I have Aetna and I went to my pcp to start the 3 month diet and exercise program. The pa informed me that I probably will not qualify because I have not been at a bmi of 35 for more than two years and that my high blood pressure is under control.
I need to find out all I can about self pay. I am not interested in going to Mexico. Does anyone know who offers the best prices in the States? Here in Charlotte, I have been quoted $35k by Dr. Lowe's office, $23k by Dr, Voellinger and about $20,000 for Dr. Bauman. Has any one found anything less than that? Thanks!

Check with WLIAZ.com
Dr's Michael Orris & John DeBarros.
Ask to speak with their financial aid person.

Hey there - Actually Dr V's is 16,050 for the surgery (facility, ana, surgeon and first year of fills and office visits are included in that price.)
:) Hope that helps....there is of course some other pre-op $$ but your insurnace should cover some of the pre-op test.

Kim I thought someone told me Dr. V was $23,000? Sixteen is not bad. I will consider that, CMC is !5,220 with a year of fills also. Well, those numbers are at least reasonable! Thanks!

I paid $13,500 in Richmond, Virginia...but I didn't have an overnight stay. I think with that tacked on the cost is $15,000. It might be worth exploring, since Charlotte is not that far away.

$12,900 self pay with my doctor here in Texas (thankfully I had insurance)...I see ads in the Dallas paper for rates as low as $9,900. That's a pretty good deal - I recently received my bills - the insurance paid over $20,000 just for the 4 hour hospital stay and another $8,000 to the surgeon. My total out-of-pocket was $2,000. Consider (which I'm sure you will) the after-care and reputation as much as the cost. Good luck!
