I though for sure this was a " I refrained from saying this" thread not an actual tounge biting incident. I am not banded as of yet but I do go through periods of this too. I think what happens is you bite your tounge the first time and then it stays a little swollen and you keep biting it and it stays swollen and on and on . I hope this made sense to you . I am not sure now that I read back that it even makes sense to me..LOL

Are you speaking figuratively or literally?? Just kidding.
Is your tongue swollen and getting in the way? Did you burn it?
Are you talking and eating?

Oh Boy does that hurt when you bite your tongue!
I haven't had that problem but I sure do get a lot of canker sores...think maybe it is all the PBing.

Actually crazy enough - canker sores are a 'virus' -- if you get them a lot it's a good thing to run past your doctor.....

Virus? I thought they were caused by stomach acid.

I am sorry Mary, I was mistaken. Canker sores are not a virus.
What is the difference between a cold sore and a canker sore?
Like cold sores, canker sores--also known as aphthous ulcers--can be quite painful and often recur. While cold sores are caused by a virus, the formation of a canker sore may be triggered by multiple factors such as stress, food allergies or a weakened immune system. A canker sore forms in the soft tissues of your the mouth and is typically not contagious whereas a cold sore usually appears around the lip area outside the mouth and is highly contagious. If a cold sore appears inside the mouth, usually it appears on the non-movable parts such as the roof, rather than the tongue or soft-palate.

So I don't have a virus but I do have stress, food allergies, and a weakened immune system.

Ditto on that - sorry - guess I 'remembered' the wrong thing - cold sores/canker sores...thanks for the info!
And I'm also sorry you suffer from all of those things Mary - unfortunately I do too - stress, 'red' food allergies (acid) and have fibromyalgia - which they are now just starting to say is interchangeable with chronic fatigue syndrome....so yep I know how you are feeling but haven't had any sores in my mouth in a few months

No harm no fowl, LOL! I have had those canker sores off and on forever... at least they are on the inside so you can't see them.
I have a couple of friends with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. My friend that had twins in May has it. I was so concerned about how she would be able to cope with the babies, but she has been a real trooper.

Lots of naps - that seems to do the trick for me! I can't imagine chasing twin babies at this stage in my life - of course I am not your friend's age I'm sure! lol

Nah, no ulcers, I just bit it once, it was swollen, and the stupid thing keeps getting in my way.
I was just trying to make my self feel better with the hopes that someone else is really and for true biting thier tongue with their teeth, literally.
Sigh.

My friend is early 30s. She had to have IVF to have the babies because of severe endometriosis.
