After spotting the strange looking blue "half-ball" thingie in our middle school gym I had to ask one of the gym teachers about it...she happens to be my neighbor also! She was very excited about it and claimed it was a great and fun way to keep fit. I expressed my interest in it for my kids and myself to keep fit and burn some excess energy (the kids!) and she thought it was perfect. Long story short, I ordered one and it is SO cool! So far I am just learning to balance on it but there are SO many things to do with it! Does anyone else have one?
Here is the link...though I bought mine from ebay.

They have them at the Y I go to. I think they have some classes that use just the BOSU. Some of the other classes just use them some for extra 'hmmph'.
Balance isn't one of my strong points! It's all I can do to balance on the stupid thing!
Enjoy

I agree about the balancing...it's NOT easy! My eleven year old even has a difficult time...but that's what I like about it strangly enough. I stood on it a few times last night for just a few minutes at a time. I could feel my muscles fatigue a little more each time...those muscles I have not used in a while. I guess I like the challenge...I HATE the dreadmill and my elliptical...BORING!!!

I got one over the weekend. I've been using one at the gym with my trainer for sit ups and LOVE it. It's easier on my back than using the big ball. Enjoy!

My trainer has been having me use one. I can't do it alone so he spots me. I like it because I have terrible balance right now due to RA. It seems to really help my balance.

it looks pretty cool....what did you pay for yours on e-bay? and anyone else, what kind of price for one of these?
I use it at the gym and love it. Great to work on balance --which is all about strengthening the core. Great tool! I am so excited now that I have graduated to different levels of difficulty on it. It adds an element of fun to ordinary weight training. I can remember a very short time ago that I couldnt even stand on it now I can stand/balance on it with ball part up or down. :)

Julz, I was just thinking that I would never be able to get on that thing because of my RA, I always feel weak and I have crap for balance. I can barely stand on one foot to put my foot in a shoe while standing.
I might get one now.
Another thought is maybe start out with a stability disk. It can be found at Target or Walmart for about $20-25 bucks. (a friend found one at TJ maxx for $5.00) You are still working on balance and your core like the bosu. Start out trying to stand on one leg while brushing teeth or ya know whatever works for you. its definitely a challenge and yet not so far up off the ground. You can try it by the wall if balance is an issue. There are plenty of different moves to try. I actually find it a bit more difficult then the bosu--but it could have just be the moves that my trainer had me do on it.
