Sorry for the delay in posting a follow-up to my New Year's Day plunge. IdahoBeauty and her DH, Pat, and wonderful son, Alex, met Jerry and me at Bogus Basin bright an early. I took the plunge and, due to my competitive nature, walked/swam out farther than anybody else before returning to the frigid bank. The outdoor temperature was 17 degrees; however, the water temperature was 35 degrees. It felt much warmer to stay in the water than to get out of it. To IdahoBeauty's horror, I did, in fact, wear my multicolored flowered swimcap. And to some plungers' surprise at my dry hair, my husband replied "She may be crazy, but she's not stupid!" Here's a picture, notice the ice on the bank.
