So this week I've shot up nearly 5 lbs in 2 days and don't have much wiggle room left with weight gain. I went to my OB yesterday because I was so swollen and due to the rapid weight increase and my history of Pre-eclampsia with my last pregnancy. Everything was perfectly fine...I'm just retaining water...ugh! My pants barely fit now because all of the water retention is in my thighs, legs, ankles and feet. Lord help me get through these last 13 1/2 weeks!

Lay on your left side and keep those feet off the floor...take to the sofa as often as possible...guilt-free!
That baby girl is giving you the heads up that she will sap you of all your resources for a good while now. Starting with your physical body. Rest assured, it changes to emotional resources soon enough...that gets sapped...then the checkbook, yikes! those girls are tough!
Really, you are up for the challenge but you need to take good care of yourself. Rest as much as possible. Give Chris the heads up that it's time you need extra help and fast! The more he helps you, the longer you can stay on your feet. Watch out for bedrest if you don't take it easy! You are doing great! :)

hang in there Alicia -- 13 1/2 weeks means you're getting near the end - even though it doesn't feel like it I'm sure - I agree with Kathy - get off your feet when you need to. And remember, water retention means drink MORE water - I know you know this - just reminding you :)

Im so happy for you that you are able to bring a new one into the world. I remember those days before the blessed event, and those days were filled with feet up on pillows and bowls of captain crunch!!!!! Thats what I craved LOL, the time will fly and soon you will hold your little girl and this will leave your mind, and all thoughts will be how can I make the world a better place for this child that is really mine!!
I cant wait to hear how that first time snuggling with her felt, prayers and best wishes!!

I've been taking it easy as much as possible. Like when I'm doing housework I'll stop after an hour or so and prop up my feet for 15-20 minutes. It is hard since I have a toddler to run after and Chris has been out of town but the swelling is a little better and 2 of the 4ish that I gained overnight have vanished. Just 13 weeks left! I guess I'm in the homestretch now!

I have my blood glucose test next Thursday. Honestly, I suspect I have gestational diabetes and I hope I'm wrong. I was reading some of the symptoms (excessive thirst, rapid weight gain, craving sweets, previous large baby) I have all of them. I'll keep you all posted either way.
Please let us know what you find out!

Alicia, I had gestational diabetes with #2 and it was fine, I just had to watch what I ate and check my blood sugar several times a day. No insulin. Go ahead and cut back on the sugars and bad carbs (white rice, bread, potatoes and pasta...which you probably are already) and start adding veggies to everything. Rest and Water. You are doing great! Keep us posted on your test next week. :)

It is pretty uncomfortable right now because my uterus is almost right next to my port now. When I sit a certain way she can kick it..ouch! Plus the muslces stretching out don't help. I definitely wish my port was higher!
