My surgery was in August and I have lost from 368 to 322, which I am very thankful for but my problems is that I am having trouble not eating out of boredom of something to do with my hands. Please help!

I feel for you but the solution really is quite literally in your own hands and mind- you need to distract yourself as much as possible- build new habits for excercise etc, but alose do things that occupy the mind- i try word puzzles, sudoku puzzles etc. anything to keep my mind busy adn it will be easier as time goes by- good luck.
you can also set yourself mini goals and mini rewards too eg a trip to the movies for the next 5 pound lost kind of thing- just make them non food related most of the time ( occasional friendly lunch would be ok to me though)

DeerCreek, I agree with Karen B. Find ways to stay occupied. Our band friend KimG keeps a list of things to do to stay busy posted on her fridge and pantry. When she's tempted to eat, she starts down the list of things to do and does as many as it takes to get through the period of boredom temptation.
Might I also suggest a book? "The Beck Diet Solution: Train Your Brain to Think Like a Thin Person" I haven't finished it yet, but have been impressed with what I've read so far.

Thank you for the ideas, I have been thinking about buying a laptop computer because our system is upstairs and I feel guilty being away from my family who are usually downstairs. In order for me to get online. The idea of posting the too do list on the fridge and cabinets is great thanks. I am having problems finding exercises that I can do without hurting the next day, any suggestions?

Walking is usually a good way to start. Ask your family to join you. Walk as long/far as you can and add a little more time/distance each session. Tylenol generally helps with the pain. I also like Ben Gay.

Keep a water bottle at hand and take a sip when ever your hand is bored.

Take up a hobby like knitting or crocheting. Your hands will be busy and you can still be with your family.

I got a puppy. She makes me laugh and helps keep my mind off of me, most of the time.

Drink and don't eat, or when you goto eat something you know you shouldn't force yourself to wait ten minutes. Most cravings won't last ten minutes.

It sounds like you need a support person. Someone you can have a very frank talk with and tell them exactly what you told us. You need this person to help you through the cravings and urges. It could be someone who will play a quick card game with you, pick you up for a quick walk at the mall, or other wise occupy your mind. This has to be someone who is 100% supportive of your decision regarding the band.
Find someone to lean on that is near by and understands you. They will help you and it can make a world of difference.
Good Luck.

Just wondering if you have been able to find something to preoccupy your self with yet? Also how are things going? Take up a hobby one that keep your hands busy. Now is the perfect time to do crafts and they can be given out as christmas presents too. Then you kill two birds with one stone....keep yourself busy and not munchin and make presents for loved ones. Let us know how you are doing.
