, not the flat me) where I sat at the conference for 8 straight hours (swell hell) and I came home, only to go to a local Halloween party, while riding sports bike Ninja Kawasaki 636, lol. God don't ask. I don't know what I was thinking. Anyway as I drove, I heard bells..... (my cahones were frozen). DON'T YELL AT ME, I WANTED TO GET OUT OF THE HOUSE!!! I didn't dance, I just sat and laughed. No drinks and no junk food.
When I wake up in the morning, the swelling goes down greatly but during the day and by nightfall, I'm a mess. It's not as bad as before but it's still watery and swelling. Lipo does that to you. Thanks friends!

Ok I took these pics and yes...I am wearing a stupid wig and I gave it to Leo (DH) to wear. He loves it. He wore it to the party. It's so big and curly. Anyway I vowed to lay it to rest today but DH will take it to work on Tuesday, Halloween...lol. Awesome! The question DH and I wanted to ask you guys was... "Who looks better in the hair? DH or Telly? You decide.

Paula, yes. I am 144lbs and haven't budged in a few weeks I believe. But yes. :) I am trying to get to 130 but I'm thinking 135 may be a better goal. I will change my goal as 135lbs according to my BMI is normal weight, but borderline normal/overweight.

Hmm Telly or Leo in that wig? I have to say Leo - only because Telly you are so kick-ass awesome and beautiful in your short hair! Who needs a wig?!!!!!
LOL! You look better in it. Leo (the usually good looker that he is) reminds of drag queens trying be Cher but didn't have quite enough cash to spring for the electrolysis or sequins!
Great to see your fabulous self!

Hehe, thanks you guys. I think he looks better in it too. He's such a cutie. He forgot to take it to work today.
If I saw him in that hair in sequins...then it will remind me of that movie "Shall We Dance" with Richard Gere and Jennifer Lopez.... the guy named "Link" He work a wig and wore sequins and tight pants and was a ballroom dancer...lol My husband is an awesome dancer.. so this would be funny stuff

Hey Telly - I just caught up with your thread. Sorry to hear you've been so down, but glad to read also that you're getting back on track again. You definitely look better in the wig, but if I take my glasses off, there's really no difference that I can see... ...LOL! **ducks for cover**
Here's my attempt at a silly joke:
Three surgeons were discussing operations.
First surgeon: "I like operating on Germans, they are superbly built inside, all pipes are vertical, and muscles diagonal, and thus very easy to put together again after cutting."
Second surgeon: "I like operating on the Japanese, they are tranistorised inside, all their pipes are coloured - so easy to join afterwards. Red to Red, Green to Green, and Blue to Blue."
Third surgeon: "I like operating on politicians because they only have two moving parts - their mouth and their a*se, and those parts are interchangeable."
BTW - I hope nobody gets 503 in the Christmas Gift Exchange!:heh:
