I had a blood test last week to check my cholesterol and B12. This is the report that came back. I'm excited!

previous results --------- current results --------------desired values
Triglycerides 155................99 w00t!..........................Less than 150
Total Cholesterol 262..........231 yay!...........................200 or less
HDL (good cholesterol) 57.....51 hmm...........................40 or more
Cholesterol: HDL ratio 4.6......4.5 hmm..........................4.0 or less

LDL Goal bades on risk factors:
Less than 160 Everyone
Less than 130 Two or more risk factors
Less than 100 Known heart disease or Diabetes

Risk factors include:
Hypertension (BP > 140/90 or on treatment)
Family history of heart disease (occuring in male < 55 or female < 65)
Cigarette smoking
Age > 45 male or > 55 female
Low HDL (< 40)

So, I'm still in the high risk category, but it's a LOT better than it was.

Anyone else know how having the band or losing weight has helped their cholesterol?

My doc keeps asking me to go, he siad mine were so high when they did my original tests that the blacked them out ( he means that they came over the fax and because they were higlighted they were blacked out"
why is it we can fly to the moon and we dont have a color fax machine?

every time he brings it up I start talking about golf.. I dont think he has caught on yet..

I have a cardiologist who finds me to be "Interesting".

I'm massively overweight, and prior to the band bacon was a condiment.

The "interesting" part is...no heart problems, no high blood pressure, no cholesterol issues. I theorized that gout and RA cure those problems.

503, I have been like that most of my life. My doc's favorite line was "You are as healthy as a horse and as big a one too!" I have never ha blood pressure issues except while i was in childbirth. And my cholesterol has only NOW become the high side of normal.
