I did a water Tai Chi class and it rocked. My arms are sore, so the fact that I didnt feel like I did much in the pool showed me how wrong I was.
I did want to pass this fact on:
My instructor told me that 15 min of walking or running in the water was equal to 1 hr of doing the same excersize on the treadmill.
I am definatly gonna do MORE water excersizing!!!!
But on a side note, what kind of Water work outs do you like??

Our local pool does a deep water running class that is quite good, I sometimes do it. Its less targetted for the older or less fit than water aerobics tends to be, you can get a pretty good workout from it.
But no way do I get my heart rate up as much or burn as much energy as I do ordinary running. Its not as intense no matter what anyone says, its easier than running on land.
Swimming laps though if you just put your head down and go and dont stop at the lane ends for a breather, that's a pretty good workout. I can keep my heart rate up over 150 swimming.

I have been doing an hour of deep water aerobics five days a week since my surgery in May. I love exercising in the water and it really helps with losing weight.

Hey Jaqui! Welcome back! Hope you enjoyed your holiday!
I like swimming laps, and the odd aquarobic classes when I can make it. Our pool doesn't have a water running class, but I do it on my own anyway.
I set time goals rather than lap count or speed goals. For example, I aim to move non-stop in the water for whatever time I have (eg. 45 mins - 1 hour). I try to keep my heart rate up around where it would be if I were doing an aquarobics class. I figure that as long as I'm moving at a reasonable rate in the water at this stage of my un-fitness, I'm making progress. I might do laps for most of the time, and then some running or other movements, just as long as I don't stop or let my heart rate drop! I'll have to rethink this strategy as I go along to "ramp up" the workouts, but for now it works for me!
