gallbladder surgery AND banding surgery

anyone out there have both of these surgeries at the same time? i have friend whose insurance does not cover the band, but she is having gallbladder surgery in the near future. anyone know of a doc who will do a band at the same time as the gb surgery, without charging the full 15k for the banding?

The only person I know who was private paying for Lapband Surgery had to postpone the Lapband Surgery until after they had gallbladder surgery. I thought I read a post somewhere on the other place of someone having both at same time. You might want to try a search over there.

just an update for anyone who cares...

my friend called dr. spivak's office. they are willing to work with her on this. he will do both surgeries together, if it is safe. the staff at his office are looking into the cost of the hospital o.r. with the additional time for banding(or something like that). it is looking like she will be able to get banded. he will be out of network, and insurance will only pay 60%, but the doc office seems ok with that. she will have to pay her $500 co-pay, but if i know the good doc, he might bill her, but he won't charge her ((wink)) if you know what i mean!!

YEAAAAA I AM SO HAPPY FOR HER!!!

ok, so the update.

dr. spivak is going to do both together. the insurance part did not work out quite as planned, so she is giong to have to pay 11,500 butthat is still four thousand less than she would have paid had she done it later...

i am so happy for her. she is sooo pretty. and once she has the band on her side, the will be so happy, and even more beautiful.

I had both done together. It was reason why I had lapband when I did. I stayed overnight in the hospital - lapband patients usually go home same day. I was sore for about a week but nothing awful and was so relieved to not have to go through another surgery.
tell your friend she'll be just fine!
By the way...they found 28 stones in my gallbladder! Am I glad that thing came out!!!!
