We'll see. Scheduled for my third fill on March 21st. Wish it was this Friday instead of two weeks from then.
I hate it that my doc's practice is so busy that this is the first available date, but that's life I guess. I get stuck occasionally, but this is my own fault and is because I don't chew stuff thoroughly before swallowing. I eat pretty much normal portions now. If I tried to exist on the 4 oz of food per meal that is recommended I'd be eating off one of my arms!
Not losing any weight at all. Zero. Every time I try to cut back on portions I wind up so hungry at the next meal that I overeat. So, no loss, but at least no gain. By the time I get the third fill it will be close to five months since getting the band, and I am very, very, disappointed in the results so far.
Hurry up March 21st!
Sue, I know exactly how you feel. I have been banded six months now and I am not progressing as well as I had hoped. I just had my 4th fill last week and I am finally feeling some restriction. I hope the same happens for you on the 21st. I know it is fustrating when you are trying sooooo hard and not seeing the tangiable results on the scale. I am keeping my fingers crossed that you will hit your "sweet spot" with your next fill.
Hang in there ...........

Hi Sue, I was banded Oct 26 and I'm in the same boat as you are. I get another fill in 1 week so hopefully things will improve. I had some oral surgery this morning so can't eat solids now anyway but I am really hungry. Every pound I've lost has been sheer will power. I'm so looking forward to better restriction. I hope you get some good restriction too real soon.

I remember when I was just starting out and I would compare myself ALL THE TIME to other people that had their surgery around the same time as me. I would get frustrated that I wasn't losing weight as fast as they were. 20 pounds lost is fantastic! Hopefully this next fill will give you real restriction. Just remember that this is your journey. Try not to compare yourself to others and celebrate what you have accomplished! You are doing great without full restriction!

Sue, I, too, am disappointed in my recent weight loss. I don't think I've lost a pound since my last fill -- and I sure don't feel restriction. I've had 3 fills so far and go for my 4th next Wednesday -- not a minute too soon! I'll hang in there with you!

I'm so glad to know I am not alone, although I will hastily add that I not glad you are stuck too - I definitely feel your pain and frustration!
Mini Me's recent "slow losers" thread has really given me a much-needed attitude adjustment. If you haven't read it, I recommend you do!

Sue - hang in there -- the next fill is coming around the corner....that said, you definitely don't want to be where I am at - too full for 3 weeks - no weight loss - actually gained 2.5 lbs from all the liquids/mushies I have had to eat -- revved up my exercise and I guess it was just timing, but now I can eat almost normal again and I'm losing again
fills make the band so fickle! too bad we can't regulate them better....
Sue,
I had my surgery in July of '07. I use to say I "only" lost x number of pounds. However, if I had not had the band, at this point I would probably have gained 5 - 10 pounds over my pre-banded weight. Currently I am down 41 pounds and have about 52 to go. I have had 6 fills. I have to remind myself regularly of many things:(1) I was originally told it would take about 2 years to lose all the weight. (2) I was also told that most people lose only half of their excess weight. "some lose more, some lose less. Those that are very dedicated to the program and exercise regularly generally lose more weight faster."
So I keep on trucking and when I don't see the scale move, I ask myself what part of the program am I slacking in. When I do that and make a correction the scale slowly starts moving in a kinder direction. Try to remember the turtle wins the race.
I had an IDEXA test (fat mapping) done the other day. It is an amazing thing. As the test was being done the technition said "Helen you have a tiny body." She meant that my skeletal and muscle mass are small, not that I am not heavy. Even though I looked at the scan and saw that I had a good ways to go to rid my body of excess fat, it has made me curious to see my "tiny body" some day. The test also helped me cognitively understand that my "tiny body" doesn't need large amounts of food. So now when I'm tempted to eat large quanities of food, I am going to ask myself does my "tiny" body really need that.
Didn't mean to ramble but some times other folks rambling have helped me think in different ways.
Have a great Friday!

Sue,
I feel your lack of restriction. I was banded on 10-18 and get my third fill on Friday. I have had no restriction except for a few days after the first two fills. I've been stuck at 30lbs lost for 4 months. I'm having mine done with a 'scope and I hope my doc puts in 2ccs. I'm at 8ccs with the 14cc band and it ain't tight yet, LOL. Going to the gym six days a week is the only reason I haven't gained more weight.

I'll be getting fill #3 in about two hours. I hope this one lands smack dab in the sweet spot, although if I'd been thinking clearly when I scheduled it, I wouldn't have made it for Easter weekend. It isn't going to be alot of fun preparing an Easter meal for my family that I can't eat with them. :damn:

I know what you mean, I had my first fill yesterday and we are going on a family picnic/BBQ tomorrow with my hubbys family. It will be interesting because we will be in a remote location and Im not sure what I will eat? I have not told them about my surgery because about a month before it they were having a discussion, in front of me, about how the new "trend" is the Lapband, how anyone can get it now to lose some excess weight, its a cop out ETC So uneducated and I got angry so I told my hubby I wasnt going to tell them. He agreed. Not sure what I will do tomorrow. A little stressed about it, but hey its their problem, not mine!
Good luck with your fill and have a happy Easter!

Don't mean to be a thread stealer, but I just wanted to tell Kat that I hope her Easter goes well, and I understand where she is coming from. I have some family members that felt the same way, but they have come around. I feel the information I got from this site helped me with explaining things to them. Education is the best form of defense (for lack of a better word) .. Good Luck.. and Happy Easter :)
And Sue, I hope your fill goes well for you too. Happy Easter :) (sorry again for hijacking your thread)

Kathy, I hope it is not to late to tell you this since you are probably at your picnic already, but tell them your stomach isn't feeling well. Then just drink your meal before you go. They probably won't think twice about it.
