We bought a Wii yesterday...I can't believe we found one!

Anyway, it's soooo much fun and alot of the games are a great workout! I was playing the boxing game and the tennis game that game with it last night...I was out of breathe and sweating from the boxing after about 5 mins! My arms are sore today like I got a good workout...I was feeling the need to bounce on my feet like a boxer too haha.

I love finding way to exercise that are fun and don't seem like exercise!

I was thinking of getting one for the grandkids but maybe it should be for their grandma.

Yesterday I ordered Dance Dance Revolution for the Wii. They have an exercise program on it as well as the dancing. With the Wii you use the controllers in your hands so it's a whole body workout. My son played it for hours every day on Nintendo. When I first searched for it on Amazon it was 109 for the bundle with the pad, Then I went there later in the day, bought a book and searched for it again and found it on Amazon for 69. Wonder why they have such different prices?
I can't wait until Christmas to play with my son's new toy.

We got my son a Wii for Christmas. Took us forever to find it! From all I've heard it should be a good workout. Maybe he'll get this mom to finally play video games! I know we'll all be doing the bowling one.

I was gonna start up a Wii post today! I want one soooo bad. I hate to excercise, but I've played the Wii at work and it's so freakin' fun. A perfect solution for me. Now if only I could actually find one!

When I went home for Christmas. I saw a van with New Wii for sale written on the windows. It cracked me up. I should have called her. I could have resold it.

We got our son one for Christmas. Not only did he play it but his grandparents, great aunt and great uncle. His great uncle is 79 years old. We have all enjoyed the Wii. My daughter has DDR and loves it. I have played that and it it quite a work out. Going to look for the Wii version now.

I am buying Wii Fit as soon as it comes out! I've had my Wii since it's release but have been mainly playing Paper Mario and Cars (I love Mario games, Mario Galaxy is the bomb!) I busted out the Wii Sports last week and I love it! The boxing is a real workout. I, too, have to bounce around and bob and weave. Baseball is fun, too. I pretty much suck at tennis, but I suck at tennis in real life too so that's not surprising. I'm good at bowling, too, but it doesn't get great exercise. I was sweating yesterday after boxing for about 15 minutes. I can't wait until Wii Fit comes out in late May! Hopefully I have my tax incentive rebate by then, that's one of the fun things I'm spending it on!

Hi Tonya
I love the sports game too- I am not so good at tennis and really suck at baseball but like you i really love the boxing, i also like the Golf and ten pin bowling and seem to be ok at both of those. I also have SSX blur (snow boarding and skiing) which is good fun but not so much of a work out.
I have just arrived home this afternoon with MarioCart! I have not had a chance to get it out of the box yet but that is net after i finish all my emails etc! I also had a look at one called playground that looks like it might be good for working up a sweat- it has dodge ball, table hockey and whole lot of those kinds of games. I am interested in the Wii Fit but i am not sure how useful it will be for me- I can wear my prosthesis and use the pressure board in a seated position but i am not sure if that will be effective so i am not ordering that as a pre release i will wait and see first- assuming you get it when it comes out in a couple of weeks i would love to hear your assessment of whether its worth my investment

Wii Fit????? Someone explain please! Is it a game for the Wii, or a whole different system? Tell me about it! I love video games, prolly some of the reason I'm overweight today....

Oh I went and did a search on it, so nevermind! That looks really cool and so fun! I love how you can track your weight and bmi with it. Maybe my hubby will get it for me, lol!

One thing I couldn't find though, is there a max weight for the fit board? I hope I'm not too heavy to use it....

Sparkie217
05-04-2008, 09:40 AM
WII Fit is not it's own system. It will be out later this month I think and if I remember correctly there is no weight limit for the board but don't quote me!! I can't wait to get it myself. We just bought the WII for my father in law, I can't wait til he gets it and plays it. He loves the golf on it!!

I also looked to see if there is a max weight. I hope there isn't, but I'm sure there is. I am usually okay with things now, but DH would like to be able to use it too and he's up there. I hope there is something on the box that tells you what the max weight capacity is! I know I'm buying mine as soon as it comes out. Hopefully I'll have my stimulus check by them so i can!

Well, if anyone does get it and find out if there's a maximum weight for the board, please let me know!!!!

Found this online:

A new promotional image shows the balance board used in Wii Fit (http://www.wiisworld.com/wii-games/Wii-Fit.html) has a weight limit of 300 pounds (136Kg)..
http://www.wiisworld.com/images/news/newspics/wiifitlimits.jpg
Note however that this is the Japanese version, and Nintendo (http://www.wiisworld.com/publishers/Nintendo.html) may be releasing a larger sized board for blobby America.

Hey! I pre-ordered my Wii Fit at Gamestop with only 10 dollars down, they said it might be hard to find after it comes out. Maybe they just said that to get me to order it. LOL!

We've been having alot of fun with it. Maybe sometime we could get a bandster get together on the Wii, and play some games! (like brawl or mario cart)

I have a wii fit they were released here this week and i got it for $40 less than the planned price as a release promotion. As for weight limit, the one i have is clearly marked as weightlimit 150kg whic according my quick calculations is around 330 pounds so i think they may have made a heavier version for the western world! I have only had a quick look but it looks good- i am not sre how much i will be able to use it as i will have to use my prosthesis but i thought it is worth a try- as long as i have walking frame infront of me for stabillty/safety i sould be able to do some fo the balance and aerobic work. I will be eagerly waiting for your opinions

Is anyone using the wii Fit? I absolutely love mine! I can exercise 45 min to an hour and have fun doing it. I rarely get on my tredmill anymore being I can get aerobisc, strength training, yoga and exercises to improve balance. I know we all posted that we were ordering it but how about those who have now received it and are using it or not?

go ebay....the prices there have dropped. I personally won't buy from anyone who won't accept paypal, who doesn't have a huge high rating and the paypal guarantee needs to surpass my cost.

For example:
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-WII-NINTENDO-1-GAME-CONSOLE-SYSTEM-2-CONTRS-W-GAMES_W0QQitemZ280262644709QQihZ018QQcategoryZ1399 71QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Good price, good setup (extra controllers etc) almost 300 ratings and $2000 paypal guarantee.

Well we have one....kind of! We have heard Santa will be bringing one this Christmas for the little boy of the house but the big boy of the house is wanting to get in it....so it's my mom's house so the big boy doesn't ruin the surprise for the little boy. haha!!!! Really though I am excited and I am not looking for the Wii fit for mom on Christmas day. :) It has to be a family gift, right? Of course our PS2 died a couple weeks ago and both the boys are wanting to have something to play w/.....but we are not getting a new one!

I agree w/ Pattie that is why this Mrs. Santa has her now! So far it's the only thing he has asked for and I didn't want to be stuck not having one Christmas morning. How sad would that be?! :) There are a few places around here that still do layways...that is always an option!

Shirley, I have been looking on ebay myself and am curious about all that came with yours and if you don't mind my asking..... How much more did you end up paying than the regular price at, say at Best Buy....$249.00--online (and comes with: a wii sports game, & remote controller). Just curious...

I love video games and I think that I will love this.

Kristina - just saw your recent post - about whether the Wii is accurate or not - surprisingly my Wii Fit is VERY accurate -- within a couple of ounces...

and I love it! I find myself exercising and with the family! We hop on almost every day - with only a little bit of time to work out - with school and all -- it's a great way to stay fit and have quality and fun family time! and anyone who isn't sweating whiel doing the Wii Fit isn't hitting the jogging/hula-hoop and step and....well stuff that makes you sweat! lol

**OK, had to go searching to find this thread --- i knew it existed!!!!!

anyway, just wanted to share that my hubby and i got the wii last weekend and the wii fit this week - OMG, i loooooooooooooooooove it. i'm finding it really motivating. i've logged at least 30 min. each day for 3 days now. i love the balance games and aerobics. i just tried the yoga for the first time this morning, but my center of balance ifn't much to be desired - so it's harder. maybe that'll be something i work up to?

i also brought the jillian michaels (trainer from biggest loser) wii boot camp! can't wait to let her start kicking my ass!!!! but right now, my DH and i are just really having fun hula-hooping, boxing, running (yes, RUNNING), tight rope walking, etc.. etc..

