I got my 4th fill on 11/29/07. This was 3 days ago. Since then I have only been able to drink water and about 6 oz. chicken broth. I am not vomiting water or saliva. My protein shakes upset my stomach. I have lost 11 pounds since the fill. I am weak from the lack of nutrition. Part of me says that I need to get it loosened up. The other side of me says that this will pass and I need to be this tight to lose all my weight. Are there any other experiences like this? What did you do?

ummmm, since I haven't even had one fill yet I'm not really the one to answer but I don't have anything better to do right now. :)
From what I have read you probably are too tight, but sometimes it takes a couple days for irritation to go away and it might get better. I think I would call the dr if it's still too tight tomorrow.

I called the doctor's office on Friday becuase I was concerned. The nurse told me that I can go on liquids only for a week! UGH! I think I might go crazy!

Sounds like you are too tight. I have been there....toughing it out is admirable, but you'll hurt yourself in the long run. See how things go over the next couple of days, but if you still can't get anything solid down have some taken out. You'd be surprised...they can take out just a smidge and it make a huge difference. I had this happen a few weeks ago. They took out point something (look at my signature...I can't remember, ha!) and it has made a huge difference. I still have restriction, but I can at least get down solids now. One other thing...if they take some out and you can eat again...don't be surprised if you gain a pound or so. You may be dehydrated....

Good luck! I hope it loosens up...but, if not...unfill is the way to go!

I just had my first fill today and my dr said if I vomit liquids back up , then I need to come in to have some of the fill removed. So if you haven't been vomitting, maybe it is just some internal swelling from the procedure/fill. I went 4 weeks on only liquids and it is rough but do-able and you will drop pounds fast. Keep us posted!

Here's my opinion...
If you have to ask if you are too tight, you are. I have been there and done that a few times already. Yeah, it's great to lose weight, but you aren't doing anything but harming your body.
You need to be able to still eat healthy and put proper nutrition in your body.
So, yes, I do think you are too tight. I wish you all the luck!

I agree with Heather & Shelley...if you think you are, then you probably are. Get back with your doc and see if you can get a little taken out. This isn't supposed to be miserable!

If you can not eat at all it sounds like you are to tight. Donna

Ok...well, I did not get any saline taken out of my band. I was able to drink my protein shake a few days after that and moved on to soft foods soon after. It was a miserable time, but I am glad I stuck with it. I am still feeling restriction after nearly two months. I can now eat grilled fish and all the protein shakes that I can handle. I can also eat steamed veggies. So I am pretty sure I am getting all the nutrition I need but the restriction to stop me from eating to much!

Thank you all for your concern! I am feeling much better now!

I have that problem after each fill, it seems that having the fill causes some swelling and i need to do teh fluids only thing for up to a week (gradually getting thicker over that time) post fill. If i were not seeing that gradual improvemnt then i wold have some removed.

Wow, you've done great! 109 pounds! JEALOUS!!

I'm glad you got your fill worked out. I'm going in next month to get another fill. I thought I was good at 8cc's in my 10cc band, but I have found that I'm not quite tight enough to really keep me following the "band rules"- I find that I can really eat too much and the only time I get "stuck" or have a PB is when I'm really reverting back to pre-band bites, etc. I want to be reminded that I HAVE to take smaller bites and to be satisfied with less and feel satiated longer. I have put off getting this new fill for a long time, but my endocrinologist has talked me into it - he thinks I need a boost and even if it is temporary, a jump-start, aggressive fill. I'm a slow loser  but it's okay - I'll get there.

Keep up your great effort!

Yeah...I have been able to eat more and more each week that goes by. I think my restriction is perfect right now. I keep losing weight and I am able to workout and feel good afterwards...not weak.
