Hi! I was banded on 12/12 and feeling great.:sun_smiley: Other than a very strange and grouchy roommate:crazy: my experience was good. The only pain I have had from the surgery is like a muscle/exercising pain in my stomach. I have a bad back and was really worried more about that. I could not lay on my back in any way on the hospital bed. So I was either on my side or sitting in a chair.
That was the hardest thing for me, especially not wearing a bra, coz I'm very very big chested. Then I finally asked the nurse if I could put it on, and she said sure, as long as it didn't bother me. So, If you're like me, ask about that as soon as you want to wear it. I was there for 2 days and ended up not going home until 7:30 the next day, which upset me. But it was over the barium swallow test they did to see if fluid was going down the right places, and they took forever to send the report back so that I could leave.
My sisters said they would come and stay with me yesterday so my hubby could go to work, and when I got up Friday, I felt well enough to take care of myself, and told them they didn't have to come. So they went shopping!
I appreciate all the helps and hints that have been sent my way over the last months, they were a great help.
Blessings, Diana

im glad it went well for you, and it takes some fear out of it for me, question though, does everyone have to have a barium swallow after the surgery??

i had to do the barium swallow too.. I did mine all outpaitient.. so one hour after surgery, I did the swallow and the results were immediate.
I went home an hour after the barium swallow..... you think it tastes bad, BUT, my mouth was soooooo dry after anasthesia that I was begging for more.. hahahahahahahah

You know Beddy, I'm beginning to think we are separated twins. Same experience outpatient-wise and same experience with being extremely dry-mouthed and welcoming that barium! LOL

Oh yes! The dry mouth, but my barium swallow was 24 hours later and I had to wait until then to drink. If you have to do this, and aren't allowed to drink, ask for the pink sponges on a stick, you can use them to wet your mouth. The barium swallow was gross, but I'm the pickiest person in the world and I survived.