SO MUCH FUN!!!! and i loooooooooooove making a mii!!!!!

Yes the Wii is awesome. I have logged over 80 hrs. The more you play your fit piggybank will change colors. If you havent opened the Jillian Michaels dont. It is the worst game. Read the reviews on Amazon. Once you open it you are stuck with it. Unless you bought it used and paid a reduced amount. I returned it before i opened it. I am starting to see them on the shelves a little more. I went tp Frys yesterday shd theybhad 10 of them.

I haven't bought it yet, but people on another board I read way the Jillian game is awesome, way better than the Wii Fit itself! I bought a new Wii game last night and it was between Jillian and American Idol 2. American Idol won because of the song list. I LOVE the singing games!

Lovin my Wii Fit too!! My legs are sore from using it every day, at least 30 mins, and yesterday I was on it for 1 1/2 hours, but not all at the same time. Max is enjoying it, and when we bowl and it's not my turn I sit down, so there's lots of sitting and standing and moving around. I feel it in my legs after bowling so I guess it's all in how out of shape ya are if you feel like you've worked up a sweat.. and I'm out of shape big time, altho my Wii age is 46 and I'll be 60 this year :D lol

I think I finally got the step aerobics figured out, so I'm not totally messing up the steps. I'm on to the advanced step aerobics, I've tried some yoga, but my balance isn't the best either. I think it might have something to do with my vertigo in my right ear.. but I really like the balance games and aerobics best. I have run for 6 mins at a time.. NEVER thought I'd do that. And I've done the free step aerobics for the 10 mins, thought it would never end, but it was fun.

Who would have thought being this age and loving a video game. :)

remmi
02-01-2009, 06:32 AM
I agree about Wii Fit. The Yoga really helps me to focus on my center of balance, which is something I've always struggled with- standing up straight. We do many of the workouts as a family, and my 5 year old is by far the best at Yoga! I say, whatever gets me moving :)

"Just Jess"
02-01-2009, 07:02 AM
is the advanced step aerobics faster than the original? bc it's SOOOO slow!!!

unfortunately, i did open the packaging from the jillian michaels game - but have yet to try it yet. we're still investigating all the wii fit games and wii sports games.

the bubble on the river balance game FRUSTRATES ME to all get out - i'm determined to beat it. but thus far i haven't made it past the 1st Y you reach... ugh!!!! the skiing games are GREAT for your legs and i'm really good at the slolum and jump!!

vin and i bowled and played baseball last night... far cry from our old saturday night activities! haha - but it was FUN!

kristina
02-01-2009, 07:52 AM
jess..yes yes yes the advanced is faster, and you kick, and go from side to side....so its really a great work out..when you get good at the basic, the advanced will unlock for you....and then there is freestep..that will open after advanced...u can watch tv and the remote will click click click..and u do whatever you want..for up to 30 minutes at a shot. its my fav right now..i do it twice for an hours work out!
let me know about Jillian's workout, k?
that freakin bubble and me. i have to say...i am pretty advanced at my wii..everythings open, top scores..and i JUST got the dang bubble where its supposed to go!!!!!!!

