Well I went in for my surgical check up. The doctor says I am right on track. He scheduled me for a fill  on April 4th. I was a little surprised he was doing it so soon. I haven't even gone to mushie food yet. Is this unusual? I go in for a six week check up on May 5th and he wants to see me down a total of 40 lbs. Which I think is doable. Then 5 lbs a month after that. Does this sound right to everyone? I know we are all different but I just wanted to make sure my DOC isn't to out there in left field.

I had my first fill about 6 weeks after surgery. It seems like you're fill is a little early, but all docs are different. I think 5 lbs a month is a totally reasonable amount. Good luck!

My first fill was really quick. I don't remember exactly how many weeks, but it was very fast. My doc wants me to lose 8 pounds a month, so 5 pounds is a reasonable goal. I would ask your doc to do your first fill under fluoro. This is in the hospital and the doctor can see exactly how much fluid can get through your band. Every time I was filled under fluoro, the doc was able to hit that "sweet spot".

It sounds like your doc has got it right for you. Everyone is different, even thought we are all doing it with the same tool. My wife and I have different schedules and different fill amounts, but, it is working for both of us.

My first fill was to be 4 weeks after surgery but due to scheduling wound up to be 5 weeks after surgery. Then it turned out her notes were wrong, it said I had a 4cc band and she was able to take out 3cc (she didn't think that her notes were right when she could pull that much out) so she put 3cc back in and tomorrow I go for my second fill. It turns out I have a 10cc band. You wonder why she didn't just ask the surgeon then and there and the reason for that is I get my fills in Spokane, WA at a satellite office, my surgery was in Everett, WA about 7 hours away. She only does fills on Tuesdays so I am a bit limited but we'll see how tomorrow goes.

My first (and only so far) fill was scheduled for 4 wks post-op, but I had to postpone until 5 weeks post-op.
5 lbs a month seems like a totally doable number. I would say you are right on track!

Well I had my first fill on 4/2/08. He put 3 cc's in my 10cc band. Boy was that an experience. He did it under floro, he said everything looked really great. The only part I didn't like was the numbing shot and the feeling of that big needle being poked around. I didn't feel any pain from the big needle just pressure. THe liquid you drink was kinda yuky but okay. That feeling of pressure as he is adjusting made me feel like what I drank was going to come back up. But once he released the band pressure and took the liquid down everything started going down like it was supposed to . I was really tight for about 24 hours and then things seem to settle down.

So I survived my first fill. Yeah ....me.

You're on your way! Yeah! I wish I had started getting fills right away. Guess I thought I was going to do this without one. Silly me.

It sounds like your first fill went perfectly! Take it easy over the next week or so and slowly...very slowly work your way back to solid foods. Let us know how it goes!

Sounds like everything went fantastic for you! I have 5cc's in a 10 and will be going back in this Thursday for my 2nd fill - I can eat everything and anything under the sun - not good.
Keep us posted on your progress!!
