:eyerub:I have been putting off physical activity, period. I avoid it like the plague but I'm slowly accepting the fact that I just have to do it - get it into my head that it's not even optional.

Soooooo, I took a huge step today and went to a one hour Zumba class! I can't believe I made it through the whole class... just modified it to my own pace. The music was great and it felt good to sweat. I was amazed at how much better I was moving than I expected. I guess my body really is changing - I don't think I've really let it sink in that this is actually working. I'm afraid I'll wake up and it will be a dream!

For those of us that are "exercise challenged" - what is a Zumba class?

wasn't sure how to describe it but here's the description from zumba.com
"Zumba combines high energy and motivating music with unique moves and combinations that allow the Zumba participants to dance away their worries. It is based on the principle that a workout should be "FUN AND EASY TO DO" allowing Zumba participants to stick to the Zumba Fitness program and achieve long-term health benefits. Zumba is a “feel-happy” workout that is great for both the body and the mind.

ZUMBA is a fusion of Latin and International music - dance themes that create a dynamic, exciting, effective fitness system! The routines feature aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Zumba utilizes the principles of fitness interval training and resistance training to maximize caloric output, fat burning and total body toning. It is a mixture of body sculpting movements with easy to follow dance steps. "

Gina, I've never heard of Zumba, but it sounds like fun. I have a huge problem with exercising too, so I know how hard it is to get on track. Why were you surprised with how well you could move? Hell you've lost 60 pounds. Keep it up. I'm on the exercise bandwagon too. Summer will be here before you know it. Got to be sexy.

Go to zumba.com and it will play some of the music - you can't help but move. You can also plug in your zip code and search for local classes of they have DVDs - it is fun and works you out all over. I'm actually looking forward to going again and this time I'm wearin' some leggings. I'm working on loving my body right where it is - I think the mindset we have about our body has a tremendous impact on us... that's why a size 10 person can be at a healthy weight and be miserable because they're focusing on what they don't like about their body.

Let me know if any of you try out the class! I met with our exercise physiologist at the surgeon's office today and I have lost 42 inches!!! I need to go update my ticker too - very encouraging

Woohoo Gina! You are doing fantastic!

I'm still really apprehensive about doing classes. I go to the gym 6 days a week (most weeks) and at least once a week think about going to a class but never do it. Zumba sounds like fun.