Nick N Ava's Grammy
02-01-2009, 08:19 AM
I don't have the best luck with that bubble either Jess. I did get past the Y, but not all the way. It's harder than it looks isn't it? Max keeps giving me suggestions, so I tell him to get his little hiney up there and try it.. he says he doesn't want to show me up.. ;) I just tell him I'm ready for the challenge. There is a game on the Wii Play, it's a cow riding game, where your little lookalike person sits on a cow and races down a lane to get all the scarecrows and jump herdles (sp), and ya chase a King of something.. being that we live on a farm (but our son has the dairy herd) it's fun and we get the biggest laugh from it. It doesn't have the exercise the Fit has, but it's still fun. I'm not the best at the skiing downhill one, I keep getting caught in those flags.. but I love it at the end when my little person raises her arm like she's yelling YES!!! lol That gives me a chuckle.

I love the advanced step aerobics too Kristina, and that free step one too, but I've only done that one 1 time. 10 mins just about done me in, but it was fun to just keep in step with my little person. I haven't done the strength training ones because of the positions and my balance being off. I really like the advanced hula hoop, I'm better going to my left than the right. I still lose it on the right and the look I get from my little person is like a 'woe is me' look.. poor little lady.. lol After our company left last night Max and I bowled until 11 pm, but we had that Wii going from about 9pm till 11pm. lol We're lovin it.. absolutely lovin it!

Okay, I'm confessing here....
My husband got me a Wii and Wii Fit for our anniversary in September. (He wasn't making a statement, I had begged for it!) Anyway, I get on it to evaluate and after it weighed me, it said I was obese or overweight, I forget how it was worded and made my poor little mii all squatty and fat. It made me so mad, I haven't been back on it! :wink2: I really didn't work out much from August - December, but now that I'm back in action, I'm ready to try it again. I am gonna get it figured out today!

We play tennis A LOT and we bowl. We get hot and sweaty every time. So, that has got to be better than sitting around and just watching tv all the time, right? I haven't tried it, but I've heard the boxing kicks your butt, too!

So, thanks for the motivation to get back on that mean, hateful wii fit board!:elephant:

Kitty
02-01-2009, 10:11 AM
Awwwwww Reese, sorry you didn't like the Fit the first time, but now when you do it just don't go to the body test...just do the training and you won't have to deal with the "mean, hateful wii fit board". The games are really a lot of fun! I got mine for Christmas and the kids and I have been loving it. Actually, everybody loves it! I had some friends over for dinner last night and the wii was the entertainment for the evening! We were doing the Fit and the DDR...it was so much fun!

"Just Jess"
02-01-2009, 11:22 AM
i want to get DDR also!!!!

and i agree, reese - the first time i did the body test and it went all the way up the scale to "obese" and my mii got short and fat and made a horrible "ugh" noise! i wasn't too pleased either --- but then i just laughed and thought it would be good motivation to get me to shrink my little mii! haha

we also made mii's for all our family members and now we get such a kick out of them showing up during our games, etc. for instance, i was doing the super hula hoop earlier and i had vinny and my bro-in-law tossing me hoops... CRACKED ME UP!

kristina
02-01-2009, 03:15 PM
part of the fun is watching ur family be the coaches, and the throwers and the runners passing you up...reese..that was so funny. and don't ya love it when you get on the board and it says whew?!
my GF is underweight and it went off on her...it went on talking about the dangers of being underweight and that she was going to get very sick..i was almost insulted for her! LOL! it only goes on and on once reese..then it doesn't rub it in anymore...promise!

I just ordered this off the Walmart site a few seconds ago... Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party 2 Bundle (Wii) for $69.83, plus tax and shipping to my house. We looked for it today, but couldn't find it, so decided to check it out online. I did read that in April there is another one coming out with Disney characters in it, but I think this one will be just fine.

I helped my daughter get hers set up tonight and she really likes it too, I got a couple other games at Sam's Club, one is Pinball and the other is board games like chess, Mahjong, Chinese checkers, jigsaw puzzles, Sudoku, Chess, Backgammon, both were priced less than $15 each. I think I have enough to keep me busy for a while. I told my daughter about Braydon getting out the bathroom scales to exercise with you Kristina, I think I'll do that when Nicholas is here, and he and I can exercise together. :) Thanks for the idea. :)
